A fish rots from the head. Corporate culture all flows from the CEO and board. If a bigoted piece of shit is in charge, this is what you get. Because the top of the company sets and enforces policy. So if they don’t care about bigotry or if they are bigoted themselves, they won’t set or enforce policies to stop it. They will hire bigoted management. Those bigots won’t stop it and probably encourage it. They hire bigoted workers who will persecute others and face no consequences. Those who anti-bigots can report but will be ignored or face retaliation.

I’m not sure I agree, I’ve seen the far right nonsense on here since day one. Sure, it’s increased with the overall popularity/activity, but it’s always been there. Then again, since I help to admin a large instance, I’m perhaps more exposed to see it.
I saw KKK epithets, a swastika, and the N-word all over the bathroom. It was so gross and racist I don’t want to discuss it. It would say ‘kill black people,’ ‘kill N-words,’ ‘hang black people,’ ‘hang N-words.’
When I was in high school some kids did exactly this in the bathrooms, targeting a specific black administrator. There was a whole thing about it one year, and I’m from a very progressive part of the USA so you wouldn’t really think it would happen, but it did. I’d guess 2009 or so, not long ago enough.
Now there’s an argument to be made that those were just kids, not adults, to which I would counter with: those same kids grew up into adult bodies, but some percentage of them didn’t grow into adult minds.
If you doubt this story happened, then I doubt you went to American public schools lmao.
