MeatsOfRage,

Because he’s one of the few devs with true name recognition. All video game awards shows have always been chasing the Oscars but the film industry is full of massive celebrities. Not just stars but directors and even some writers and producers.

So Kojima has that. Plus his work always shows well. It’s usually something unique and cinematic.

MeatsOfRage,

109000 copies at $40 minus the 30% steam cut. That’s about 3 million dollars they’re walking away with.

MeatsOfRage,

Summer of Games has basically supplanted this now so the spirit of this sort of thing hasn’t really gone anywhere.

MeatsOfRage,

It’s like hayao miyazaki announcing his retirements, like alright see you next movie then.

MeatsOfRage,

We’ve made it Lemmy! The product shills ads-disguised-memes have made it here

MeatsOfRage,

Not enough time in the day, telling everyone you’re vegan is a full time job.

MeatsOfRage,

They announced this game years ago as an online live service game. In my eyes they already fucked it up.

how similar are other North American countries to USA??

I mean the other 2 countries, Canada and Mexico, how similar are both of them to United States?? Both countries have a similar economy and democracy etc, and I think those two countries share things like supermarkets, stores, etc. I suppose the cultural differences are not a lot, that is very nice.

MeatsOfRage,

Depends on where you are. Canada is like Portland in Vancouver. Really Canada is pretty similar to whatever region is across the border. The West coast is very Oregon, California like. The prairies are very mid west Montana. Winnipeg and Ontario are Minnesota and Michigan except the Toronto area which is a cross of New York City and Chicago. The Maritimes are Maine and New Hampshire. Quebec is a little harder to pin down.

MeatsOfRage,

Was this gif ripped from a VCR?

MeatsOfRage,

If he is from the states, FBI report is probably the way to go. I don’t know much about making that report but it’s probably a good place to start. If you have more specific location details than reaching out to that areas local authorities would be the next best bet.

MeatsOfRage,

The trailer is full of artifacts that are common with modern game graphics techniques. The hair on the girl at the roof top pool is the easiest place to identify this. It has that shimmery pixel effect that is common with frame reconstruction like FSR or DLSS, not sure what they’ve implemented here. Probably FSR since it’s a console first target. It’s definitely in engine footage.

MeatsOfRage,

Thanks for posting this! I was curious about this and had to scroll through so many miserable comments in this thread to find this.

MeatsOfRage,

As soon as I can’t see letters anymore I just burn it all down and start with a fresh window

MeatsOfRage,

Duck Duck Go mobile has a fun burn animation for clearing too

MeatsOfRage,

20th anniversary from the start of development for Beyond Good and Evil 2?

MeatsOfRage,

It definitely does, I’ve already made out pretty good on a couple things but you have to know the actual price well in advance and shop outside of Amazon

MeatsOfRage,

These quotes are from a time when games were stamped into hard plastic and circuitry. No Man’s Sky and Cyberpunk are two examples of games with rocky launches that are both amazing now. Saying a game is forever bad simply isn’t true anymore provided the makers stand behind the product.

MeatsOfRage,

I mean yea, they started development on GTAV 15 years ago. Any company is going to go through big changes, especially a tech one.

MeatsOfRage,

Morning Show too. When we’re looking for a new thing to watch we always check Apple first to see if there’s anything new. Netflix drops heaps of garbage on their service then cancels the good stuff. Prime has a lot of really expensive but hollow productions. Zaslav is stripping HBO for parts. Apple doesn’t put out a lot but I can usually trust the stuff they put on there.

MeatsOfRage,

Yea CDPR doesn’t really belong in this picture. They always put in a ton of time and effort on their releases to make right by the fans. The other guys, not so much…

MeatsOfRage,

Might depend on where you’re from. I’m from a small town and especially the older generations love their “Timmy’s” in a way I’ve not heard any other brand of coffee compete with.

It’ll be interesting to how they’re impacted in 20 years or so now that newer generations have grown up with more options

MeatsOfRage,

I’m comfortable installing apks and even I probably only have 3 or 4 vs the 50 or 60 play store apps on my phone.

MeatsOfRage, (edited )

Reminds me of the old iTunes shuffle thing. When it was first introduced it was actually random but too many people complained it was broken when they heard the same artist multiple times in a row so they rewrote it as a shuffle algorithm that would feel more random than actual random.

Just goes to show, we don’t actually want random, we want variety.

MeatsOfRage, (edited )

Wait, what?! There’s a call a random person feature? What a nightmare

MeatsOfRage,

I’ll give it a shot

$26.99

I’ll let someone else give it a shot

MeatsOfRage,

I grabbed it from FDroid to give it a try. I really don’t believe there could be any way to use this where the speed could even come close to a swipe based keyboard. Every character requires a full up down motion with your thumb and often an additional gesture to reach a sub letter and the subsequent space between words. With swipe style I can bang out entire words with their space in a single motion with about 85% accuracy. Thumb keys layout doesn’t map to existing keyboard layouts rather it prioritizes common letters with less common letters on gestures which failed me a couple of times because my direction was a little too up vs up right. Swipe typing has a huge leeway for errors including skipping letters while offering suggestions because it can see the entire word you attempted.

They could possibly add swipe functionality to this to improve the speed but given the center space contains 9 characters I’m not sure that would be possible to infer that much.

Maybe someone could really spend the time rewiring their brain to use this but I don’t think in it’s current state it can compete in WPM with a swipe style keyboard so it really comes down to how important the privacy features are to you.

MeatsOfRage,

Those are two very different movies

MeatsOfRage,

The Stars of the Dew of the Valley and StarDune

MeatsOfRage,

Amazing

Game recommendations: Passive / Turn Based + Portrait Orientation + No IAP (or at least minimally invasive)

I’m looking for some game recommendations. I feel like a ton of these games exist but they’re riddled with IAP. I don’t mind paying a little to buy the game. I have the play pass but so many of these games are active involvement and landscape orientation. I like to have an extra hand free and landscape requires both hands...

MeatsOfRage,

It’s landscape. Specifically I’m taking care of a baby a lot and can’t hold a phone in landscape mode with one hand.

MeatsOfRage,

Oh sweet! All the play store screenshots were landscape. I’ll check it out

MeatsOfRage,

Thanks I’ll check it out

MeatsOfRage,

I mean, those could be oil paints

I had no idea that you could download movies from the 90ies from archive.org (jeena.net)

I couldn’t find the Flintstones movie from 1994 anywhere but googling it I found it here archive.org/details/the-flintstones_202304 and you can either download it via torrent or directly. On top of it it says that the movie is CC0 which means Public Domain. But that can’t really be, it’s only 29 years old....

MeatsOfRage,

Oh shit, didn’t know you could do that

MeatsOfRage,

I loved it but it never got a proper ending so it dropped down in my favorites unfortunately

MeatsOfRage,

It works to be less than a penny per beer. If you were a heavy drinker and had 4 beers every day it’s like a dollar more each month. As far as tax hikes go I wouldn’t worry much about this one
