I'll go with the Supreme Court pornography definition. If it feels like an indie game that's good enough for me.
I don't care if it's 3 people who did the work in a public library because they didn't have the capacity to rent a workspace or 3 people 100 layers of corporate ownership underneath a mega-corp. Did the small team's vision get executed with the only constraints being budget and creativity, or did it get dictated by someone else to meet some corporate goals?
But I will say, specifically in terms of awards, that removing anything with big bucks behind it at the time of development (and arguably if there were serious publishing resources after the fact) has merit, because it's so easy for money to corrupt the results.
Damn this is unfortunate, but I can see where Valve is coming from with this one.
Keeping afloat in Argentina and Turkey must be pretty challenging if the currency is that unstable, I wonder how expensive things are for the residents
The only time it has ever fucked with me was when playing Final Fantasy X on the PC. One of the characters has big attacks that require a series of button inputs with a short timer. First few times I tried, I kept failing because the buttons shown were all wrong.
Under normal circumstances, it’s fine. I’m not thinking about which button is X, I’m thinking about which button is attack. But when you only have a few seconds to look at, translate, and perfectly input an entire string, (the string resets if you fuck up,) it suddenly becomes much more important to have the right button icons. I ended up installing a mod just so I could change the button prompts.
It only screws with me when swapping between Switch and PC, since they have the same letters (and because Nintendo games always have fucking weird button layouts) 🤷♂️ the PS shapes are fine
At least Xbox and PS controllers share a nearly identical input map. It’s not like most people are trying to play Dark Souls with a N64 or NES controller and struggling to read input directions.
But I guess to caveat myself, the age of jumping different controller layouts is largely passed. Can’t remember the last time I went from GameCube to PS to something different.
I go from switch to PC(Xbox gamepad) a lot. Nintendos insistence on requiring the right face button to be Accept is torture. I’m cool with every other controller change, but that still gets me.
just 10-15 years at least, for smartphones\electronics overall too. Process nodes are now harder to reduce, more than ever. holding up to my 12nm ccp phone like there is no tomorrow …
I remember people saying this with pretty much every console generation.
Why have a pc when consoles can produce similar or better graphics and are way cheaper.
It basically boils down to PCs being useful for way more than games. Many people are more willing to invest in a good pc that can do all those things over a gaming specific device.
If I compare how Hogwarts Legacy runs on my 1070Ti vs an XBox Series S I would state that consoles are nowhere near close to pc’s, nor will they ever be. Only thing to be said for the Series S is that it is cheaper.
I wonder how much the cost is worth the extra value though. A single PC part (the most important one for gaming) can cost double what an entire console costs. PCs are useful for more than games but is it worth it at that much of a price difference? If you’re not doing heavy video editing or running a dozen VMs, a console + cheap laptop is probably a more sensible setup for most people.
But for me it’s the infinite backwards compatibility and emulation possibilities when the console makers drop the ball in that regard. Got burned pretty hard when none of my massive PS3, 2, or 1 library worked on my PS4. That’s when I started investing in PC gaming. I spent a small fortune for that and it’s hard to say right now if it was worth it, but the peace of mind from knowing that the games I buy for it aren’t going to be useless coasters in 10 years is what made me go this route.

You can buy an extremely cheap Optiplex+cheap GPU on eBay and have a machine with more horsepower and AAA gaming capabilities than Xbox Y series and Playstation 6.

If you buy a PC with GPU capabilities equiparable to PS5… you can always and for all videogames in your library to run to such level of power. This also appy to emulators.
With a PS5 you can have PS5 only if you keep buying new PS5 game = +70$ for each new videogame.
If you come selling from Xbox to buy into Playstation… it’s even worse: you basically lose your whole library.
With PCs you get even more game than any latest console can.
AVN fan here, it’s CYOA erotica with nice graphics. If reading erotica vs watching porn doesn’t appeal to you at all then I’d imagine most AVNs wouldn’t appeal to you either?
I gifted my friend a few, I remember one of them was Sex With Hitler. Anyway we played them drunk at a LAN party and it was a good laugh. Didn’t find it arousing but no judgement here, people like some weird stuff and that’s fine
Huniepop is awesome. One of the best Match 3 games I’ve ever played with interesting game mechanics you don’t see in most Match 3s. The nudie pictures don’t hurt either, but truthfully, it would still be a great game even without them.
The last sovereign is one of the best RPG maker games made. It just happens to have lewd shit as an actual world building feature. Highly recommend, it’s free on steam btw.
David is a very talkative and honest person on his accounts. No wonder he says it straight. Dusk, then Iron Lung did bring him a reputation, he can’t be confused for a random greedy dummy, as he does deliver as a dev and I can’t remember him causing frustration in his fans.
I came here to post this lol. I honestly can not think of a single element of that game that isn’t already in another Bethesda game, let alone another RPG.
Didn’t Steam give out stickers (or some other small reward) for submitting nominations, and allow people to nominate games they had never played? I wouldn’t be surprised if a lot of the Starfield nominations were blind and/or shill votes.
And Remnant 2, a copy of the already existing Remnant 1. I mean Steam awards is usually just whatever game is most popular wins and with the nominations, looks like that isn't changing! Ah well, bit of fun aint it.
If you still have bloatware/adware, you didn’t strip out as much a possible. If you lack the understanding to do so, feel free to ask a professional computer technician for help.
“Hire a professional to make your computer stop being hostile” is a more user-unfriendly solution than telling them to switch to Linux. It also only works until a Windows Update re-enables whatever they disabled for you, without notifying you or asking permission.
Don’t hurt me again, after Tribes Ascend and HiRez studios shitting all over that franchise, I don’t know if I could handle another mishandling of one of my favorite games of all time.
I just assume all these “revival” projects will be as abject shit as Duke Nukem Forever. That way I’ll be pleasantly surprised if they’re actually decent.
I read that Prophecy spun off as an independent studio. Their write-up about Tribes 3 says you won’t have to unlock any weapons, only cost is 19.89 for the base game with more expensive premium editions and micro transaction cosmetics.
At least we won’t be grinding for weapon unlocks, or being pressured into buying new weapons for cash.
