This post was a joke but I once had a woman scream at me for an hour that her account number had 666 in the middle of it. She was extremely upset that nobody warned her about this. She wanted a new account AND a refund for the entire time that the “sinful” account was active.
I should mention that her account was 15 years old at the time. The number never changed during that time it was always the same. She screamed so long and hard that they gave her a credit that essentially covered an entire year of service. I hate it here 😀
Ah, I see. You do realize that reacting to “processed” things isn’t really actually a thing though right? Those are all pretty different. Either you’ve got an allergy to something they have in common or you’re letting all the fear mongering get to your head. Oooorrrrr I suppose you may get a bit of a totally normal upset stomach if you never eat anything but fresh food and then have some cookies. Which is again totally normal because it’s now not something that you regularly have in your diet.
Either way, the processed food fear mongering is frankly getting kind of old. You’re not reacting to processed foods because they’re all “processed”. That’s not really how it works with such a variety. The way people with less resources are shamed or made to be afraid of perfectly accessible and shelf stable food isn’t really acceptable anymore. I really wish you guys would go back to being “intolerant to gluten” again or something else for attention. That actually did wonders for the people that are actually intolerant lol. I hear blaming everything on ADHD is very popular right now!
Last time, I used: “Anybody need anything while I’m out?” and that went over well. May not make it through this surgery on Friday, so I turn to Lemmy for top-notch suggestions for my potential last words!
I mean… There’s videos of it suddenly doing an update in the middle of people’s gaming/work sessions lol. I used to stream way back when windows updates were at their troll peak and had one kick off in the middle of a stream. It just happened randomly to some of us regardless of what was scheduled. I don’t imagine it happened more than once for too many people. Generally speaking it’s pretty good about sneaking updates in even though I detest how aggressive it is about them
Sarah Katz, 21, had a heart condition and was not aware of the drink’s caffeine content, which exceeded that of cans of Red Bull and Monster energy drinks combined, according to a legal filing
The worst part of that is knowing they probably determined it’s cheaper to settle injuries than keep it at the temps they were supposed to. I know corporations are soulless money making machines but that always feels extra dark to think about
Well, that and I never really liked being held hostage on the phone by family I’m not even super close with. They stay safely tucked away and out of my business on Facebook now lol
It’s how I’ve always pronounced it though. For decades. I don’t really care if it riles people up because it feels weird af saying it the other way. Also, the creators say it’s jif so it doesn’t really matter what anyone thinks that’s just what it is lol
I said the literal creator calls them that. That’s a pretty far cry from just some guy. None of us have to like it because that’s just how it be sometimes
The Americans that are in power here. Sure. Why do you guys insist on pretending that we approve of it? Unless you’ve personally gone out and solved at least one injustice in your country then you really can’t talk. Shit is hard and a lot of us are trying.
I mean… Isn’t that literally what they’re doing when they generalize all of us as being ok with this bullshit? The person I replied to. Yeah, it is. So why come at me if that really bothers you? Kinda hypocritical
That’s true except a lot of managers have zero power over how many people they’re allowed to hire. So, again, setting norms isn’t something that we can just do. As individuals, we’re hobbled by the wealthy/corporations/government (which are all the same thing at this point of we’re being real) at just about every turn. If they don’t like something they just pay lobbyists and it goes away. To the detriment of the average US citizen yet we still manage to get dunked on constantly as if we’re not getting dragged through the wringer. As if we’re just ok with everything.
Except for the part where they’re kept in small cages or “free range” in dirty cramped pens. Luckily it’s easier to get eggs from chickens raised ethically than meats. You just gotta fork over a few extra bucks or get the hookup at a farmer’s market
I never said they were? I’m not even a vegetarian stop being so sensitive. I don’t care for making anything suffer when I can still have eggs without the suffering. It’s that simple. If you’ve based too much of your personality on macho meathead bullshit then do you boo. I’m sure that’s a great replacement for an actual personality.
Often is a stretch. Plenty of the cheap mass produced stuff still doesn’t heat up at all. It’s almost exclusively older stuff that I notice heating up these days
After serving more than a month of in-school suspension over his dreadlocks, a Black student in Texas was told he will be removed from his high school and sent to a disciplinary alternative education program on Thursday....
Well have fun judging an entire country based on a shit tier school in one of our most shit tier red states. What utopia free of all racism are you from?
A Staten Island woman buying pot from a local deli got into a misunderstanding with the cashier — who ended up macing her, dragging her outside by her hair, kicking her in the head and mistakenly calling her trans.
That’s just a whole lot of confirmation bias speaking. Most people are gonna hesitate when they encounter totally new things that’s not unique to people from any type of place.
Youtube let the other shoe drop in their end-stage enshittification this week. Last month, they required you to turn on Youtube History to view the feed of youtube videos recommendations. That seems reasonable, so I did it. But I delete my history every 1 week instead of every 3 months. So they don’t get much from my choices....
Yeah that’s great and all until you realize that paying for services just allows them take your money and still also do whatever they want with your data lol. If I could give them money for a guarantee that they wouldn’t collect or sell my data on top of that then…maybe. Probably not since I’d never trust Google to keep their word on that they’re so slimy now.
I saw one of these guys at the lake as a kid and it scared the hell out of me! It was really unsettling encountering such a large bird that didn’t show any signs of fear. I tried to run at it because I was being a brat and it barely reacted. It just slowly turned its head to stare at me. Never ran back to camp so fast in my life lmao
You gotta grandma that shit up and get the little grippers that go on the arms of the glasses behind your ears. I’m telling you it’s game changing. They’re basically goggles because they no longer yeet themselves off your face. If only there was a solution to them fogging up with masks. I’ve tried so many things that go in or over masks and they never work. Absolute rage point for me I can’t stand it. I switch to contacts for masks now so I can retain my sanity.
Ah yeah I hear that. Just FYI a lot of people with “oily” skin actually have very dry skin that’s producing extra oil to compensate. Happened to me I was told my skin was oily my whole life until a few years ago. Against everything I believed I tried some moisturizer at the suggestion of someone on reddit and it was like getting new skin over the course of a couple weeks. HUGE difference. Same thing for my scalp. Shampoo etc for oily hair wasn’t working because my scalp wasn’t oily. It was making it more dry and making the oil problem worse lmao. Just throwing that out there because it was a real game changer for me. Nowadays it’s super rare for me to get that terrible burning in my eyeballs from my stupid face oil.
I do recommend anyone reading this to get face moisturizer specifically. Especially if you don’t like the feel of lotion because it’s usually a lot less greasy and rubs in better. Get some cheap stuff and give it a shot you never know.
Edit to also mention that I stopped suffering from pretty bad face face acne, which I’d suffered from for decades, with this change too.
Oh… Oh my god. Klingons are just Karens with extra steps… Super Karens if you will. Tell me I’m wrong. Watch anything where they interact with a form of customer service and tell me I’m wrong lmao
Supposedly starlings are common in my state nowadays but I’ve still never seen one irl yet. Such cool little birds I’m jealous of anyone that has them around regularly
Sorry, just seven pages of ads about vacuums because I bought one six months ago and links that all go to the same regurgitated article that only vaguely mentions it 🙃
My strategy these days is to just give myself a break. If it takes two hours for the dishes to be done then it takes two hours. It’s whatever I got it done. I now only use aggressive reminders for important and less frequent things to prevent me from becoming numb to or overwhelmed by alarms. I also do this super dorky thing where I have cleaning roll tables that I use every day. One is for like surfaces, floors, walls etc and one is for rooms etc. There are a few tables but they all cover more niche chores that are easily overlooked and then have little extra things like “find a permanent place for something”. It’s made a shockingly big difference because it’s kinda fun to roll and I end up doing unpleasant things I would normally try to put off if they were on a list lmao. If I roll a nat 20 I get a free lazy day to use whenever I need a break. If I roll a nat 1 I have to roll for a second chore 😅
And yeah, in case it’s not already overwhelmingly obvious, I got a heavy dose of the ADHD you were correct.
I’ve been watching the Next Generation for a while but on my dad’s recommendation I started SNW and I love it. I’m getting through it really quickly and thought about jumping straight to TOS after....
I watched them all as a kid with my mom and we watched all the movies in theaters. Other than the movies I’ve never had the urge to go back and watch except for the very occasional nostalgia for a specific scene in an episode. I’ll always have love in my heart for TOS but it is very much a product of its time and I can’t blame anyone for struggling to get into it now. Best recommendation is to watch it with an old school trek fan because their reactions and excitement can amp up the experience a lot. Gotta be a fan that doesn’t take it too seriously because you also need the freedom to laugh at how silly some of it is when it’s not trying to be
We’ve got both northern and desert cardinals year round in these parts! They’re pretty flashy looking but the real stars ended up being the thrashers. They’re absurdly goofy and clever I adore them. I do wish they’d stop mimicking car alarms in the early morning sometimes. Nothing I’ve read says they mimic anything other than bird calls but I guess they didn’t read that part 🙃
