World was already the biggest by far when I first started lurking back in July, and it’s just getting more dominant. Before, there was quite some diversity in the distribution of generic communities, but nowadays the vast majority of posts that reach the top are from over there....
When I joined most instances either required approval or were straight closed, whereas LW did not, so I joined LW for a little while before jumping to another that had opened up during one of the moderation policy updates.
So availability plus as an instance grows more people tend to recommend it.
price to specs is a huge thing for me, I looked into it but ultimately went against it due to the specs underperforming the other major brands. It is a good concept though
I used to regularly snooze my alarm which i had set for 7:00, however recently i have noticed that i directly wake up by my alarm at 7:10 and don’t remember snoozing my alarm!...
most devices have the turn off right next to snooze anyway, but yea I can see where that might be counterproductive if they are sleeping through it. They do make puzzle alarms as well for that that require you to do something in order to turn it off, that might be a better solution
I allow notifications on everything but games unless they have ruined it for themselves otherwise or have a valid reason to exist such as a war game that is alerting you you are being attacked.
Yeah, basically that. I’m back at work in Windows land on a Monday morning, and pondering what sadist at Microsoft included these features. It’s not hyperbole to say that the startup repair, and the troubleshooters in settings, have never fixed an issue I’ve encountered with Windows. Not even once. Is this typical?...
Network troubleshooter has on more than one occasion fixed my networking issues when somehow it got an invalid IP configuration, it’s usually my last step that I do before system restart, that being said the only decent thing starter prepare has done for me is giving me a way to easily get into the recovery menu When It ultimately fail
Actually seeing the same thing with oil as well, I used to always change my oil for savings under this same ideology, then I started comparing the cost vs having it done at a auto place, outside of dealership level I’m paying just about the same amount AND having to do the work/effort to change it and get the oil disposed of. It just isn’t worth the hassle it seems anymore
If it counts, I know a lot of people hang out on VR chat. It’s a very common misnomer that you need a VR to run the platform, most of my friends don’t even bother being in VR they just use it in desktop mode. I expect you probably meant more text-based, but I wanted to throw that on the board as well
Seriously launched the app (by accident today) and what is this? They’re trying to play the victim from the big bad ad blockers saying all they’re doing is trying to show an ad at the beginning of video, and then I see all of this crap....
Or if they went back to their old advertisement model, remember when you used to get in line advertisements that played at the bottom of the video. I remember those they weren’t intrusive to the video content and you still saw them. It wasn’t obnoxious as hell and I would bd ok with that
Honestly, the sales rep probably couldn’t even see why I was rejected, they probably only put the customers data in and then get a rejection notice. they likely just automatically put non payment as a blacklist and call it a day, then the sales tech just does a simple form that says yes or no to the sale
my cost already went up two months ago, if it hikes again I’m bailing on premium. I think the current price is outrageous as it is. I thought I was going to cancel last time but I never did. but a raise again will put it more then I make an hour, and there’s no way i can choke that down for a free service. I’ll just go twitch only.
is it a requirement to have a realtor or is just just a massive convenience factor, if it’s a requirement I would be for a restriction to force flat rate but, if it’s optional I would say just find one that wasn’t commission based
why is chrome first if you don’t mind me asking, I am curious, I have always concidered chrome to be a less private brave and Firefox to be at the top of the list in terms of privacy, unless the list was going fron least to greatest
alt texttweet by amtrak ben: i think we should build high speed rail next to freeways only because it would make drivers feel like complete losers all the time...
They essentially would need to expand the median, which would add even more cost to the system I think it would have been worth it, but they would need barriers on both sides of the rail it wouldn’t just be road rail road, it would be road | rail | road
I have not missed anything. I hard blocked it dns level before the api restrict and haven’t looked back. The only thing I really lost is the tales from reddits,I get everything else I needed via lemmy and I’m overall happy.
They can defend their recent PlayStation Rises all they want, it doesn’t change the fact that it cemented my decision(and I’m sure I’m not alone) to cancel their subscription in favor of Microsoft based competitors. They can say it all they want but they cannot fight the fact that game pass is just far superior in content(and even that’s expensive af now) and the only thing they really had going for them was their exclusivity single player based games and those just haven’t been there on the five. I say this as being a solid Sony fan since the PS1, I’ve gotten every one of their consoles because I preferred their controller layout and menu design(of which both are now worse), I regretted buying this generation without the choice increase in PlayStation Plus, the decision to up the pricing only drilled that mindset home.
Every third product I search for has a check box coupon. Is there any downside to accepting those offers? Why not just list the item at the cheaper price?
I thought it was a little far-fetched as well, but there was a post I believe it was here a few weeks back of people that were running the windows 12 beta snooping around the code and seeing references to subscription classification and typing
This is a PC mag article that refers to it. it doesn’t go in as depth as the other post did
concidering mods are not staff but volunteers on reddit, would this be concidered insider trading even? It’s not like the mods are on payroll for reddit. If this information was shared on the reddit which is a public info source, it could also be deemed public knowledge at that point regardless if I understand it right.
edit: looking into it, it appears the info “might” have been shared an hour before launch in a moderator only call, if that’s true I’m still curious if it was insider trading but it’s definitly a bigger chance it is
I mean that’s probally overkill, that person was either OCD or was thinking he was doing them a favor. That sounds like a great way to have a pissed off neighbor and a potentially hostile neighborhood
some stores are going to that model listed first. Security gates that close when the beeper goes off and doors that are only one direction so you can’t leave/enter from the wrong side.

I’m only on windows because it’s easier for my setup and game support. The second that becomes costly or annoying is when I nuke my C drive and reinstall Mint. I used to use it as my daily before I started gaming heavily, I can easily go back.
honestly I found this was dependant on the instance you are on. I switched instances off my previous one (well technically I bounce back and forth) and I find it super dependant on the instance I’m on with what the toxicity levels are.
Not to downplay this situation because it is a bad situation regardless but looking at the multiple articles that they have released on this and the lack of video that they have provided regarding it, without seeing the video it’s hard to say who’s at fault here. Well aside from the driver who hit and ran obviously.
It sounds like both vehicles had a green light at the intersection and I expect the second lane wouldn’t have been able to see the pedestrian that was crossing in the first Lane to begin with. The article States the vehicle when it saw the pedestrian “braked aggressively” in order to try to not hit the person. I don’t think that this is as simple as a oh there was a person waiting at the crosswalk so it shouldn’t have gone, a lot of these intersections also have pedestrian lights on both sides of the crosswalk. Every article is blaming the autonomous vehicle, but I really don’t think an actual driver would have done things differently given what has been released. In fact they might have actually made things worse by immediately driving off the person’s leg/ankle instead of waiting for the lift.
I’ll be interested to see footage when it’s released cuz I’m curious this was an actual mistake on the autonomous vehicles part or if this was a it did what it could not actually being able to be avoided
For me this is a hard toss up between Pizza King too and the Submachine series, the Submachine series is an amazing escape/puzzle style series that has a really good story
and Pizza King 2 is the best management style Pizzeria Simulator game that I have found to date, many of those management style games focus more on the cooking aspect than the management aspect but this one takes the cake with being an actual management Sim instead of a cooking
they can’t aside from issuing a deletion from its local instance, won’t remove the parent post but it will remove it from the local server. IF I understand it right anyway
I understand he’s mad that he’s losing money of a thing he made but, I think he’s going about that the wrong way. I would see that as more of a challenge then a “wow I shouldn’t do this”, I expect any person doing stuff like this would look at it the same way, free cracks and exploits are rarely about the money, it’s generally about the challenge of doing something that isn’t supposed to be allowed. Adding “mines” to try and sabotage it I believe will just make someone more apt to try and crack it.
I urge everyone to accept this, then flag every email as spam and just have it move to junk, that’s what I do on sites that enable predatory things with email
