I honestly feel like people who say this stuff either haven’t tried Linux since 2008 or went straight to Arch.
I use Manjaro as my daily driver and I never need to fix the system. It really does just work, and these a bunch of disyros out there that do.
The only thing you might find terrible is trying to run windows programs on Linux, to which I say: dual boot! Even with all the progress Proton, Lutris etc. have made, it’s still way easier to just boot into windows on the occasion you want to play games or whatever.
Canada will be the first nation to start printing warnings directly onto individual cigarettes in a bid to deter young people from starting smoking and encourage others to quit....
Why are people always so small minded about this? Have you not considered how immensely more polluting a car or a house is than a plastic bag? Have you not considered the people affected: a few of the richest vs millions of average people?
Think big. Think rich. Those are the changes we need.
For me it’s first person puzzle games. I can think of maybe a dozen off the top of my head that came out in the last decade. I especially enjoy when they’re open world. The ability to just quit a puzzle that’s stumped you and go try something else for a little bit is incredibly refreshing.
I’m convinced these types of arguments are from republicans trying to garner sympathy for the poor stupid people, how could they have known! See they’re really not that bad guys, they just don’t know any better!
Such bullshit and really the most pathetic kind of excuse.
So what you’re saying is that you don’t care about others people’s time or convenience. Which then raises the question, why should others care about yours?
This attitude is the breakdown of the social contract being discussed right now lol
Hi guys, first of all, I fully support Piracy. But Im writing a piece on my blog about what I might considere as “Ethical Piracy” and I would like to hear your concepts of it....
That intrigued me, but the shit design of the website turned me off. I can’t even find the first episode. There’s no list, it’s blurbs of each and every episode that you have to scroll through and it only loads like 15 at a time then you have to go to the next page.
I’m not going to spend ten minutes scrolling and clicking just to find the first episode so I can try it.
It is very VERY simple to set up a functional website these days. And this is an abomination of UX. It would take hardly any effort at all to improve it with a simple chronological list of links.
What kind of complicated UX do you think is necessary here? I literally said “a simple chronological list” is all they need to improve the experience enough to make me listen.
That should take ten minutes of coding. And it is applicable to every podcast ever.
This such an elaborate excuse for such a simple mistake that would be so easy to fix.
You raise a few valid points, but the problem with the action film thing is that it is fiction, and thus protected by free speech rights.
That’s actually the main argument against lolicon being illegal: depictions of other crimes, including heinous ones like murder and rape, are not illegal.
Ultimately it comes down to inconsistency in the law, and sensationalism makes it very difficult to discuss rationally.
A society in which it’s everyone for themselves, that refuses to care for one another, is no society at all. Then everyone acts shocked and horrified at someone who understandably snaps, like modern western culture doesn’t run entirely on schadenfreude....
If only the rich had elected to share. You would never have felt any need to make your “contribution” to society and the entire problem would have been avoided.
The lesson here is that the rich need to make sure no one suffers.
But if you just stop and look you’ll find good people in this fight with you.
This appears to be the sum total of your argument, and doesn’t really address his statement of the social contract being broken. Just because some “good” people remain doesn’t mean the majority haven’t been pushed by the system to something worse.
I’d also like to advise you just how arrogant your statements here are:
And giving up on them is not something I’m going to do … OP is (imo) misguided, but that doesn’t make them a bad person and it doesn’t mean they’re beyond hope. … Simply misguided but not even close to being beyond redemption or belief.
So, you think your outlook is so superior that it grants you the authority to not only judge them as misguided but further imply that they are so wrong as to require redemption? Oh, but by the sheer goodness of your heart you still grant them the gift of your hope.
This is called toxic positivity. You are using the notion of positivity in a negative way: it is a tool to assert your moral superiority and thereby belittle others.
Sharing? That’s communism! You must be angling for revolution! Don’t you know poor people die in revolutions??
Good grief what a ridiculous retort.
Believe it or not our current system (in western countries) is actually very close to what I suggested. Despite the fact that most of us are dirt poor compared to the ultra wealthy, we still have pretty much everything we need, and most of us don’t feel any need to commit crimes.
There is a small segment that does commit crimes out of necessity, and that segment needs to be cared for by the wealthy as part of securing the society they live in. Like we’re this close, they only have to do a tiny bit more and there would be no homelessness. They only have to do a tiny bit more and there would be no hunger. And instead they’re allowing the desperate to be desperate, and thus mar our society with crime.

If you go down deep enough the earth temperature is stable at 12 C. But I’m pretty sure that’s like thousands of feet down. Geothermal rigs drill 500+ meters (1600 feet) down. Having a hard time finding a source on the stable earth temp though.
I mentioned 6 feet because it’s well below the frost line where I am, but I guess in that part of Iran they probably don’t have to worry about that.
Mostly I was just wondering if you had found something on how deep those waterways were actually built.
