sup,

Any non-paywall links?

sup,

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.

sup,

Did you get a chance to try Starfield yet? I’m on the fence, at least until there are some performance fixes.

sup,

Nice! That’s good to know. I was actually waiting for feedback on how it runs on the steam deck before taking the plunge (since that’s where I’m planning to play it most of the time). As long as it’s playable, I think it should be good.

sup,

Then you didn’t watch Eragon

Not counting games that were unfun because of bugs, what’s the most unfun video game that you’ve played and what made it unfun?

Most of the video games I’ve played were pretty good. The only one I can think of that I didn’t like was MySims Kingdom for the Nintendo DS. Dropped that pretty quickly. It was a long while ago, but I’ll guess it was because there were too many fetch quests and annoying controls.

sup,

Oh man, I thought I was the only one. I’ve tried to get into it so many times, but I can never enjoy it. I enjoy Minecraft, though.

In other unpopular news, I hate DOTA also. Friends tried to get me into it so many times, and I played a bunch of matches, but found it super overwhelming with all the different heroes and choices and found the entire gameplay boring.

sup,

Are you a more eloquent me? This is exactly what I feel about both Battle Royales and MOBAs. How and why? I just don’t see it. I have friends who enjoy both genres and I’ve talked to them many times and asked them to explain why they find it fun. I still don’t get it. Dark psychology indeed. That’s the only thing that explains it for me.

sup,

Interesting! Thanks for the recommendation. Sounds pretty co. I’ll definitely check it out

sup,

Yes, I’m excited too!

sup,

I agree 100%. They do extremely important work, but this was extremely shortsighted and a bad judgment call on their part.

sup,

Man, this reminds me of “Don’t Look Up” and it sucks.

sup,

There’s no turning back now

sup,

I agree, The Batman was amazing

sup,

I am really interested in getting one, but I’m planning to hold off until the cameras improve and reach flagship levels. Right now, that’s the only drawback, and the price of course.

Alternative to Google Photos

So I’m looking to disconnect myself from Google and their tracking (as much as possible) and I was thinking about installing GrapheneOS on my Pixel phone. I mostly use my phone for Lemmy, Signal, NewPipe and taking photos. The last one is my biggest bother at the moment. The Google Photos environment is so convenient - I take...

sup,

Immich! I’ve been using it for a while and it’s amazing

sup,

And that’s putting it lightly

I almost can’t believe it, but Google Tasks is finally kind of good (www.theverge.com)

For years, Google’s to-do list app Tasks was poorly integrated and underdeveloped. Recently, Google has combined all their reminder products into a single Google Tasks app that is accessible across Google products. While still lacking some advanced features, Google Tasks’ simplicity and integration make it easy to add tasks...

sup,

Yes! I thought it was just me. It’s crazy, I’ve missed so many reminders after moving over to Tasks

Any recommendations for cheap Android TV boxes?

Yes, I’m fully aware that the best way to have a streaming box is to run Linux on a Raspberry Pi, and if anyone has a guide for how to best set that up, connect to various streaming services, and allow casting from a phone then I’m very happy to check it out. However, I’ve heard Android TV boxes/sticks are still relatively...

sup,

It’s definitely not private, but is cheap-ish - Amazon Fire sticks. They’re great little devices, they run Android and apps can be sideloaded without issues.

sup,

Shouldn’t it be “You can’t cough if you’re unconscious”?

sup,

Well, I wouldn’t know

sup,

That’s awesome, thanks for sharing!

sup,

Thanks! Just tried it and it works perfectly. But, reddit didn’t feel the same anymore I can’t place my finger on why that is the case.

The content seems to have changed in the past month or so. I see better content on lemmy, at least stuff that I’m interested in.

Scrolling through my feed on Baconreader now felt like Facebook for some reason. Maybe some of my subs are still private, I don’t know, but things have definitely changed.

sup,

This is gonna go down in lemmy history

sup,

We will watch your career with great interest

sup,

Yup! I made the move about 5 years ago and never looked back since. Native performance, and it makes things super portable and very easy to move to another server. Just copy the docker volume and start the container on the new machine.

Super easy to switch between various versions too, if needed. And it also reduces chances of breaking stuff.

sup,

Wow, that’s massive! How’s the backup situation? Do you backup the data?

sup,

Freakin’ A! This is amazing, thank you!

sup,

Wow, that’s a LOT of Linux ISOs!

sup,

As a person who works in tech and is an early adopter for almost every new gizmo out there, I feel that we were better off back in the day when stuff was all analog and things were done manually.

Sure it was inconvenient, but it made us experience the world more and actually interacted with real people. I have crappy social skills and I have seen the change in myself over the years. I get anxious when my phone rings now, as opposed to being excited back in the day.
