I’ll start. Not to toot my own horn but I feel I’m at least partially responsible for getting a friend to see the value of romantic love, which she managed to find!
I insulated my own house despite not being particularly skilled (to say the least) and absolutely loathing DIY.
A bit more context. I live in a house that was built in the early 70s. When I bought it back in 2009, there was hardly any insulation and due to the way it was built it was draughty and cold. A few years ago, I had the walls insulated, which made the major rooms a bit warmer. However, the house was still cold, part of the problem being the crawlspace and concrete floor. Last year, I got all the debris out of my crawlspace and put a thick plastic film on the sandy floor. That had instant effects: not only did the humidity drop (and some occasional musty smells), but we also needed to use less natural gas to heat the house. This year, I finished that project by insulating the bottom of the concrete floor with thick rock wool. That job took me several weeks. First, i had to glue wooden slats to the bottom of the floor and then I had to apply the rock wool.
My DIY skills are poor. I did this alone. It was a hell of a job which I do not intend to do a second time. However, the rewards, both in terms of comfort and savings are great.
What kind of society or culture considered being friendly towards children a red flag? Spoken as both a father of two and former child: you can be friendly to children without being a creep.
As a fellow Dutchie: I miss the early 90s optimism. Nowadays, people are disillusioned and the hidden bigotry among which I grew up has become explicit up to the point of us having a fascist government.
Take a look at Group-Office. It has a community edition that is self-hosted and a paid professional edition. You can either self-host or host in their cloud.
I am recovering from an injury (groin - ouch), so if I am going to go running, it will be slow and short. Instead, I am catching up on same DIY projects.
My vote goes for J.S. Bach. One of my shower thoughts is that he would make a great experimental IDM artist. He would give Authechre a run for their money.
Early 90s eurohouse and/or hiphouse. I listened and still listen to many genres, but the kind of music I refer to, is not even worth being a guilty pleasure.
I feel like my house is constantly a fucking mess. My wife and I work 80 hours between us and we have a 2 year old and I feel like it’s constantly a mess....
At home, me and the wife try to split chores as evenly as possible. When she was struggling with burnout, one of her problems is that the house explodes into a mess, thanks to two children. One of the advices she was given by her therapist, is to block a few minutes a day for the entire family just to do minor cleanup chores. The mess remains, but it feels a bit more manageable now.
What is your definition of stability? I have used Arch for about ten years without any major breakage, but sometimes you do have to do some manual tinkering if a package stops working. So it’s stable enough for me, but maybe not for others. Since it is a rolling release, packages are generally being updated quite rapidly.
I think that any modern rolling release distro would fit the bill though.

The Cure and Joy Division changed my outlook on life and music. It is a bit difficult to say exactly why, but both bands turned me to the darker side of music across genres and periods.

What do you miss the most from the 90s?
For me it’s holding a VHS in the store and looking at the cover.
