The only reason I think I get it is because I just saw a post above this about a senate staffer being caught filming a gay porn video in the senate chamber. I assume buss is supposed to mean ‘bussy’. Seems like a stretch though

emeralddawn45,

The sarcasm flying over people’s heads in this thread is killing me lmao

emeralddawn45,

They use the small papers and just leave a tiny little space at the end where the filter would usually go, and it just gets all smashed down and soggy. That’s why people used to use “roach clips” because the end of the joint would be a soggy, tarry mess that you couldn’t hold on to. I don’t know why anyone who’s ever smoked one of those shitty little joints would ever insist they’re superior to one with a cardboard filter in any way.

emeralddawn45,

I’m not even American but this is way less intuitive for everyday use. I don’t need some abstract measure of how efficient my car is being. My fuel tank is measured in liters, when I fill up i pay by the liter, I want to know how far I can go on x liters. Not have to do a bunch of mental math to reverse the equation for my gas tank with 40 liters in it. I have 40l, I can go x*40 km. Mental multiplication is way easier than mental division.

emeralddawn45,

Right so in that scenario that measurment makes sense but for the average person in their day to day life it’s much less useful. And my car doesn’t have a fancy computer that tells me the efficiency. Or measure in accurate increments how much fuel is in the tank. So if I wanted to know how efficient my engine is, the best way to do it would be start on empty, add a liter of fuel, and see how far I could drive it, which is probably why and how that measurement became commonplace. Because cars have been around alot longer than computers.

I’ve been using a $20 air remote off Amazon for years now. The tracking is honestly incredible and the device is built like an old Nokia phone. I’ve launched it off the bed or couch hundreds of times, even had the plastic casing bust open, but when I clicked it back together it still works good as new, and it’s even good enough to play simple point and click/mousepowered games on the TV. The front is all media/TV controls and the back is a full keyboard, with a toggled backlight. It’s honestly so much better than any of the media center remotes I’ve used including the apple tv one or the firestick one.

emeralddawn45,

I’ve never had a single issue with Firefox for Android and I’ve run it on all my phones for like 6-7years at least, probably more but I don’t remember.

emeralddawn45,

Ublock is so good at being 'set and forgettable I’ve gone beyond just suggesting it to friends and family who aren’t very tech literate, and just installed it for them. I’m sure I can’t be the only one. But these people would likely go straight back to consuming ads rather than try to figure out why their ad blocker stopped working. That’s sad but it’s true.

emeralddawn45,

Well that’s a pretty specific use case, I’ve only ever met one person with a foldable phone. But yeah they should probably fix that.

emeralddawn45,

I think China Ferrari is a person? That’s the only way I could get it to make any sense

emeralddawn45,

I mean their backyard is also pretty much the vulcans backyard. For the most part they’re exploring places the vulcans have been, or have been near. Iirc only a few places they go were totally unknown in the vulcan database.

emeralddawn45,

If you wanna grow upside down plants just use a mirror duh.

emeralddawn45,

But wouldn’t the reason it’s bad for ants to read also apply to anyone else? So this is subtly implying that reading turns kids evil, not a great message for a librarian to spread… /s sorta

What's an alternative to Spotify that doesn't play you the same fucking songs over and over?

I am in an intense love-hate relationship with Spotify. It makes good mixes for me, I have found a lot of great bands that way. BUT IT KEEPS REGURGITATING THE SAME SONGS IN THERE. I know about Song Radios and Artist Radios, so please don’t recommend those. Smart Shuttle doesn’t cut it, either....

emeralddawn45,

That is not a lot of music. I had my old 80gb iPod filled to the brim with more on my computer back in the day. And those were just ordinary mp3s, not flac or lossless or anything. Nowadays I have like 10000 songs in my spotify library. I moved away from mp3s because curating and downloading that many songs is a pain and quite time consuming compared to just clicking a heart on spotify. Plus spotify is now primarily how I find new music, so ts just way easier than switching to a browser and manually downloading whatever cool song I just found, and having to fix tags or whatever. Especially since I’m usually doing something else while listening. With spotify I can save a song without even unlocking my phone. I also always listen to my whole library on shuffle and haven’t had any issues with it.

emeralddawn45,

It depends on your preferences I guess, but I would consider all of those good for when smoking weed but not great for shrooms. When on mushrooms I prefer animated or fantasy movies, nothing thats going to remind me of modern society. Recently we watched Pikachu detective and that was good, mario movie was great. Luca was really good and fun.

Midnight gospel is a fucking amazing show somewhat reminiscent of waking life, it takes a sort of podcast form where the main character travels between different worlds/dimensions and has philosophical conversations with the beings he encounters, with surreal and absurd visuals and accompanying situations.

Oh also dungeons and dragons was incredible and exciting on mushrooms.

emeralddawn45,

Yeah it seems like it was just the sort of thing OP wanted too, I just wanted to give a different perspective on it. I personally don’t find comedies all that funny on shrooms, to me it seems like everyone is overactive and being annoying usually, but I’m glad he got a good recommendation out of it :).

emeralddawn45,

Yeah I’ve got like 8000 and there have been times when it feels like it’s focusing on newly added stuff, but older stuff definitely does pop up and I feel like it’s a pretty good mix. 90% of the time I’ve just got my whole library on shuffle unless I’m actively looking for new stuff to add.

emeralddawn45,

I’m pretty sure this is wrong. From what I understand, automix just blends together the ending and beginning of the two songs. For example if there’s silence at the end of one song, or ‘compatible’ music, the ‘ai’ will try to smooth out the transition like a dj would while making a mix.

Edit: yup, that’s what it is support.spotify.com/ca-en/…/tracks-transitions/

emeralddawn45,

Does everyone on 4chan have a humiliation fetish? That’s a rhetorical question, because obviously who else would go on 4chan.

emeralddawn45,

Well it says that many companies are spending extremely low amounts, like $10 on ads. So I assume musk has just been giving away ad space to try to keep those accounts open for as long as possible.

emeralddawn45,

The idea is that one guilty man is capable of harming far more innocent people. You don’t want innocent people harmed because of false accusations, but you’re okay with 'several guilty mentioning free to avoid that, even though those several men will likely end up reoffending and harming more innocent people/children? Obviously there has to be a balance…

emeralddawn45,

‘Wibbly wobbly timey wimey stuff’ is my favorite 5 word technical sounding phrase.

emeralddawn45,

I buy matcha powder and take it by the spoonful, washing it down with water. Quick and effective and way smoother than coffee

emeralddawn45,

Yeah it has quite a bit of caffeine, and other alkaloids that I find balance it out much better than coffee. It’s very smooth stimulation, not jittery like coffee can be. Full of antioxidants too for some nice health benefits.

emeralddawn45,

No they aren’t, sometimes they’re really down to earth.

emeralddawn45,

Ich is also a disease that fish get so maybe that’s it?

emeralddawn45, (edited )

Wait so our already warm and (relatively) snow less winters over the last few years are now gonna be even warmer and less snowy? Good thing global warming’s not real and this is totally just a phase mother earth is going through or something.

emeralddawn45,

I mean I heard Winnipeg is a frozen Shithole from a very reputable source so that tracks. In ontario though winter basically stopped existing 10 years ago.

emeralddawn45,

Two days of snow sure doesn’t seem like the winter I remember. In the winter I remember you’d have 4 or 5 big snows like that and the snow would stick around for the rest of the season. Now if you don’t rush out to build your snowman the next day, your chance is gone.

emeralddawn45,

Better than seven of nine. Fight me.

emeralddawn45,

Sg1 is so good imo. It’s like lower decks is to the rest of trek. Still thought-provoking and interesting at its best, but at its worst it’s just a whole lot of cheesy fun. Voyager straight up copied some episodes from it, or at least was “heavily influenced” by episode concepts.

emeralddawn45,

My favorite (and quickly becoming the only sort I can tolerate) of npc dialog is where it shows the scene of them speaking with the voice over, but also shows the subtitles and you can skip to the end of the sentence without skipping the whole thing. Now when I play a game with skippable cutscenes that don’t do that I have to physically hold myself back from trying to skip it, and if it’s unskippable altogether I just get ptsd.

emeralddawn45,

Assuming your numbers sre even correct, id say thats more an issue with the cdc underreporting mental health issues than with Canadians being more predisposed. Also what is your point exactly?

emeralddawn45,

This thread is literally about the leaders and politicians you yourself said are the problem though. Noone mentioned “(almost) everyone from a country/culture”, the meme specifically shows high level nazis who are now (or were) high level decision makers in world governments.

emeralddawn45,

What makes life on another planet more worthwhile than life here? Also humans didn’t take that long to evolve so there’s plenty of opportunity for a successor to us to reach the stars in a way that causes less suffering. For that matter, we could have simply taken a couple hundred extra years to get there and reduced human suffering by like a thousandfold with a more equitable society. Bloody stupid capitalist nonsense.

emeralddawn45,

If you kill 1000 killers the number of killers in the world decreases by 999 though.

emeralddawn45,

Not if at least one of the killers was already a serial killer.

emeralddawn45,

I first got it a year ago and it was almost exactly 2 days. I was with my family all day on a Thursday, my brother tested positive on Friday, and after work on Saturday I felt like absolute shit all night. Tested myself at 5am Sunday after not sleeping and was positive.

emeralddawn45,

You’re the one misunderstanding I think. The person is still going to die at some point, but the idea is that it’s vital to call the ambulance BEFORE they die, otherwise they will die quicker and the ambulance won’t be able to help. That said, everything you ever do is something you do before you die.

emeralddawn45,

This makes perfect sense and I’m actually kinda dumbfounded at the number of people (deliberately?) misunderstanding it. Like you didn’t say the book was called ‘50 things to do before you die immediately and with certainty’. Idk a lot of these comments make no sense.

emeralddawn45,

Everyone dies sometime, so everything you ever do, you do before you die. It doesn’t say ‘die immediately’. If you call am ambulance because you’re choking, you called before you died. And hopefully they got there in time to stop you from dying from choking.

emeralddawn45,

That’s okay, I’m sure the lemmygrad and hexbear users are embarrassed to find out you use it too.

emeralddawn45,

I feel like you’re the one mythologizing your childhood, and the original movies only seem ‘lighthearted’ when viewed through a lens of nostalgia and time passed. The original movies really aren’t that lighthearted if you really think about them, stuff filmed in the 70s just has that Patina of age that makes it hard to take seriously.

emeralddawn45,

How is that any different from any other alcoholic drink?

emeralddawn45,

If you’re a white guy since the 80s what were you before that?

emeralddawn45,

This is a terrible idea. There’s plenty of resources out there that has links to everything you could ever want, why would it all need to be stored in one place. The piracy megathread has resources for everything you mentioned, with redundancies and multiple sources. It’s really not that hard to find anything you need. If I want a book I go to a certain site, if I want software or games I have 2 or 3 torrent sites, if I want to stream TV or movies I have dedicated sites for that. What good does putting it all in one spot do except make that a bigger target?

emeralddawn45,

I don’t remember much of angel but in supernatural it’s eldritch creatures posing as billionaires to control and dumb down humanity to use them as a perpetual food source. Actually pretty deep and prescient for an older show.
