This is completely counter productive to growing Lemmy. I absolutely despise discord. Look at the network traffic it generates and tell me wtf they are doing. They won’t tell you. Their business model will leave you completely dumbfounded as to how they exist. Everything shared on the platform is lost in a black hole...
A shroom community was removed from lemmy.world as it was considered “illegal” content by the admins. The logic behind this is boggling, to say the least....
I have been uploading comic art images by Moebius for several weeks almost daily to the !eurographicnovels community, where I´m a moderator myself. All those images have disappeared. Modlog says the images have been deleted by “admin”. Modlog gives no reason for this but says the images were later restored by “admin”...
I banned someone from a community I made for breaking a rule and being excessively rude, then they DM’d me and after a report their account got banned and I think that they might’ve made an alternative account and have been downvoting/disliking all of my posts. What can I do to stop/fix this, is there a way for me to see...
Hello, not sure if this is the right place to ask, but is anyone else being massively downvoted on every comment? I noticed this started happening after the DDOS attacks on lemmy.world. If you check my profile, you’ll see what I’m talking about. Almost as soon as I post a comment it’s at -10, etc....
They are a lemmy instance dedicated to the facilitation of piracy, and copyright infringement in general which is illegal. It is by nature in violation of the rules of your instance which prohibit illegal content, therefore it is imperative that you defederate it in accordance with your policies.
It’d be nice if the admins got everyone’s input on these sorts of things. Admins making decisions without thought to our opinions is what drove us here from reddit. I’m not going to lose sleep over hexbear defederation in particular, but it’s a disconcerting precedent....
I’m a mod of !leftism, and the last resort preemptive defederation from hexbear has me concerned. As a mod, what are the specific rules that I need to know about to make sure our community fits the guidelines of LemmyWorld? We aren’t a huge community and there aren’t a huge number of posts every day, but I want to see this...
Surprised lemmy.ml hasn’t defederated that instance, given the massive amount of brigading, racism and blatant misinformation that their users encourage....
I know you all are dealing with DDoS and how that goes. I run DDoS mitigation for some juicy targets and do a lot of on-call response to handle those issues, so believe me when I say I know what you are dealing with....
In the past two weeks, the site has been very unstable, sometimes for one second a page would load and the next it wouldn’t load at all. The status of lemmy.world would fluctuate a lot on lemmy-status.org, and there have times where the site has been down for hours.
Every time I upload a photo I get a syntax error message. I can continue and make the post but no photo is available and then when I click on the post it just links back to itself. This has been happening 2-3 days now. Yesterday it also seemed to be affecting photos I have uploaded within the past 10 days. The photos would just...
@JPthePirate has created their account 2 months ago (like many redditfugees) and created 40+ communities, only to never log back in. The communities are for the most part empty and completely unmoderated - and a lot of them are “brand names” like the names of videogame studios (!bethesda, !blizzard, !devolverdigital,...
I’m fairly new here and I’d like to use it more, but, there are a variety of general categories of communities that I’d like to never see. So instead of blocking them 1 by 1 as they pop up I’d like to have the ability to say “Block all communities that are sports related” for instance....
I would like to filter out all the porn posts without blocking all of NSFW posts. I like porn as much as the next guy, but every other post I see is porn. I’ve been blocking the individual communities, but that doesn’t stop anything. Is there specific keywords to use or is it just all NSFW or no NSFW?
Hi, can’t report because they banned me for calling out their antisemitism. Y’all need to have a look and see if that’s the kind of shit you want on lemmy.world.
I’m basically alone on 3d printing. It might be a good idea to recruit some help at some point, but I’m in a conundrum about what to do. I didn’t create the community, and I’m the 4th mod down. The other 3 are not active. I don’t want to discourage them, but I don’t want the community to get discouraged by inactive...
