I think that the correct answer could be not the “original” Steam oled. I mean the demand for retro-compatible oled display will be huge, so maybe someone will figure out how eventually install third party screen. Still just a speculation right now.

Cmon, a bit less. Meme aside i refuded my deck also because x the same bucks i’ll get the double of the storage. The lcd screen with vibrant plugin is quite good as is it.
The have changed completely the internal hardware. The only hope is either to have some kind of adapter or a completely different compatible monitor in future.
Bigger battery> 6nm processor (less energy)> OLEDs more energy efficient> Better cooling (new bigger quiet fan)> Faster wifi 6 — from 30% to 60% more battery life (variable)
As pc gamer (and new Deck owner) i’ve started to check any good game deal, mostly x games on Steam but not only. I’ve soon realize that there are great site like Humble to use to buy keys for cheap, but also “shady” sites with very low price who apparently sell non working keys or try to scam you. Did we have a list of...
Kinguin for example is one of those site i would like to hear more opinion and experience about. I’ve read different opinins on the old Redead social before. It seems a 3 to 1 situation there. I even buyed a small indi there using PayPal and so far I had no issues. Any experience about this site???
They are far too convenient. Considering the price for a “medium long termn” game pc, the cost of energy, the lack of portability ecc. Is clearly more convenient to have a console and a medium spec Desk/pc portable for work. Ofk you sacrifice graphic quality but to be honest i already played most of my games in 1080p on my old desktop. With the console and a “dock” solution you end up playing the same kind of game on your monitor and you also have the full portability. OFK with an AAA game your battery run out quickly but any casual Indi game runs for hour and 99% of them are perfect to play on small screen.
I just brought a new Steam Deck and I’m playing Control on my nice 27" pc monitor with a cheap dock and my old controller. If you want a big visual this is the best way. People didn’t realize that 800p in a monitor so small is already pretty close to the definition of a retina display. The Deck monitor is quite good, especially if you install decky and the Vibrant plugin to increase the saturation of the colors. I use the deck monitor to play in the 99% of the cases. If you want a bigger, better monitor just buy a dock.
EDIT - You know? In hindsight maybe there could be a better monitor solution afterall… 🤔
The essence of this unconventional amalgamation lies in its absurdity. We chose the Solidigm P5336 enterprise SSD, offering a staggering 61.44TB capacity. While the capacity is amazing, it leverages an enterprise U.2 form factor, which is problematic given the Steam Deck’s M.2 slot. As such, an M.2 to external U.2 adapter from...
I think that beyond 1, max 2 tb is just a waste to have more storage, you’ll just end up stuck with the " Netflix dilemma" all the time. Every game is already in your Steam library (or the other ones) as it is. Even if the wifi download take time, with a cheap dock and a cable connected to the modem you can download all your title quite quickly. With 2 tb there should be also enough room for “free games” files.
I just plugged the steam deck in to a monitor and while I was transferring some roms and started to wonder if it would be feasible to use as a day to day computer while docked.
I think that as desktop the Deck could be as good, if not better of any Linux pc. Not sure with Windows OS. As portable pc, technically you can make it work with some cheap Bluetooth keyboard+mouse but that would look a bit too strange and the monitor is quite small x daily works. Still doable.

Is anyone using the steam deck as their day to day computer?
