PrivateNoob, in What's your favorite ship (fictional couple that is not canon, not boat)?

Great to see a fellow OG LiS enjoyer! I still get heavy goosebumps over the OST. Santa Monica~

I don’t really have proper ships in that regard that the only games where I began shipping were animu ones, where an official couple doesn’t exist in a canon sense.

Shuichi x Kaede. For the ship fandom this is considered as the “official” couple, but if you played you know why this is the favorite. Clair de Lune…

Ooyodo for sure!

fictional couple that is not canon, not boat!

Ooyodo x Admiral. Problem solved.

I’m joking with the above. Serious now: Dr. Stone, Kohaku x Senku make a really cute brawls vs. brains pair, I love seeing them interact. Like:

  • [Senku] WORDS WORDS WORDS WORDS
  • [Kohaku] punches something swiftly Aaand it’s done.

It’s a bit of a silly ship, but for Helck: Helck x Vermilio.

There’s also Roy x Riza from FMA, but I don’t think that it counts, it’s practically canon.

AmidFuror, in What's your favorite ship (fictional couple that is not canon, not boat)?

Peanut butter and chocolate

What is 'boat' in this context?

Merlu,

"Ship" is polysemic an is also a synonym of "boat", i wanted to avoid some puns.

Merlu,

@bridge_too_close Sorry to accidentally report your post, i misssclicked.

Pons_Aelius, (edited ) in What is the last m̶e̶ Book you have read?

Last one I finished was Look to Windward by Iain Banks.

Yes, I enjoyed it. I read it every 18 months or so. It is my favourite Banks novel.

Currently reading:

Fiction: The galaxy and the ground within by Becky Chambers.

Non Fiction: Twelve Caesars, Images of power from the ancient to the modern by Mary Beard

First read of both novel and author for both fiction and nonfiction.

Nemo,

Wow, I’m also reading Banks and Chambers right now. I just finished Record of a Spaceborn Few and The State of the Art.

Zak8022, in What is the last m̶e̶ Book you have read?

Just finished reading Defiant, book 4 in The Skyward Series by Brandon Sanderson. Loved it, though I am a self-admitted Sanderson fanboy.

Book,

I will have to give that a read.

sbv, in What is the last m̶e̶ Book you have read?

I just finished Elder Race by Adrian Tchaikovsky. I’ve tried reading his novels before and bounced off of them, so this was a nice change.

It’s short, and it isn’t amazing, but it’s worth borrowing from the library or buying on sale.

Book,

Looks like a good fantasy book will give it a read.

Currently on the last book in the 3 part broken earth series by N.K. Jemisin. The Stone Sky. The first book threw me through a loop. Second one is setting up the third one.

PeepinGoodArgs,

That series is so good!

Such an original concept and well written. A rare combo.

Book,

I have to try that.

Great world building with well written characters surrounded by interesting concepts is truly a rare gem to unearth. Will have to have a look at some of her other series.

I finished Barrayar by Louis Mcmaster Bujold and had a really great time from start to finish. Gripping, funny, and just plain thought provoking, I can see why it won a Hugo award and Locus award.

PeepinGoodArgs, in What is the last m̶e̶ Book you have read?

Classical Rhetoric for the Modern Student. Still reading it. Fucking love it!

nateno12, in What is the last m̶e̶ Book you have read?

Just finished the Hunger Games prequel, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. As a fan of the original trilogy, I really enjoyed all the worldbuilding and learning more about Panem.

    Nice a book set in the Samurai era sounds like an interesting concept.

  • Book,

    Oh my bad I thought it was just loosely inspired by them. That takes a lot of skill to not only carve a sword out of something used for rowing but to actually win a sword fight with it.

    I gota check it out.

    Easily the mobile experience. Sure, I’d like Apollo back, but the mobile site is so much better than Reddit could’ve ever dreamed.

    minnieo,
    @minnieo@kbin.social avatar

    true, i am really impressed with how well kbin works on mobile browsers. it's very easy to use and navigate, most other sites cannot say the same, which is weird, since people are on mobile devices more often than desktop so you'd think it would be perfected. kbins mobile browser experience feels like an app.

    also rip apollo (◞‸◟)

    I always preferred RiF, but I think we can all agree that every third party app was better than the dogshit OfFiCiaL rEdDiT aPp!

    jeena, in ✨ What is your favorite thing about kbin? ✨
    @jeena@jemmy.jeena.net avatar

    My favorite thing is that it’s not lemmy but is compatible and we can share the communities/magazines between the two implementations of the threadyverse.

    minnieo,
    @minnieo@kbin.social avatar

    i haven't really been on lemmy much, handful of times max, i much prefer how kbin looks and feels. can i ask why you like that it's not lemmy?

    jeena,
    @jeena@jemmy.jeena.net avatar

    Just the fact that we have two different implementations of the same concept which can interoperate is very very good. Actually I started on /kbin also but wanted to host it myself. I’m not sure about now but back then there was no documentation on how to host your own /kbin instance so I had to go with Lemmy.

    It's a better UI, and it had other federated content. I found I dont personally care for the twitter style of content, but its cool that it's there. Love to see other implementations in the future.
