But, I don’t think I’d use it enough to warrent paying on it monthly. I did however find an app called Audire that is open-source, uses the API of Shazam, and is also free. Works very well.
I would look into options for solving your CG/NAT (DDNS…) problems, since it’s a first backup aswell. If your phone is stolen or lost, the captures from the last sync are already on your server.
activitywatch.net doesn’t take screenshots, But depending on what you’re using it may accurately accurately record what you’re doing in a different way.
I actually just installed this the other day, weird coincidence. It works great though! I’ve tested it with my personal collection and random music on the radio at public locations.
Not an app but you could use muspy.com, works the same way (watches MusicBrainz for releases). Can either use their RSS feed or receive emails. I have my beet library setup to to add artists to my muspy account during import.
If you like the command line, it can help you a lot in organising your library. You can pass it queries to list songs, or bulk edit attributes such as title, artist, language, genre etc; you can tell it to automatically put your files in folders named after some of those attributes…
I’m not familiar with what @florge says, I gess it’s probably something you can do with beet plugins.
that's exactly what I'd like to use it for, although using shareX for this seems a little inconvenient? I assume it wouldn't have any sort of timeline feature to go along with it? will it start the auto capture automatically when my laptop is powered on or even comes out of standby?
TL;DR I’m not working on nusic, but still using it. If you have found a contemporary app with the same functionality please share.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any free time to work on my private projects at the moment. Also upgrading android apps to newer API versions (android major versions) is a major PITA, especially for non-commercial app devs. You spent most of your time on refactorings just to keep track with the latest API changes in android and gradle. No time left for new features… nusic is currently on API Level 24, Android 12 is 31. It might be easier to completely rewrite the Android parts of nusic. But who would have time for that? Google will provably kick nusic from the play store in November, because it does not support newer API levels. It will continue to work, though and still be available on GitHub and F-Droid.
The basic functionality of nusic is still there on Android 12. UX could be better, but I’m not aware of alternatives. So I will continue using it.
I use the nextcloud gpodder integration myself with antennapod (phone) + kasts (desktop) and it mostly works well with subscription sync and timestamp sync. It’ll occasionally forget that I’ve listened to an episode on desktop but I guess that’s just growing pains.
I’ve been keeping an eye on podfetch as a potential nextcloud-gpodder replacement but it’s not just there yet for me.
As for finding an alternative to the sync server, my only suggestion is to find a free/paid option at github.com/nextcloud/providers#providers that’ll let you install the gpodder nextcloud app or use the oracle free tier to host something light like podfetch.
