Die AfD Politiker sind etwas deutlicher in der Formulierung welche Konsequenzen ihr Anliegen hat, aber es läuft doch aufs gleiche raus. Wer glaubt Merz meint was er sagt, landet bei dem Anliegen der AfD: Grenzen dicht, pushbacks, Zuschauen wie Menschen sterben weil sie nach Europa/Deutschland wollen.

Having grown up in a religious household, these definitions seem more restrictive to me that they should be. Religious people see religious behavior even where there is no supernatural god involved. In their eyes, the god of an atheist soccer fan is soccer, and they see much of his behavior as just as religious as theirs. In that world view, it’s just the question of a false or true god.

And from that point of view OP’s question is very very valid.

Why does it matter to you, if that makes you religious? The understanding of “religious” from the point of view of an atheist is different than from a theist to begin with.

Believing in things we don’t understand is the normal human behavior. Everyone, including Carl Sagan, must believe in things they doesn’t understand, to live their life. That in itself is not a problem.

The differentiation between problematic and live-your-life belief is how you react when you understand a misunderstanding of a previous belief. Will you change your belief, or do you dogmatically stick to it?

Occasionally, like once or twice a year I need to print something on paper. The printer in the office never works though, and the reaction of my boss is usually “oh yes we should do something about that”, which nobody ever does. I usually go to a copy shop then.

What’s the suggested connection between lockdowns and soaring housing costs?

At least in Germany raising housing costs have been on steroids since at least 2015 or so. It’s insane now, but I can see quite different reasons for that than those lockdowns or excessive mask purchases.

I have done this with calibre and a Kindle, worked fine.

Nowadays I prefer reading on my phone, and loading ePubs on any eBook reader is a non brainer.

Same, although aws is my plan b. For plan a I have an older Synology that is a full backup target.

Raid is no backup. Raid helps you against drive failure.

Backup helps you if you or some script screwed up your data, or you need to go back to last months version of a file for whatever other reason.

Aws helps if your house burns down and you need to set up again from scratch.

I’m stunned that you are unfamiliar with the versioning feature of backups. In my bubble this has been best practice since Apple came along with the Time Machine, but really we tried that even before with rsync, albeit only with limited success.

This is different from git because this takes care about all files and configurations, and it does so automatically. Furthermore it also includes rules when to thin out and discard old versions, because space remains an issue.

Synologys backup tool is quite similar to Time Machine, and that’s what I am using the second NAS for. I used to have a USB hard drive for that task, but it crashed and my old Synology and a few old disks were available. That’s better because it also protects against a number of attacks that make all mounted paths unusable.

Git is not a backup tool. It’s a versioning tool, best used for text files.

Ja, ich lag als Student wochenlang mit Husten im Bett, weil mein neuer Hausarzt mir irgendwelche homöopathischen Mittel gab. Erst nach 3 Wochen ohne Erfolg griff er widerwillig und abwertend zu Schulmedizin. Hab erst hinterher begriffen dass es Ärzte gibt, die “keine Behandlung” für die richtige Behandlung halten, und dass es Apotheken gibt, die Päckchen als “Medizin” verteilen, wo gar keine Medizin drin ist.

Mir ging es wochenlang echt dreckig, und die absichtliche Nichtbehandlung verstehe ich im Nachhinein als Angriff auf meine Menschenwürde.

Natürliche Heilmittel gibts, z.B. Thymian oder eine Reihe anderer Kräuter und Wurzeln. Weit besser als Zucker Pillen.

Nein, die zeitgenössischere Weise die Macht an sich zu reißen ist langsam und systematisch. Zuerst eine Justizreform, die sicherstellt dass ein oberstes Gericht der Politik nicht mehr Einhalt gebieten kann oder will. Dann schrittweise Abschaffung der Pressefreiheit, gepaart mit Konzentration der Presse in wenige treue Hände, und Schritt für Schritt von Freiheiten für Frauen und Minderheiten. Schulreformen mit dem Ziel der Geschichtsrevision, Bücherverbote. Nutzung von digitaler Kontrolle um Wortführer liberalen Gedankenguts ausfindig und mundtot zu machen.

Normalisierung von Gewalt und Tötungsgedanken gegen den politischen Gegner, Anfeuern von stochastischem Terrorismus, der allenfalls feigenblattmäßig verfolgt wird.

Das alles braucht kein ausgerufenes viertes Reich, und das ist das was du mit abwarten bekommst.

Das beobachten wir bereits in Ungarn, Polen, Israel, USA, Italien. Nächste Schritte sind Jugend Organisationen und Milizen die den Terror gegenüber Minderheiten und politischen Gegnern systematisieren, und diese sind die Mittel zur ausgerufenen Machtergreifung. In USA gab es dafür bereits den ersten Versuch, und es wird nicht dabei bleiben. Derzeit terrorisieren die Milizen dort Lokalpolitik um die dort engagierten normalen Leute zu verdrängen und die Lokalpolitik zu übernehmen, insbesondere diejenige die für die Veranstaltung von Wahlen zuständig ist.

Man erinnere sich dass Hitler zuerst gescheitert ist mit einem Putschversuch der bayrischen Regierung. Das war 1923, die ausgerufene Machtergreifung erst 1933. Das kam nicht plötzlich, es war lange vorbereitet. Der Atem der Faschisten ist lang, und die gehen systematisch vor. Abwarten bis sich für dich was ändert ist deren Erfolgrezept.

And just because you may share a trait does not mean you will get a diagnosis. But that also does not mean that you think totally neurotypical. This is not binary, it’s all spectrum.
