Your account is only your account on one instance. You can have other accounts on other instances. However, you can access and post to all of the communities, content, and posts on all federated instances from your one account on one instance.
When I joined the fediverse I thought I’d have an easier time moving between lemmy platforms. So far I have to create a new username/password on each instance and subscribe to all the things I want to on that new account. I kinda wish I can carry my lemmy user to other platforms more easily....
So far I have to create a new username/password on each instance and subscribe to all the things I want to on that new account.
Why are you needing to do that? You only need one account on one instance and you can subscribe to all the things you want on every instance (assuming that it hasn’t been defederated for some reason).
The latest version of mlmym includes the subscribed commuunities dropdown in the top bar. Can mlmym be updated to this version, please? The lack of access to one’s subscribed communities makes it borderline unusable atm despite how much I like it.
I’ve seen this done in almost every combination imaginable, and would like to know what the ‘correct’ way to do this is. I’ve seen the building marked as ‘retail’ with a point at the pumps for ‘gas station’ and a point in the building for ‘convenience store’, I’ve seen the building itself marked as one with...
Thanks, that did help somewhat. However, it’s still a bit ambiguous with ‘add a node at the center of the fuel station…’ not being clear if that means the building or the pumps or the entire property. (I’ve seen it all three different ways on OSM), and, of course, it then goes onto say “or create a way around the fueling area.” The term ‘fueling area’ makes me think it may mean the pumps? That’s not all that clear again, and I’ve seen it different ways. I suppose both are okay then, but I was thinking there would be some accepted consistent way to do this. Likewise, for the convenience store it gives both the option of adding a node in the middle of the building and marking that as the convenience store or mark the building itself as the a convenience store.
Sounds like all those options are okay. I suppose I was just being a bit too pernickety about it and wanting there to be a perfectly consistent way to do this.
Well I mean it’s unclear to me that we’re much worse than previous points in history.
That’s interesting, because to me it’s very clear. After all, small isolated pockets of people ruining their economy and the environment they depend on is quite a bit different from all of humanity everywhere doing this.
That’s an interesting perspective! Care to share some data?
Well, of course the data on what our actions (much of which are due to and based upon capitalism) are doing to are environment and climate, and inevitably must lead to given the implicit but incorrect assumption of infinite resources of that system, is everywhere and basically impossible to ignore these days, isn’t it? And, almost as easy to find is the data on other cultures killing themselves off (in the, at the time, limited scope of their part of the planet) due to their actions, such as Easter Island.
Adding lots of missing bicycle paths, lanes, and designated routes in my area as well as all of the missing buildings. And fixing all kinds of little mistakes.
I just moved into a new house, and it has a weird step in the bottom of the closet, that is covered in carpet. I’ve seen this before, and it could just be coincidence, but is there possibly a weird architecture or design reason for this, or is it just a quirk?
It’s almost certainly hiding vents or pipes that needed to be routed there. As for the carpeting, somebody no doubt thought it would be cool, or else if for sound dampening.
You can still have your new separate gmail account for the new device, and add the gmail account that purchased OSMAnd+ on your new device at the same time. Then, simply open the play store, change accounts in the top right corner, and install the paid for app.
I think it simply makes sense to leave it up to users to block this if they don’t like it. This approach allows for folks to achieve what they want without forcing this decision onto others.
Is this just me or is anyone else having issues where suddenly when clicking on a community or post they are logged out? These seems new as of the 0.18.2 update....
Imagine I could only choose 5 sci fi books for a brand new sci fi reader – what would they be?
Dune by Frank Herbert
The Martian by Andy Weir
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams
The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert A. Heinlein
Doomsday Book by Connie Willis
That should be a nice cross section, though I completely ignored cyberpunk, near future apocalyptic (unless you include Hitchhiker’s Guide!), alternate history, and a few others!

“Long ago, Lemmy had stood at the void edge of Mount Lemmy. The Long Fall River, on that world, ends in the tallest waterfall in known space. Lemmy’s eyes had followed it down as far as they could penetrate the void mist. The featureless white of the void itself had grasped at his mind, and Lemmy, half hypnotized, had sworn to live forever. How else could he see all there was to see? Now he reaffirmed that decision.”

So I’ve been in the Malazan marathon for a while. Currently early in book nine, but expect to be done book ten within a month. It’s fantastic (pun intended)! Going to need something to cleanse the palate after such a rich series – the speculative fiction equivalent of the pickled ginger served with sushi. Any suggestions?
Yup, came here to say that as well. it’s al bots. The active users graph is much more realistic.
And I’ve been seeing some…odd looking… comments recently from users at instances known for being mostly bots. Some of these comments really look AI generated, and have a suspicious number of upvotes.
That's awful, but perhaps better than stuck for hours or days inside of a dead, dark, cold submarine at the bottom of the ocean as the oxygen slowly runs out.

I was a wee bit surprised (but not really, I guess) when just before the Reddit blackout everyone on Reddit was spamming their relevant Discord links for the relevant subreddit.
I could only think, “That’s no better!!”
We’ll see if that changes.
To add to that, Discord is an entirely different kind of interaction. Fine if that’s what you want, but not fine if you want something a bit more…static.
