MrQuallzin,

Are you mad they cross posted a meme to different communities in different instances?

MrQuallzin,

They grow on Ramen Trees. It’s an offshoot of Spaghetti Trees

MrQuallzin,

An ominous shadow appears on the board

MrQuallzin,

The board does a sick backflip

MrQuallzin,

Goblin Paladin. Second try was a centaur sorcerer which is way cooler

MrQuallzin,

It’s the insurance companies (Specifically the Pharmacy Benefit Managers) who generally mandate the brand name over the generics. Prescribers might write the brand name on the prescription, but most (if not all) states have laws that allow automatic substitution to the generic.

Pharmacists (Who generally do not do any prescribing*) and Prescribers don’t get any benefits from prescribing brand names. If they do, they’re likely breaking anti-kickback laws.

(*There are clinics and states that allow pharmacists to prescribe medications. In Oregon for example, retail pharmacists can prescribe birth control. Or a clinic may have pharmacists reviewing and adjusting a patient’s warfarin therapy)

MrQuallzin,

My sandwich!

I wondered where that went

Religious and superstitious beliefs should not be respected.

We’re in the 21st century, and the vast majority of us still believe in an utterly and obviously fictional creator deity. Plenty of people, even in developed countries with decent educational systems, still believe in ghosts or magic (e.g. voodoo). And I–an atheist and a skeptic–am told I need to respect these patently...

MrQuallzin,

From Wikipedia:

Scientific theories are broader in scope, and give overarching explanations of how nature works and why it exhibits certain characteristics. Theories are supported by evidence from many different sources, and may contain one or several laws.

Evolution as a Theory explains why and how species have tranformed over millenia. This Theory is absolutely supported by various sources and works on our current understanding of the laws of physics.

What’s great about a theory is that it has the potential to be disproven if a new source of evidence is provided. We may never obtain evidence saying it doesn’t exist, and we likely never will with how we currently understand the world and its properties. But the fact is that it is a theory.

For all we know we are in a simulation and we’re slowly learning how our universe is coded. Or maybe we do have a sentient God or God-like figure who has meticulously guided our evolution though the ages. Maybe one day several hundred years in the future we’ll be able to propose a new Theory using evidence found by using equations that we simply can’t imagine in our current state.

In short, person you responded to is generally right. If you’re going to argue against it, please provide something to work with.

MrQuallzin,

Absolutely going to get downvoted since Lemmy and Reddit both hate the LDS church, but here’s one of our core beliefs from our Articles of Faith:

We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

Every religion has bad actors. Those who will turn a blind eye to core tenets. Those who hate their fellow people in the name of their god.

My religion fully respects other faiths and beliefs, even when they don’t align with our own. I’d say that for many, if not most, religions are welcoming and at a minimum help people in need, comforting those who need it. Those are to be respected.

We absolutely have a problem with religious zealots and they deserve whatever form of karma and consequences that happen to them. They will reap what they sow. But that doesn’t mean disrespecting or putting down those who really do believe and live the teachings of their religion. Actual teachings from their holy books, not the “Religion of this particular verse” that gets used to belittle others.

MrQuallzin,

I am not ashamed of my beliefs, and I don’t shy away from the fact that the church has people who don’t abide by our teachings. Many choose to put our beliefs first and vote for policies that harm society, and I hope that they can see reason and stop the harm being done. All members should follow Christ’s commandment to love one another, and yet they do not. They are fallible, as are all people regardless of religion, spirituality, or lack thereof.

Your beliefs should not be respected because they are objectively wrong Which of my beliefs are you referring to? There are many parts of our doctrine. Unfortunately, the church has erred in the past, they do in the present, and will in the future, on social issues far and wide. They may put policies in place that do not match the current order of things, or that offend. Church policies are not perfect as they are made by imperfect humans.

But our doctrine doesn’t change, our beliefs stay the same. Our core values depend on loving each other and caring for each other. From our current church president:

Any abuse or prejudice toward another because of nationality, race, sexual orientation, gender, educational degrees, culture, or other significant identifiers is offensive to our Maker! Such mistreatment causes us to live beneath our stature as His covenant sons and daughters!

MrQuallzin,

You may need to retrain the voice recognition

MrQuallzin, (edited )

Oh dang, yeah it’s probably the language. Wouldn’t surprise me that other languages aren’t being prioritized by Google, which is a shame. German’s an awesome language.

Edit cause I’m gonna look stupid for saying German without actually checking. I’m high, blame the grass. Whatever language it is looks awesome

MrQuallzin,

Dang, that was gonna be my second guess

MrQuallzin,

Likely dyeing products that are strawberry flavored. They’re not putting dye onto strawberries.

MrQuallzin,

Off topic, but I’ve been seeing a lot of people use ETA as of late in places it doesn’t make sense. I’ve always known it as an acronym for “Estimated Time of Arrival”.

Does it have some new meaning that I’ve missed out on?

MrQuallzin,

That’s a bizzare acronym to me. I just say “Edit:”. Sign of the times, I’ve outgrown the younger generation’s new way of talking to each other.

MrQuallzin,

Any kind of delivery bag my cat will have to sniff. Doesn’t care about the food, it’s the bag she wants to get to know.

MrQuallzin,

No visible hole in the model. Maybe there’s something funky going on with the model

MrQuallzin,

Not my model (Added source to my post). That was a good idea, though. What I ended up doing (and can’t believe I didn’t think of it sooner. Been a long day…) is adding a 0.2mm disk right at the problem height and it’s looking good!

MrQuallzin,

That’s what I ended up doing, thanks! Put in a 0.2mm disk right at the problem area, now I’ve got a nice clean bridge.

MrQuallzin,

Printed at 200% (So 200mm tall in total). 195mm was just that layer’s height. Who knows what little setting was making it be like that.

MrQuallzin,

Heck, I just got back from a 10 day trip on the east coast. We did so much in so little time, but took plenty of photos. Now when I’m telling family about our vacation, I can bring them along through the pictures and they help me tell the story of what was happening in the moment.

What quality PLA filament brand have you standardized on?

Typically I would just buy whatever brand had the cheapest white color PLA (I like to paint my print) and quality wasn’t always top of mind. Now I have several prints that I want to do in all kids of different colors and quality matters. Given the new color and quality requirements, it no longer makes sense to get the...

MrQuallzin,

For various colors, I honestly like IID Max PLA+. I’ve never had trouble printing with them. With their bulk ordering you’re looking at about $12/kg

MrQuallzin,

One of our cat’s name is Hazel. It’s short for Hazelnut Megalodon

MrQuallzin,

One of our systems at work don’t let you use the past thirteen passwords! Plus monthly password changes. Guess who’s got a generic password that has an ever increasing number at the end of it…

MrQuallzin,

Blame CVS itself and not the stores. They don’t have any control on the signups. Corporate doesn’t care if the stores can’t fulfill the appointments

MrQuallzin,

We love our SleepNumber as well! Been worth the money for sure. Nowadays they’re basically all the same models, but you pay for the upgrades (more foam, heating and cooling, being able to raise/lower head and feet)

MrQuallzin,

Maybe not permanently. But for straight up tinkering to see if/how possible it is, it’d be a fun experience.

A tip for migrating from Google Photos to Synology

After exporting my photos for migration to Synology, Google gave me 95 2GB zip files to download. I tried downloading directly into my mapped network drive, but the speed was super slow. My tip for you is if you are familiar with docker, you can spin up a Firefox container and map your desired network drive to the container. If...

MrQuallzin,

There’s an option to change the download size. 2GB is the smallest, 50GB I believe is the biggest. Downloaded my Google Photos to import into Immich yesterday, I opted for 10GB files and had 17 zip files to download.

MrQuallzin,

I could have, sure. Wanted to keep working on my current projects so went the quick way and just swapped it out. It will be salvaged for some future project.

MrQuallzin,

That’s my guess. Either hours and hours of vibrations, or just a faulty solder joint

MrQuallzin,

I’m trying to set up a server for the first time and am jumping into Debian and Docker almost blind.

GhostCowboy76, to trees
@GhostCowboy76@mastodon.social avatar

@trees Do y’all grind fresh every time you smoke, or pre grind a bunch and store it in something? Right now I grind every time I smoke.

MrQuallzin,

I use a Fury Edge which has loadable capsules. I’ll generally grind enough to fill 8 caps which will usually last about a week

MrQuallzin,

Oh dang, I love these! Got a link to the files? They’d make a great birthday gift

What are some YouTube channels which follow pre-monetisation ethos?

I’m looking for some small content creators who’s content has not been influenced by the potential of making money. In the early days of YouTube there was mostly trash, but then a few small channels started using formats, using specific styles and actually standing out above a pile shit....

MrQuallzin,

Even though he has over 35 million subscribers, I’d say Markiplier is pretty darn genuine with his content. He has brand deals every once in a while, but most of his stuff is just him goofing around playing games with his friends.

MrQuallzin,

Distractible is my go-to for a good laugh. Listen to the episode “Bob’s Fridge” to make your day better

People bitching about Lemmy.world blocking piracy instances sound like spoiled teenagers with no consideration of consequences

Humans who run instances are real people who have jobs and mortgages and kids. I also like having piracy communities around to balance the greedy ass corporations trying to control media and copyright…I’m glad to know they are there if I need them or feel like screwing around with it. I just wonder if the people ranting all...

MrQuallzin,

Absolutely agree with this.

MrQuallzin,

That’s what I say as well up here in the Pacific Northwest

MrQuallzin,

This is surprisingly useful to me. I frequently need to know the dates of upcoming Sundays when making agendas and having this printed next to my desk would save me from going back and forth with a traditional calendar.

MrQuallzin,

No legal issues or threats yet. Nothing wrong with proactively protecting themselves from potential legal issues.

MrQuallzin,

I prefer the ones who moan in pleasure as you bite into them
