Perroboc,

Cool! A warhammer 40k CRPG!

Perroboc,

Try scaling, and then logging out and back in.

Perroboc,

HEY I’M MOOING HERE! (New York style?)

Perroboc,

Yeah but the boss doesn’t need to know that

Perroboc,

Haptics feel like enough, because proper rumble motors take a lot of space, spend more battery, and actually shake the whole device which is not desirable in a handheld device

[SOLVED] Brave Browser not launching in LXQT in Debian 12 (lemmy.ml)

Hi folks. I have installed Debian 12 bullseye with the lxqt desktop environment. I have run lxqt sessions on it using xfwm4, as well as i3wm, as the window manager. However, for some weird reason brave browser would not launch - neither in xfwm4 nor in i3-wm. So I tried to run the command in the shell to see what output it would...

Perroboc,

And how did you install brave?

Perroboc,

What .deb file? Their page says to add a repo and use apt:

<span style="color:#323232;">sudo apt install curl
</span><span style="color:#323232;">
</span><span style="color:#323232;">sudo curl -fsSLo /usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg
</span><span style="color:#323232;">
</span><span style="color:#323232;">echo "deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/brave-browser-archive-keyring.gpg] https://brave-browser-apt-release.s3.brave.com/ stable main"|sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/brave-browser-release.list
</span><span style="color:#323232;">
</span><span style="color:#323232;">sudo apt update
</span><span style="color:#323232;">
</span><span style="color:#323232;">sudo apt install brave-browser
</span>
Perroboc,

My brother in Christ, installing a .deb is downloading the .deb directly, as you would when downloading discord from discord.com, and you use dpkg to install it (apt uses dpkg to install the deb file).

You saying “the deb file” is not the same as “using the official repo”, as dependencies might not have been installed by only using the .deb file.

Make sense?

Perroboc,

Perroboc,

Don’t know if they’re on sale, but my 2c:

  • ticket to ride
  • Arkham horror the card game
  • Concordia (euro, but right there with wingspan and catan IMHO)
  • takenoko

Kinda cross-posting... What would be the way to run Alan Wake 2 on Lutris proper? With Path Tracing enabled. AMD 7800XT

So… Yeah, I installed Lutris on my KDE Neon (based off of Ubuntu 22.04, which might have an outdated Mesa…not sure how to get a most recent one?). I’m getting the now well-known AMD issue with textures, where the FBI jackets are non visible, and the facial textures look a bit…flat/untextured. Performance is rather decent...

Perroboc,

Try setting VKD3D_CONFIG=dxr as a launch argument for the game

Perroboc,

“ There is evidence that some carriers have a propensity to eat other carriers and then carry the eaten payloads.”

This is gold

Perroboc,

More like “we’ll choose whatever is not the actual government because look at us now. Is it a Trump look a like? We’ll take it!”

Perroboc,

Windows version is native now, I think

Perroboc,

I’ve always thought it’s like: 0- is freezing, 10 is cold, 20 is ok, 30 is hot, 40+ is hell

Perroboc,

How do you handle which GPU is used in which game? I would guess you have an AMD iGPU, and a Nvidia GPU for games, right? Maybe something along those lines got updated?

Perroboc,

What are you using to switch the GPU? Have you tried alternatives? EnvyControl for example.

Also, have you checked if you’re using ONLY Radeon-Vulkan for the AMDGPU, and not AMDVLK also?

Perroboc,

Game is The Firemen (SNES). Great game!

Perroboc,

Let me save you a click:

Perroboc,

I think mario rpg came around the same time as Yoshi’s island… damn, I’m old

Perroboc,

Thank! TIL.

I didn’t keep track of game releases back then. Releasing in the same year was good enough ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Perroboc,

I’m really looking forward to using something like rust coreutils, but only once the testing passes the gnu test suite (github.com/uutils/coreutils-tracking)

Perroboc,

Oh, for sure. Windows marketshare never drops only because of its friendly community.

Perroboc,

The article seems to have missed a lot of games from their DMA era. The Wikipedia article is more complete than the IGN one.

Perroboc,

Ah yes, back to reading the shampoo label.

“Huh, these things have instructions…”

Perroboc,

WHAT DID YOU DO?!

Perroboc,

Any alternatives you might recommend?

Perroboc,

Does it use systemd-boot by default?

Perroboc,

Awesome, thanks!

Perroboc,

User is not in the sudoers file.

this incident will be reported

Perroboc,

I LOVE systemd, flatpaks, appimages, wayland, and pipewire. The desktop environment feel way more managed!

Sure, wayland is not complete yet (HDR), flatpak is missing some things (some portals), but the whole ecosystem is way more mature than before.

This is from someone who used init.d scripts, apt-get and dpkg, x.org, and alsa/pulseaudio/gstreamer.

Perroboc,

I just remember the problems it gave me back in the day. So much so it earned a spot there.

Well that explains a lot

Perroboc,

Just accept that Ubuntu uses Snap for its packages. Same as other distros use other packages solutions.

Perroboc,

That’s because you’re not engraving the suspects name in wooden balls based on the dreams of 3 people sleeping in some weird hot tubs.

Perroboc,

I read that it doesn’t work now, and you’re using lutris.

Have you tried Heroic (appimage) and Proton-GE?

Also, the expansion (phantom liberty) has DRM, so you won’t be able to run it from GOG just yet (there are workarounds like installing gog galaxy on wine, or using comet). First try to get ray tracing running without the expansion

Perroboc,

Wow, this is great! Thanks!

Perroboc,

Played both Human Revolution and Mankind divided. Incredible games, shame that the second one was cut before the story finished 🙁

Perroboc,

Really good, played it when it came out. That phosphorus scene with the bodies of the victims stuck with me forever

Perroboc,

Including the one with the sisters?

Perroboc,

Both games are awesome! I’ll add them
