Great question! If it’s illegal to film a public servant then it is illegal to verify they are actually serving the public’s best interest. In particular if you catch a public servant performing amoral or otherwise corrupt behaviour there is no way to publicaly verify that. Further without explicit legal protections for things then it is easier for that action to be banned or otherwise made illegal. No protection is no protection. A corrupt public servant has a vested interest in misinterpreting law in order to prevent you from exposing them. Which is why Oklahoma’s ban on filming police is still bad even though it is framed under the guise of protecting police from harassment

Speaking as a former employee of local government I would much rather have to deal with a world where people can film me (I was in IT) than not be able to film cops. Obviously there will be issues that need to get ironed out as we go. That’s how everything works. But that shouldn’t stop us from implementing the thing that is obviously for the better

So the weird thing is you can still do this but only if YouTube thinks you’re the right audience for it. My grandfather looks up all kinds of old things on YouTube and almost always get exactly what he wants on the first hit. However if I do it it ends up more like your example. Interesting and annoying at the same time

you’re missing the point. There are a slew of contradictions in christian dogma that don’t make any sense at all. People who “punish” people are typically the good guys in stories. Take a sheriff in a western for instance. They chase the robber and throw them in jail as a form of punishment. The meme is just showcasing an example of how religion faulters under critical examination

Personally I’m in favor of extreme automation like self checkout. The real issue is that the workers don’t see the return the buisness owners do. Like imagine if we had UBI + good unemployment and then it wouldn’t really be an issue. Walmart would have to compete with people going home

That doesn’t make any sense at all. If 10% of apps are not getting users in china anymore then there’s fewer subscriptions and in-app purchases apple is getting a cut of (and we all know the actual math will be far harsher since china has a vested interest in blocking the most popular apps)

It becomes more and more meaningless when you start to talk about any form of regulation or extension of basic rights. Plenty of countries are coming around to the idea that housing is a basic right. It’s hard to raise prices when your competition is literally free. UBI + market regulations + basic human rights are all required. No solution exists in a vacuum and anyone who considers it as such is missing the point

The only reason it exists is to keep companies trapped in the MS ecosystem. They do this with all kinds of things. For instance at my work it’s required for all engineers to get Azure certified due to a deal we have with MS. They don’t care about their product. They don’t care about their users. Hell they don’t even care about their employees. It’s just B2b == money, all day every day

I tried the same thing and was flabbergasted at how badly optimized it is. It take ages to load in all three of the browsers I tried and it’s not even worth it since their feature set is 10 years behind the market!
