Hey, Clink Hostels.

I want so inform you that a spam mail was sent from your address.

Oh, that was actually you??? 🙄😑 That’s embarrassing.

MudMan, in Touchscreen smartphones aren't even fun or novel anymore, they're just necessities for daily life
@MudMan@kbin.social avatar

I've bought people very nice phones for under $400 multiple times. Recently.

Flagship phones are grossly overpriced. The midrange is super nice and usable these days, though. It's a side advantage of phone tech standardizing so much. And as you said, being a necessity for daily life it's probably okay to spend at least a few hundred on one you're going to use for several years.

Is this going to be another "the US has weird ideas about consumer goods" thread? Because it kinda sounds like one.

Appoxo, in Youtube is allowing Youtubers to advertise their merch even for premium users
@Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com avatar

Not an ad. This is literally just like linking the fanshop (say lttstore or gamersnexus shop) in the description.

Rather it should be an option to disable shopping but I doubt google would do the work after integrating it.

willya, in Youtube is allowing Youtubers to advertise their merch even for premium users
@willya@lemmyf.uk avatar

That’s dumb. They should be able to have a merch store somewhere regardless. If you like them, you should think about giving them some money in some way. Not by only buying premium. This logic makes absolutely no sense to me.

a4ng3l, in Youtube is allowing Youtubers to advertise their merch even for premium users

That’s a bit of an extreme take on the topic… not wanting ads from the broadcaster is one thing, not wanting to be separately presented with the promotional items of the youtuber himself is something else. I like seeing what the guys I follow are putting out. Maybe a 2nd option in ads content would be appropriate for you but don’t throw everyone in the same bag…

ComeHereOrIHookYou, in OK Microsoft... trying to log into Teams while work lapop updates to Windows 11. No longer works in any iPhone browser, including Edge. The app will not authenticate my work login.
@ComeHereOrIHookYou@lemmy.world avatar

You know what’s great about Microsoft Teams compared to other chat apps? It’s super on point with updating your colleague’s status. There’ve been times I thought my colleague was MIA for hours, but turns out, it was just a glitch. A quick restart with the app and boom, we’re back in sync! 🤪

HollandJim, in Sure buddy just take as many spots as you need

Odd how the tiniest dicks take the most space.

crashoverride,

I saw a truck parked similarly but he took up 4 spots

Showroom7561, in Youtube Depends on Ads to work

Well, since they started with this adblock shame nonsense, I can tell you that my ad revenue has been in steady decline, despite views being the same or higher than before this racketeering went into effect.

So whatever they think they’re doing is backfiring on content creators.

Google literally has to ruin everything it touches by constantly trying to change things.

pedz, in OK Microsoft... trying to log into Teams while work lapop updates to Windows 11. No longer works in any iPhone browser, including Edge. The app will not authenticate my work login.

I work in the tech support field and Microsoft is making me want to quit and find a work that doesn’t involve using Teams. I’ve never liked them very much and been a Linux user for over 20 years, but I still have to deal with them for work. However they’re becoming increasingly difficult to tolerate.

They really really want Windows users to have a Microsoft account. I avoid that and prefer local accounts. But Microsoft likes to link my local account with my Microsoft account anyway, because I need to give it to them to play Minecraft on Windows. So now even if I didn’t want to, my Windows account is showing the picture of my Microsoft/Windows Gaming account profile because I must have passed over a box to uncheck somewhere while logging into Windows Gaming to play Minecraft… mildly infuriating Microsoft.

I used a personal laptop for work a few times and accidentally connected my OneDrive to my corporate account. Again, I must have misunderstood the configuration and login process because it synced (more like moved) all my personal files on my work’s OneDrive. Mildly infuriating Microsoft.

Same personal laptop used for work sometimes. I use Edge specifically to separate work from personal browsing and somehow, again, I logged in somewhere with my work account and it synced all my personal browsing history and saved passwords from a different browser, into my “Edge for business” online thigny. So when I was using Edge at work, on my work computer, it was suggesting me logins and passwords from my personal browser that I use on different computers. Mildly infuriating Microsoft.

Teams, OneDrive, Edge for business, their subscription model, forcing Microsoft accounts… individually they are mildly infuriating but combined together, let’s say it’s a powerful generator of rolling eyes.

zepheriths, in Youtube Depends on Ads to work

To be honest even without ad block most of the videos I watch have almost no ads. Probably because of the type of humor involved but still. Doesn’t hurt to had the ad-blocker

FlashMobOfOne, in 'Central Park Karen' Denies Any Responsibility In 2020 Clash
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

All she had to do was apologize, say it was a misunderstanding, and walk she and her poor dog away. She could have just stood still and asked politely to be left alone. She could have given a good ol’ New York “PISS AWWFFF”.

She had a lot of options.

I understand maybe being a little startled in the moment, but she absolutely owns the reaction. Any reasonable person should have realized once the phone was pulled out to film the interaction that maybe it was time to chill.

Okay then show the ads to the majority of people who accept them by not running any blockers and leave me alone.

phillaholic, in 'Central Park Karen' Denies Any Responsibility In 2020 Clash

“I was a female, alone in a secluded area of Central Park, with a man yelling at me and threatening me,” she wrote.

Christian…said, “Look, if you’re going to do what you want, I’m going to do what I want, but you’re not going to like it”, and beckoned the dog toward him with a dog treat.

She didn’t know what he was going to do to the dog or what he was feeding it, so I can see feeling threatened by the interaction. It’s still her fault for clear racial emphasis on her police call, and for disobeying the leash law in the first place. It’s hard to feel sorry for her if she can’t seem to understand her mistake, but at the same time I’ve read the reddit comments and can’t imagine what kind of hate she probably received, maybe still does, and not being able to hold a job over it is a lot. Situation sucks.

Christian apparently got his own bird watching show by National Geographic, so that’s nice.

pirrrrrrrr, in OK Microsoft... trying to log into Teams while work lapop updates to Windows 11. No longer works in any iPhone browser, including Edge. The app will not authenticate my work login.

Teams, when used within a single Org, works great. For 3rd party interaction, or working for multiple Orgs I would highly recommend almost any other product.

The intra-org integration with SharePoint and document management/data retention is very good.

But nonsense like what OP is experiencing is why even I, as the senior MS Support SysAdmin at my employer, refuse to use Microsoft Office products on my personal Android phone.

If they want/need me to do that, they can give me a dedicated phone just for that purpose. MS MAM is never touching my personal equipment in a million years.

OP is stuck between a rock and a crap place.

I was hired during the pandemic and Teams has been my main way of interacting with my employer and co-workers since 2021. I like it OK most days but Microsoft likes to release updates that break things several times a year. Oh…I like this new feature! And…an update broke it

Dempf,

I keep Teams on my Android phone but installed in its own isolated work profile via Shelter.
