I know some of you have gone complies FOSS, but I believe if the developer wants to make money from their apps, there’s noting wrong with it, as long as they are ethical. So what are your favorite non-foss apps?
I’ve been seeing a lot of people hate and uninstall Brave. Why? It’s not like they’re tracking us or doing anything else shady. If so, what’s the privacy alternative?
This one is something that were brought up a lot by developers including me who are very weary about corporations profiting off of our work for free and this basically put us off from contributing to open source in general....
I use LibreTube and it looks like half of the instances keep getting shut down and then get back up, and the speeds for all are atrociously slow that it is just better to watch it on YouTube on Firefox. I heard a while ago YouTube was blocking certain Piped instances but do not know if that is the same case right now.
Is there any android app or web app with movie ratings and reviews? Android app would be better. Alternative to imdb? I want to be able to fast check the rating of movie or list of actors. I know about wikipedia app but it’s interface is not focused on movies. Thanks in advance!
For those that aren’t familiar, Anki is a very popular multi-device flashcard app with spaced repetition. It’s one of those FOSS apps that’s fairly popular even outside the tech/FOSS community, and it is used by a lot of (most?) med students, pre-med students, etc. It’s definitely the best flashcard software out there....
