Just did Long’s this past week for the 2nd time, my wife had to get revenge on this mountain after getting psyched out on the trough 13 years ago. absolute pain in the ass of a mountain but a beautiful experience at the same time… we call it “type 2 fun”, meaning you might not enjoy it while you’re doing it but you’re glad you did it once it’s over.
I have an iPad 1. I barely used it when it was given to me and then it more or less sat unused apart from the occasional booting to see if it still works every few years....
Is capitalism dying or will it just get more and more ruthless until like 10 people have 99.999% of the wealth? Is there a difference? Either way it seems like humanity will have to make a choice soon whether we want to keep propping up a system that has fundamentally failed them.
love my RG353M, can’t really see how the form factor for a pocketable horizontal device could be improved beyond it, besides a more powerful chip of course.
Not the best but Tubi has a few stand up specials. It technically is possible to download videos from Tubi using a site called Keepvid but it’s kinda jank and doesn’t always work right
Instead of focusing too much on all of the things that are currently wrong, could you please help paint a picture of what a future utopian society could look like?...
Decentralized localization of every possible energy generation system (renewables but if we’re dreaming here then the supposedly suppressed Zero Point / radiant / overunity energy systems). Post scarcity abundance levels of all essential items, but mainly food, again through the localized means of production with vertical farm towers if space is a constraint. Free travel to anywhere on the planet and beyond using suppressed anti gravity electrogravitic technology (you said I could dream). Free access to every form of media ever made and knowledge formerly sequestered behind paywalls or otherwise suppressed, and a free and open forum to discuss these things.
But most importantly a new way of thinking that is cooperation based instead of competition based, and a new economic system that renders the profit motive obsolete and money itself much less of a controlling factor in peoples lives (such as a resource based economy like The Venus Project)
Is there even an objective truth though? I’d say there technically is, but I think we all have our own subjective versions of what our “truth” is that rise and fall like a sine wave around the straight line of objective Truth.
Just remember that what is popular is not always true, and what is true is not always popular.
I discovered today that my most played game on Steam is Astronner with about 500 hours, and my second most played is Surviving Mars with about 500 hours.
almost exclusively electronic music, just can’t seem to get enough of it. (ambient, downtempo, drum & bass, dub, electro, glitch, goa trance, house, idm, psybass, psychill, psytrance, synthwave, techno). I’d be happy to try to give recommendations of any of these if you ask.
also love funk like Parliament/Funkadelic and some electronic focused jambands like STS9 & Lotus
I prefer my ambient to have a psychedelic aspect to it instead of just pure drone, so probably my favorite ambient artist is Ishq, namely his albums Orchid, Sama, And Awake, Bloom, and Lotus. Sinepearl and Chandanam are also artists that have a similar sound to Ishq. also check out Woob’s Repurpose album
getting into more of the psybient/psychill genre than pure ambient, mostly everything on Ultimae Records is gold imo (Solar Fields, Carbon Based Lifeforms, Cell, H.U.V.A. Network, Sync24, etc.)
well living in clown world doesn’t help, seeing as how we’re at least a hundred years behind where we should be if history didn’t go the way it did. if anyone’s to blame it’s JP Morgan after he shut down Tesla’s funding way back then.
I consider myself a leftist and I’m pro-gun. I think the Democratic Party platform being so strict on guns is idiotic given how unstable this country has become. Police response takes too long and even when they arrive, I not sure if we can trust them. In a perfect world, we might not need guns, but as of now, in this...
Sometimes I like to imagine what a library from a highly advanced race who have transcended the base concepts of copyright and currency in general would be like. If every person in the civilization could absorb any form of media ever made as well as knowledge formerly sequestered away behind paywalls or otherwise suppressed, just imagine what heights such a society could reach.
Right now, I have around 20TB of data in redundant ZFS mirrors, so I am somewhat protected against any single drive failing. Critical data is backed up at various cloud providers, but that’s only a few gigs of all my data....
I just have a Synology NAS running a Hyper Backup task to an external USB HDD that I physically drive to my parents house whenever I go there, at which point the new data gets copied to another external drive I keep there using rsync.
Not the most ideal solution but it works for now. Eventually it would be nice to get another NAS to keep at my parents house and have nightly backups going over the internet.
Considering the way there are people completely out of touch with reality (Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, Jeff Bezos come to mind, among many others), is it possible that maybe all that greediness made them lose their humanity? Probably not literally but I guess moreso in a metaphorical way.
Actual psychopaths have brains that are wired differently than normal people, they are literally not capable of feeling empathy or are able to feel the pain they caused that allowed them to amass their fortune. So yeah in a way I think that makes them less than human.
spoilers ahead I felt like the character conflict arcs were contrived and ultimately the idea of learning a language makes you a pre-cog fell flat for me. In science fiction, the big idea goes 'woo!' or the characters go 'woo!' but in the case of Arrival, nothing really went 'woo!'...
Definitely not the right place for this, but I'm yet to find the right place. I need an SSD/HDD that can store about 10 years worth of family photo and video. I was looking at that Samsung rugged SSD, but it's a little above my price range right now. I'e like to have at least a terabyte for future photos so I don't have to worry...
Anyone here watching Silo? The 8th episode just aired which means there are two episodes left. So far I’ve been enjoying this a lot despite some people claiming it was a little slow in the middle. It’s only 10 episodes long so even the whole thing goes by pretty quick....
What's the first name you always think of when asked to come up with a random name?
We must defeat the fucking capitalists (youtu.be)
What was the highest mountain you ever climbed and how was the experience?
Maybe include altitude in both metres and feet, otherwise 80% of comments will be about that whole discussion.
is there anything much useful I can do with an iPad 1? (not picture frame)

Why *is* everything going to shit?
Was just trying to explain to someone why everything is going to shit, specifically companies, and realized, I don’t fully get it either....

Hi all,...
Best place to stream or download Stand-up Comedy?
Besides YouTube. Been searching around and can’t seem to find some niche Comedy Specials.
What does an ideal world look like to you?

Why people can't handle the truth?
If faced with critical thinking, people tend to disregard what you’re trying to say and push back to their outlook.
In which game did you spend the most hours?
I discovered today that my most played game on Steam is Astronner with about 500 hours, and my second most played is Surviving Mars with about 500 hours.

Bands suggestions too, curious what folks are into!
Anyone else feel like ~99% of their life was kind of wasted?
In the last year or so I started to see so many people of my age that have done truly incredible things and still doing more....
People who live in the US, what is your opinion on firearms and where on the political spectrum do you find yourself in?

Do you believe in greedy multimillionaires having become some sort of lizards? Why or why not?

There was a Star Trek 2.0 series on G4 over a decade ago and the commercials were wild (redshirtsalwaysdie.com)
Lol the linked promos are all pretty funny robot chicken style. Scotty would make a great DJ.
