Brand new here. Been kinda "poking around" the past couple weeks but it's looking more and more like a viable alternative to Reddit. Just wondering if there's a way to display only the magazines I'm subscribed to?
If you want to see the full list of which magazines your subscribed to, it's in your profile. If you're in the website you click/tap n your username and then choose profiles. Then you have to use the arrows to see more options at the top. If you keep hitting the arrow you'll eventually get to "subscribed." I think that's what you're looking for.
Literally every other suggested post is about anti-trans stuff or gun rights. Is it because I commented once in a thread about how Trudeau isn't a fascist?
@rackmountrambo Facebook (and Twitter, for that matter) are formulated to push extreme-right-wing views because those get the most engagement, either from disgust or zealous approval.
People who like fascism also like clicking suspicious ads for penis enlargement pills and barely-legal teens in their area, which makes Facebook and Twitter more money. It's a consequence of advertisers gaining control of all media.
People constantly complain that my gen spend too much time on our devices.
I could pretty much do exactly the same thing I do but using a bunch of other alternatives.
I was asked about going a month without my phone. But what would that actually entail?
Could I still watch my tv ? Would Netflix and prime still be allowed? If I don’t read reddit anymore since I’m moved away from that cesspool. Can I just read news articles from other sites instead?
Does it mean no access to the Internet? Can I use my phone for maps and music and ebooks but nothing else?
I think the argument is good. Why are people obsessed with commenting on people being on their phones but not those that spend a similar amount of time watching shit on tv ?
Here’s a question for you.
I went on a 3 week holiday and had a similar thought process. Now I’m generally on my phone all the time if there’s nothing else going on. But I will make a conscious effort to put it away if we are doing things socializing and during group activities. My question to my partner was
What’s the difference between me being on my phone and not paying attention to anyone and everyone reading their books ?
Would the same retort as. Why’s he on his phone vs in a book. It’s the same level of antisocial yet one is seen as derogatory and the other is a holiday past time.
It’s more social constructs than anything else. Phones bad but books good. Simplicity
Is it possible to stop the screen from rotating on the Kbin app when my phone rotates? I have my phone settings so it shouldn't rotate from vertical to horizontal but for some reason only the app does it, anyone know if this can be turned off?
why do threads that reference articles on outside sites redirect to kbin and not the outside site? (for example, worldnews often shows the external news site, but clicking the link takes you to a kbin.social post showing all the threads referencing that news site, not the actual site and story itself)
‘wait, Reddit has avatars?’ - said swathes of users who discovered Reddit added useless features to their site making reddit.com look like absolute shit compared to old.reddit
Is there a kbin Android app yet? I know the web app works, which is what I'm using now, but would really like a native app. I'm assuming these are being worked on and just need time to bake!
I'm seeing a lot of chat about the migration of "reddit brand" concepts like AMA and IAmA. We should probably come up with alternatives? Who's got some suggestions?
I've seen AMA threads on 4chan, I don't think it's something reddit-exclusive anymore. It's just a simple acronym for "Ask Me Anything" for online interviews.
