It’s gotten a lot better lately but it’s still not 100% there yet. Push notifications still aren’t reliable, I often find myself getting a notification 10+ minutes after I get a message (sometimes more). It also uses too much mobile data because it seems to be updating too many things on startup.

It’s a fantastic message app and no amount of posts like this will change that fact. I get that it’s proprietary and therefore evil and all that, but literally nothing else compares. It’s so feature-rich and provides powerful features for server admins, and has a great ecosystem of bots and communities.

Matrix isn’t anywhere near as good and Revolt, let’s be real, is only good because it is UNAPOLOGETICALLY a 1:1 Discord clone. Even the settings menu is exactly the same. It’s also lacking a bunch of features.

It’s a very beginner-friendly distro, similar in goals to Linux Mint but more modern. It’s stable, comes pre-installed with graphics drivers and important apps like Wine, a custom clean version of Gnome or XFCE, and having a lot of UX improvements like explaining what Wine is the first time you open an exe file, and providing popular alternatives for the app you’re trying to install.

There’s nothing brand new about it, it’s just really solid and I do recommend it as people’s first distro.

Absolutely not. AI images can be mass-produced and two people using the same seed will be able to create the same image. If they’re copyrightable nothing would be stopping a company from making millions of images a day and copyright trolling anyone who tries to use them.

There’s also a lot of other issues like image AIs being trained on real copyrighted data, so nothing stops me from saying “Hey, generate an image of Kirby”. It’s hard to argue that you own that image when it clearly depicts something that isn’t yours.

In my experience ONE person using the same seed will not be able to create the same image.

I mean actual seed, not prompt. If you’re using something like Stable Diffusion it gives a seed number with each image. Using the same prompt and seed number gives exactly the same image.

Every AI image creator has blacklisted words/tags for preventing copyright abuse or prevent creation of offensive images.

Only the ones you can’t run locally. Most people still use Stable Diffusion because it’s the most powerful and open, and that lets you create anything you’d want and allows you to train it on whatever you’d want. You can make a model based on 500 images of Kirby and it can make similar-looking images with the same art style.

There’s also nothing stopping you from sitting down at your desk and drawing a picture of Kirby with a pen.

This argument never made sense to me. If I’m drawing it, I put in the effort and made it with my own hands. AI image generators can mass-produce images. Not to mention that they’re based off other people’s work, not yours. It’s not the same.

Terraria’s wiki might be the most detailed wiki I’ve ever seen. It has everything about the game, from in-depth guides to small details on each enemy like their AI type to trivia and history of everything related to the game. It really is amazing.

Oh, and you can choose the theme of the wiki in the top to be one of many biomes from the game. Great stuff.

It hasn’t. I’ve only bought ~4 games at full price the last decade, now I just wait for them to be around $20. The $70 price seems to be more focused on cashing in on people that buy on release, but prices go down all the same only like one year after release.

It is honestly interesting that half this blog post is talking about moving to the new engine when they said the same thing ~2 years ago. Have they really spent all this time restarting development?

Well, it’s fantastic as long as you’re okay being lost, confused, and having to solve obscure puzzles.

Evernote has just been abysmal lately that I took all my notes and left. They’ve been getting so annoyingly greedy that it’s just unusable now.

  • Every time I open the app it spawns a pop-up ad telling me there’s a limited time offer that will disappear if I close the ad, trying to FOMO people into buying it now
  • They slowly restricted usage on devices to just being logged into 2 at the same time. Oh, and you can’t just keep swapping between them because there’s a cooldown (buy premium NOW!11!1!)
  • They completely ruined the minimal aesthetic it had going on and are shoving random features nobody asked for like AI cleanup and AI powered search
  • They constantly bait you into trying features and then telling you it’s premium-only. They ruined the home screen but that’s okay, you can just customize it- Oops! You need premium to save your settings.

Good riddance. No idea how anyone puts up with it anymore.
