When I’m unhappy, I feel like I’m doing life wrong. I’d rather be happy. But is happiness the point of life, or is there more to it? If I pursue happiness, mine first then for those around me, is that selfish? But if there’s a bigger purpose, then what about people with Alzheimer’s or dementia who can’t recall recent...
I personally think the purpose of life is to reproduce. Everything we are is just because it made us better at surviving and multiplying. We are merely animals.
I dont think we need to have kids just because that’s what we exist for. We’re intelligent enough to go against our basic instincts if we wish. In that optic, we all need to find our own purpose!
I just managed to get a absolute baseline working app in avaloniaUI using this library that someone cooked up. No idea if the library is actively maintained, but uh, we’ll figure that out when we get to it....
I don’t find the community browser that easy to use, and sometimes I just wish I could ask “is there a place for X”, or maybe just discover some more niche communities I wouldn’t have thought about.

Sometimes most people with the knowledge are gone, the people left need to keep things relatively up to date for security reasons, but the legacy systems aren’t as nice, so it takes time and is generally unfun to do. Sometimes a new law in Europe goes live and you should be able to add a pop-up somewhere, but when you follow the docs on how to update stuff, it doesn’t even work for a myriad of reasons. It’s not like maintaining a software for 12 years really, which a ton of businesses do successfully. When you’re just keeping something alive that works and almost never crashes, you get to a point where doing mandated new updates gets harder and harder. And now with the shops gone, there’s even less of a money incentive to keep the thing going :(
My next game i start will be Star Ocean First Departure R. And if i finsih that game fast enough i probably play either Persona 4 Golden or a rerun of Nier Replicant....
Is fantasy life a jrpg? I picked it back up after not playing for a while and I’m having a blast. I regret not having bought the dlc before the store closed however :(
My 13 hour flight just got delayed 7 hours, I’m stuck at my second airport, and I dont think I’m gonna make it. I have some movies and audio books on my phone, but really only anticipated having to burn the flight time via napping and some media, not 7 hours leading up to it, and I’m pretty sure I’m gonna mentally burn...
I had bought about 5 lbs of free range foster farms chicken thighs and every thigh was covered in feather quills. It was in 4 different packages so I’m not really convinced it was a one off....
I like learning about random ass hobbies without ever indulging in them.
I watch an ungodly amount of aquarium / terrarium videos, lurk a ton of aquascaping communities. I owned a betta fish in an empty bowl when I was 12 and that’s it. (poor fish)
I read all you could know about book binding fanfiction, never done it.
I read a hundred pages long horse breeding guide for the game black desert online and I have no idea why. I only played the game for a month, spent most of it reading a google doc about horse. I’m not even sure I owned a horse in the game.
Sometimes I try the hobby, for example mini painting, and don’t have the patience for it. But I still watch some random dudes on youtube paint for hours and sometimes they don’t even talk!
While I agree with you, I’d really love the possibility of block whole instances, just for me. I don’t want my instance from defederating from much, but I’d like for example to block all the porn without having to find myself some christian lemmy instance to move to lol
Holidays and special occasions are sometimes tough, with family shoving food in my face, but I just exercise extra hard afterward, lol.
I think that’s the best way to go about it, eating like a monk literally all the time is much harder than eating well the majority of the time, at least for me lol.
The guilt is an enemy as well, I’m the type to go “well, I’ve broken my diet strike, might as well eat a sundae” in a sort of self hate spiral that makes no sense. If I allow myself to indulge in expected moments I feel much better. Like, literally everyone around the table at christmas goes like, “I ate way too much”, I shouldn’t feel bad for feeling the same haha
I boil the pasta in sugared cacao water, this might be the most important step as it turns the pasta brown. Yellow pasta looks unappetizing if you skip this step.
Then you make a ganache using your favourite chocolate. For me it’s toblerone, I find the little nougat bits add a cool texture. I melt it in a bowl over the boiling pasta and mix with cream, it is very efficient! Everything should be ready to mix at the same time!
It seems that everything turned into scams, aggressive self marketing and just click bait irrelevant content. I liked finance videos, but every creator sounds like “the world will end soon” or “my secret method to make 1 million per week day trading stocks/forex/crypto.”...
School in general. It was so much work. Homework is torture, at least now once my day is finished I don’t have to worry about it until the next morning.
Now that you say it, actually highschool was pretty chill. I was living on my own in college, so it was your whole list, plus classes, plus homework, and that was the real hell.
Hello, bees! I like playing around in the kitchen, but I feel like I really have no idea what I’m doing with the fundamentals. I’m enjoying the learn-from-experience process, but am looking for something to supplement. I recently started reading / listening to Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat (by Samin Nosrat). I’m liking it so far,...
I second Ethan’s channel! He has a few videos on how he preps his meals, or how he organizes food around his days so he doesn’t need to reach to takeout when he doesn’t have time to cook and stuff like that.
Here’s the whole listing! So happy it’s still up. The house is really consistently decorated. Wouldn’t have expected to see football memorabilia and goth aesthetic to match so well.

My chicken thighs were covered in pinfeathers. Is this common or did i just get a bad batch?

What is a hobby you enjoy, but seems too quirky or obscure to bring up in most conversations?
Mine would be creating pen and paper ciphers for my made up secret communication needs.
This still baffles me, but I guess it's good for federation? (i.imgflip.com)
