As a new user, I’m enjoying Mastodon’s vibe so far but the one thing that is a letdown is the trending hashtags. I’ve been checking them regularly over the past couple of weeks and it seems like they’re pretty much always like this....
Let me preface by saying, I would love to hear counter points and am fully open to the fact that I could be wrong and totally out of touch. I just want to have some dialogue around something that’s been bothering me in the fediverse....
Found this post super informative as it relates to Mastodon, and thought Lemmy might also benefit from this perspective. I’m not sure I share his optimism, but his points seem sound to dampen some of the alarm bells over Meta joining the Fediverse.
On the Lemmy specific front, Active daily users seems to still be stabilising following the exodus from elsewhere, Comments and Posts both seem to be on the rise though – promising stats all in all.
It is expected to be 2-3 months before Threads is ready to federate (see link). There will, inevitably, be five different reactions from instances:...

I don’t think the Fediverse will become mainstream. But I’m actually happy about that. And so should you.
It seems anytime I try to check out Mastodon it is always some negative political view or affiliation of why X, Y & Z is bad. Is this just what most people like boosting or is it a sign of botting to push negativity over the more positive headlines?...
Anyone else wondering?
Not the best news in this report. We need to find ways to do more.
