fallingcats,

Ich hätte es wissen müssen, auf dieser Plattform hat noch nie jemand Verknüpfungen auf Benutzerprofile so formattiert, dass diese auch funktionieren.

Polish Hackers Repaired Trains the Manufacturer Artificially Bricked. Now The Train Company Is Threatening Them (www.404media.co)

The situation is a heavy machinery example of something that happens across most categories of electronics, from phones, laptops, health devices, and wearables to tractors and, apparently, trains. In this case, NEWAG, the manufacturer of the Impuls family of trains, put code in the train’s control systems that prevented them...

fallingcats,

Then why’d you call them criminals

fallingcats,

They did say the manufacturer removed the override key combination

fallingcats, (edited )

Yeah, but implicit multiplication without a sign is often treated with higher priority.

fallingcats,

Please read the article, that’s exactly what it’s about. There is no right answer.

fallingcats,

I don’t know a single language that lets you use a name starting with a number for anything off the top of my head

fallingcats,

I’d say engineers like to be exact, but they like being lazy even more

fallingcats,

Thanks for putting my thoughts into words, that’s exactly why I hate math. It was supposed to be the logical one, but since it only needs to be parsed by humans it failed at even that. It’s just conventions upon conventions to the point where it’s notably different from one teacher/professor to the next.

I guess you can tell why I went into comp-sci (and also why I’m struggling there too)

fallingcats,

No, the aswer clearly is 2x+4.

Entering symbols one by one into a calculator is a fundamentally different process from writing them in a sentence.

Citation needed.

No but seriously, why do you think it necessarily needs to be different? There are calculators that use actual fraction notation and all that

fallingcats,

Read TFA

fallingcats,

I refuse to accept x as a multiplication sign. Multiplication ist either or maybe * but never x and certainly not ×, because that’s a cross product

fallingcats,

The correct translation is:

Me, after an oncoming car knocked a ton of snow only my windshield while on a curve, because they didn’t bother to clean it.

fallingcats,

Wrong color space to blend these colors. Should’ve used a perceptual color space

fallingcats,

Hardware bring up is when you design a pcb or something and there doesn’t yet exist any firmware for it. It would be the ability to debug the board and write firmware for it.

fallingcats,

Ach, bei euch in DE auch?

fallingcats,

The template is just “Roses are red …” but you might be referring to the more general term “snow clone”

Wenn du’s probierst kannst du verlieren. Wenn nicht hast du schon verloren.

Eine Wärmepumpe braucht ein paar kW. LED-Beleuchtung ein paar Watt. Wir sprechen da von einem Promille.

fallingcats,

fallingcats,

It sounds more like you’re trying to convince people (and maybe yourself) of that than a statement of fact you’re sure about.

fallingcats,

Well here’s a pretty lukewarm take for you: Souls aren’t a thing

fallingcats,

OT faunfact: most worn fabrics are machine-knit and not woven, because knitting produces a stretchier fabric

fallingcats,

If you’ve never heard about overfitting you don’t know much about the way these tools are built. They very much can remember a single input image.

fallingcats,

I’m not sure what you mean by that

fallingcats,

You’re making a mistake there. Robots aren’t always cheaper. It’s not like someone invents a new robot and suddenly it’s everywhere because “robots are always cheaper”. Robots are cheaper where they are being used, because they wouldn’t be used otherwise.New robots aren’t as much invented as made feasible by advances in manufacturing methods.

fallingcats,

Not once on my life have i known what temperature my coffee is or should be.

fallingcats,

You forgot to consider that people interact with ovens and freezers

fallingcats,

This is the most unhinged thing I’ve read all week

fallingcats,

Nah, it’s correct because their spirit got knocked out of their body

fallingcats,

If you cut the ends before frying then they’ll do that

fallingcats,

Some people may see all morales as God given and therefore absolute

fallingcats,

Sorry but no, it’s not in any way solid. Some think of what they see as sinful as harmful.

fallingcats,

It does say “collar for women” as the first suggestion on amazon.com in inkognito

fallingcats,

As a nano user, time to power it off and on again (sabotage the electrical system)
