door_in_the_face,

Bottom left looks like forced organ harvesting? Not sure how often that actually happens to children, but the world is a fucked up place so it’s possible I suppose.

door_in_the_face,

Yeah sure. Maybe you could make the argument that humans should leave stuff like that for other scavengers who need the nutrients to survive, and instead opt for plant foods. But at those edge scenarios you would then also have to take into account the impact that plant agriculture has on wildlife. It’s quite possible that scavenging and gathering is the most vegan option, but seeing how it’s neither viable for a lot of people nor something that often comes up in daily life, it’s easier to just generalize vegan food as plant based.

door_in_the_face,

I think that may have been a joke.

door_in_the_face,

But “You’re already fluffy” works without another main verb?

door_in_the_face,

This is the stuff that SCP’s are made of.

door_in_the_face,

The design of the bars is borrowed from the European energy efficiency labels for electronics. On those labels, longer bars mean higher energy consumption. So it’s probably meant to reptesent either fuel use or general environmental impact here.

door_in_the_face,

Yes, occasionally hearing your neighbors is just as inhumane as having no shelter, water and heating.

door_in_the_face,

I’m not gonna dox myself here bg linking my adress, but rest assured: I have been living in apartments all my adult life, and it’s been fine. The problems you describe are not inherent to apartments but rather the way landlords handle things. With better regulations and organizations that help renters assert their rights, it can be a good way to house people.

What is your comfort activity (like comfort food)?

Mine is playing AOE2 in easiest (or standard if I want a bit of challenge) mode against 3 bots. I just build my economy, wall up (and laugh at the enemy soldiers attacking my walls in vain), reach imperial age and attack once my army reaches the population limit. I also send 104 in the chat so they don’t surrender and I can...

door_in_the_face,

I play heroes of the storm vs AI. It’s pretty fun.

Nebraska governor signs executive order defining men as "bigger, stronger and faster" (boingboing.net)

Nebraska governor Jim Pillen, a Republican not noted as a women’s rights supporter, yesterday issued an executive order “defining” males and females and the attributes thereof. The anti-transgender political grandstanding offers fusty explanations of the sexes–men are “bigger, stronger and faster” on average–in...

door_in_the_face,

Just write off the day and start again tomorrow. Maybe set a bit lower calorie goals for the next couple of weeks.

door_in_the_face,

Yes, absolutely. You can also combine both proposals, and have apartment blocks near those neighborhood shopping centers. The people who want their yards and lawns can have them, there’s room for more people who don’t mind living in an apartment, and the businesses that open in those town/neighborhood centers have more customers living close by. I live in a city in the Netherlands that has put this concept into practice, and it’s really great.

door_in_the_face,

You can also own an apartment and live in it. The problem in the US, as far as I know, is that many cities make it very hard to actually build apartments or rowhouses or really anything other than a single family house on a big lawn.

door_in_the_face,

Imagine someone who has his mouth wide open, tongue sticking up toward the roof of jis mouth, with his head tilted back as I screaming to the sky. You see the tongue and mouth from below due to perspective, as well as head tilt.

door_in_the_face,

Ugh this thread makes me upset. I have a contract for 18 hrs per week and you bet your ass I’m really working 99% of the time that I’m clocked in. And then people ask me why I don’t work more hours, but looking at these comments it seems I’m actually right on par with other people who get paid for 30-40 hours per week, when it comes to productive time spent.

door_in_the_face,

Those signs are the same at all German train stations, and lots of cities have a nordstadt. Could be anywhere really.

door_in_the_face,

People don’t just block others for “shaking up their world view”, lots of blocks happen because of harassment, rude behavior, etc. Taking away one of the few tools to stop harassment is insane.

door_in_the_face,

Maybe he’s trying to demonstrate that he needs a bigger cat tree.

door_in_the_face,

No, I don’t think it’s a good idea to get a donkey if you plan on leaving it alone for days on end. For one, you should check up on animals daily just to make sure they don’t have injuries, tipped over their waterbucket, broke the fence etc. Also, donkeys get lonely without other animals around.

Demon Hunter: Kimetsu no Pikmin

Some of the pikmin on PNF-404 have been turned into cannibalistic demon versions of themselves. Captain olimar needs to find a cure for their curse, and defend his pikmin from attacks. I’d play it.

door_in_the_face,

Not to diagnose you, but have you considered that this may actually be due to bipolar disorder? Burnout and depression share a lot of symptoms, after all.

door_in_the_face,

Yeah in that case I would go back to the doctor who first diagnosed you. Sometimes the brain just needs a bit of help to regulate itself properly, just like any other organ.

door_in_the_face,

Some diet tracking apps let you do just that, you can create recipes and then add a serving from that recipe. I know I did that with Cronometer for a while. It’s free too, and has a good amount of information.

door_in_the_face,

DM means Dungeon Master. I think it’s usually used to refer to the person who runs aDungeons and Dragons campaign, while some other systems call them game master.

door_in_the_face,

Any way to dissolve the paint in the keyhole chemically?

door_in_the_face,

Why aren’t you wearing glasses?

door_in_the_face,

I would suggest sketching your maps on paper and then copying the design at home. The time intensive part of making a map is figuring out how to populate it, at least for me. I.e. what civilization lives in which city, their culture, history, allies and enemies. Or in the case of dungeon maps, what monster lives in which room and how do they behave, loot, traps, story hooks etc.

door_in_the_face,

No thanks I quite like mine inside my head, not in your stomach.

door_in_the_face,

Plants aren’t sentient though, that’s a pretty good reason to put them lower on the hierarchy of living beings that are morally ok to eat. And it’s quite likely that fewer plants die for a vegan diet than for a standard diet, as animals need a lot of feed to produce meat, eggs and dairy. Some percentage of the plant protein, fats, and carbs will always be lost along the way when we feed them to animals, so eating those plants directly is more efficient.

door_in_the_face,

What would be a good indicator then if not sentience?

door_in_the_face,

Nah, you don’t necessarily need lab grown or fake meat to have a healthy delicious varied vegan diet. Legumes like chickpeas, different kinds of beans and lentils as well as soy products can provide enough protein and variety if you put some effort into your cooking. You do need B12 supplements on a vegan diet though, as well as some specific nuts and seeds to cover omega 3. So those can be a problem if there’s not a lot of variety in the stores near you and you can’t order it online for whatever reason.

door_in_the_face,

You should look up the definition of murder. Murder requires intent, otherwise it’s manslaughter.

door_in_the_face,

Maybe not necessarily the dairy cow herself, but she needs to be pregnant about once per year so she doesn’t stop producing milk. That means that the calves inevitably need to be slaughtered (as well as older dairy cows) or else the herd would keep growing year after year.
