sygnius,

The other user is correct. I’d like to design and print out photo Christmas cards and mail them.

sygnius,

Thanks for everyone’s responses! Taking everyone’s advice and doing it local instead of online.

sygnius,

Not only using the VPN for that, but also, to take advantage of regional pricing for subscriptions in other countries. After the price hike, I’m paying $5 for Netflix in another country instead of the US price. Still get the same shows as a US subscription.

A grandmother was fatally shot in her car by an officer. It’s not his force’s only deadly encounter under scrutiny | CNN (www.cnn.com)

Early in their roughly nine-minute encounter, the 45-year-old, who said she’d been visiting someone at the address, told the officer she was looking for her misplaced keys, footage from his body-worn camera shows. Then the woman, Teresa Gomez, and the officer discussed why she and the passenger were parked outside a public...

sygnius,

The officer must’ve felt his life was threatened as she was driving away. That’s why he had to shoot.

sygnius,

Being charged is not the same as being convicted of a hate crime. It still needs to be proven beyond a doubt in court that it was a hate crime.

I hope they get his ass on that, but I’m not holding my breath that the courts can prove beyond a doubt.

sygnius,

That sounds like who they were marketing to…

Are phone notification LEDs still a thing?

Looking at all the features that older phones uses to have compared to newer ones, I never hear anyone talk about the removal of the notification LED. I personally really liked that feature, being able to see if I got an email, a text or missed a call without turning on my phone was awesome. My Samsung note 8 had this feature,...

sygnius,

This is what I use on my Pixel

sygnius,

Everything you said is how I assume would happen. Also after watching Painkiller on Netflix, I can see how it can get out of hand even with prescriptions back in the 80s and 90s.

sygnius,

This really is a weird story. If he was off-duty, how did he get access to the cockpit? Also, I could be wrong on this, but I remember reading somewhere that it’s not unheard of to turn off and on an engine mid-flight to restart it. Not sure if this was his intent, but it’s the only thing I could think of that sounds reasonable.

Fight over Texas anti-abortion transport bans reaches biggest battlegrounds yet (www.reuters.com)

Two Texas jurisdictions will consider measures this week to outlaw the act of transporting another person along their roads for an abortion, part of a strategy by conservative activists to further restrict abortion since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade....

sygnius,

So Texas is saying it’s illegal to transport people to another state if it’s for an abortion, but it’s encouraged to transport immigrants to another state if they’re undocumented?

What if it’s an undocumented immigrant that wants an abortion?

sygnius,

“The advantage that religion (and conservatives) has over magic or science is that man’s inability to understand is built into the system, so if an explanation is confusing or unsatisfying, it strengthens the point.” -Off to be the Wizard by Scott Meyer

sygnius,

Well, RCS was originally more fragmented before Google. Each carrier wanted to handle RCS messaging differently. T-Mobile made their own, but it only worked with other T-Mobile users.

Google was tired of waiting for all the carriers to agree and come up with their universal cross-carrier RCS platform, so they decided to come up with something that works with Google Messages, which is generally accepted as the RCS standard now.

sygnius,

Pong. They could flesh out the storyline a little more.

sygnius,

I keep forgetting that Snapchat is still around until I see a post like this

sygnius,

I didn’t even realize Sharp made phones. I guess it does make sense to rank that and Sony, since they’re both Japanese brands.

sygnius,

Just wanted to say that it’s not happening to me. Biometrics seem fine for me on my 6.

Not sure what would cause that to break on your end. Good luck tho.

sygnius,

Waiting for the third one to die now…

sygnius,

So first you say you don’t know any Android users that use Spotify, now you’re saying you know many Android users that use Spotify… so which is it?

sygnius,

Nice edit, bro.

sygnius,

I stopped subscribing in my own country and started subbing in other countries to take advantage of regional pricing. Now for the cost of less than a month of Crunchyroll in my country, I’m getting a full year. For Netflix, what would normally cost a month in my country, I get about 3 months worth of service.

sygnius,

Thanks for these comments. I’m going in to get cut in a month, and knowing these expectations will help me understand what’s going on.

sygnius,

Who tf still sleeps in a waterbed??? I thought they all disappeared in the 80s.

sygnius,

As an IT person, I was going to suggest this too. Glad you brought it up first.

sygnius,

The other difference is that the measurement is “scammed ONLINE”. Boomer generation will have fewer numbers overall that are heavy participants on the Internet, which I think would increase the chances of running into an online scam.

My mom barely even knows how to use a smartphone. So she’s not likely to be involved online long enough to interact with something that would scam her. However if she DID run into a scam, I’m pretty sure my mom would 100% fall for it.

sygnius,

Okay, I’m really confused by this. He did not own the vehicle, but this was a vehicle used in a crime the day before. How did the rapper end up driving the suspected car???

sygnius,

This whole article has a few confusing points, and the article never clarifies them. So the vehicle is confirmed to be involved with a shooting the day before. The vehicle does not belong to the rapper, but was driving it. How did the rapper acquire the vehicle? Was he actually involved in the shooting the day before or not? Did someone he knows give it to him? Lots of questions, bad article.

sygnius,

Install Pixel Experience, and use it to upload photos to your Google account without consuming your Google Drive data allotment.

sygnius,

This really worked for season 1 because you didn’t know which one of them was going to be the catalyst of the bomb. They should’ve disposed both of those characters at the end of the season, but NBC just wanted a money grab and bring them both back for something incoherent in the following seasons.

sygnius,

Losing RIF was a deal breaker. Since then, I switched to Sync for Lemmy and customized it pretty close to RIF. I love it. I’ll occasionally go back for niche groups, but generally prefer this now.

sygnius,

Farmers Insurance is a terrible insurance company. My HOA uses them, and they told us that if we filed another claim, they would drop us. I later found out my girlfriend’s HOA uses them too, and they were told something similar, almost word for word. Apparently, even if they deny a claim, they count it against you.

sygnius,

Would this actually work effectively in space?

sygnius,

Well, Portal 1 and 2 were both basically escape simulators too…

sygnius,

I left Reddit when they killed RIF. In Lemmy, I wanted something similar and tried Jerboa and Connect. Those apps didn’t really feel like RIF no matter how much I customized it. Sync really is the definitive replacement for the RIF experience. I gotten my version to look and feel like it exactly.
