Should go after anywhere that has perpetual agreements including the ones that try to get around it by the last living clause or 100 years etc. I don’t know a good solution but I’m sure they can put limits and carve outs where needed.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

I loved Tidal until I hit some arbitrary cap on the number of songs you can dislike. Cancelled after their support had no answer for why theres a limit.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

A lot of people went back, just as Reddit expected.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Hmm kinda like what they did before. It worked. I knew I was going to get one and the community built a spreadsheet tracking estimates dates.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Really same reason all these companies making dramatic changes. Rips the bandaid off and lets them roll back to what they actually wanted while looking like they listen. Some are executed better than others. See Deltas medallion change for another example.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

That overlay has such bad contrast it’s hard to see what’s going on. Big accessibility issue.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

It’s funny how you can build out a grid and find out it’s all off slightly. They’re doing some rounding somewhere and it gets clearer the further out from the start of a 90 degree you get

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

More surprised you managed to post a negative review. Every time I do it fails amazons community guidelines check or get removed a few days after.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

This is actually ewaste. The normal pencils have been on sale fairly often for 99 bucks and the price difference isn’t really enough so all they’re doing is making trash in an attempt to lure people into paying the small amount more for the better version.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

This IS the same guy that kept raising the price of FSD despite not delivering on promises.

PSA: If you get a UOAP skip the FlexPay option

I’ve had one of my worst experiences in the last week ever in dealing with Universal Orlando. When I bought my pass last year I opted to do the FlexPay program - it wasn’t even a month before I realized that was a mistake but the gravity of the situation didn’t become as evident as it did in the cancellation process…...

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Wow, that’s not something I want to hear after just signing up for it (again). Something must have changed, I had flex pay years ago and an email to them for it cancelled no problem. Sounds like one of those ask them to change your payment method to a privacy.com or similar card and just block payments going forward until they figure it out and cancel.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

No body was asking for it either. Now they have a reason to raise prices. And they will.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

I’d argue you’re not really losing it if you never use it all in the first place. People put too much thought into range when all they’re doing is short trips most of the time.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Haven’t they been running in LA for many months now?

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Must have been test drives then, seen them driving around a bunch for a while now. LA is gonna be a real test of its capabilities for sure!

What quality PLA filament brand have you standardized on?

Typically I would just buy whatever brand had the cheapest white color PLA (I like to paint my print) and quality wasn’t always top of mind. Now I have several prints that I want to do in all kids of different colors and quality matters. Given the new color and quality requirements, it no longer makes sense to get the...

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

I would say the same but I have five rolls of theirs that no matter how long they dry they basically crumble apart, did it right from the bag too. So I dunno what’s up with their QC but that’s pretty bad.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Honestly don’t know either. Never had this happen before but surprisingly if I’m careful it prints fine if I don’t use the ams. 🤷

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

He’s too chicken. Just like how he won’t ride in his own rockets (which honestly probably safer than using FSD)

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

It’s weird calling for one mega corp to be split up while supporting another mega corp that owns more than the first. Everyone needs a reality check if they think any mega corp doesn’t want the same thing.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

I’m okay with a weak year. Maybe they’ll refine the software more instead of playing catch up to new hardware.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Shoulda bought when it was a broken mess. Bestbuy was clearing out the console editions.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Those kind of dryers don’t really let the moisture escape, it needs somewhere to go. Either with desiccant + fan or ideally food dehydrator.

Back On Thingiverse

I found out Thangs locks print files and comments behind an account when I tried downloading my own files from a different device. I’ve decided to leave the platform and going back to my trusty old Thingiverse. I tried to find something new and better but maybe Thingiverse is just the place to be for now. New links below....

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Are you sure it’s not a you doing something shady problem? Suspended on printables, locked on thangs… I dunno it sounds kinda sus when none of us have issues. Perhaps it’s spamming your cube…

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Lol thangs search better? Please. The entire thangs UX is a mess and their search is a joke. It returns models from game asset websites and the like that are not really printable. They’ve been spending a lot getting creators to gush over it too, makes me highly suspect whenever I see someone say how much better it is.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

I do like the idea of thangs, it just needs more time to mature and they need to limit their search - mainly not including game asset and mod sites.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

It’s been a thing for a while but they might be adding more sites to their index.

Twister Track Walk (Knoebels) (postimg.cc)

Yesterday I got to complete a childhood dream and actually do an entire track walk of a coaster. In Feb there was an ACE event and they had a charity auction which Knoebels put up a maintenance tour and fortunately I had just completely a major project at work and had the funds to compete, lol. Yesterday morning I woke up at...

that’s unbelievably cool. Totally jealous rn

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Unless it’s showing something very specific that handle be handled in inline screenshots I’m not watching it. It’s bad enough there’s project managers putting specs into loom and such. Docs should be easily searchable and fast to reference. Ain’t nobody got time to watch a video.

dawnerd,

You can use your heated bed, just set a temp and cover the roll with a box.

It’s a little different as Spotify/apple/etc don’t produce music and are not trying to out license each other. Really good thing you don’t have to sub to half a dozen music services.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

I wish more games were smarter about difficulty. If a player keeps losing have an option to reduce it a bit. Not everyone likes to/has time to retry grind until we get a good rng.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

It still adds up fast especially if you run an instance that stores to s3 with a cdn. My mastodon server racked up 1k in cdn usage one month before I switched to local storage no cdn.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Not even news, it happened a few days ago now

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Steam deck, rog Ally would be good options.

If you want a laptop that’s surprisingly not bad for the price look at the asus g14s. They go on sale every so often. Slap an extra stick of ram in there and you’re golden. Make sure to get gHelper from GitHub to get rid of all the asus bloat ware.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

I like .6 for speed but there’s a lot of content out there saying how great .6 is and how you can’t really tell it apart. You absolutely can and arachne isn’t perfect either. If it’s a part that needs more strength I’ll go .6 but for anything else I’ll swap in my .4.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Most people work in at-will states so really they don’t even need to say they’re firing you for any particular reason.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

I’m fine with it, wasn’t fallout 3 on GOG at some point? You can download those fairly safely. I don’t see it as piracy if you already own the game or a license to the game.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Weird you shouldn’t have had to with Alex, 7 grid wide fits perfectly. You do need a spacer in the back but it’s already difficult to utilize the very back anyways

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

I’m still playing. It’s fun for a few minutes a day.

How Spec Ops the Line Condemns the Player: A Timestamped Excerpt from Games as Literature's Analysis (youtu.be)

The whole video is worth watching, but this section in particular makes a better case than I’ve seen in other analyses: that the game condemns player involvement not by simply chastising the player for choosing to continue playing itself (as I’ve seen other analyses argue), but rather for carelessly and uncritically engaging...

One of my all time favorite games. There’s so many little details you can miss too.

What are some game genres / styles you like that aren't being made anymore, or are being mde but not very often?

For me it’s first person puzzle games. I can think of maybe a dozen off the top of my head that came out in the last decade. I especially enjoy when they’re open world. The ability to just quit a puzzle that’s stumped you and go try something else for a little bit is incredibly refreshing.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Sim games. Not THE sims but like SimTower, SimAnt, etc. There’s been some attempts over the years but everyones missed the mark.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

109 backwards?! Woooo buddy let’s go!

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

I don’t see what’s wrong with that? Can you show us with supports disabled and infill increased?

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

Gotta define by what you actually mean when you say portable. Do you mean pack up for flying? Just driving around? Hotel use? Honestly if you travel that much you might want to just look into maker spaces or libraries.

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

I think the biggest hurdle would be packing it away, putting it back together and recalibrating - that seems like it would get old fast. Someone’s already mentioned it but the ender 2 or prusa mini seem like best bet. That could be small enough you could take the gantry off and put into a foam case

dawnerd,
@dawnerd@lemm.ee avatar

It’s a nice platform overall but once you need more advanced features it’s a bit of a chore
