Mangosniper,

Will ich so leben?

Mangosniper,

Iirc correctly the monkey cats ( or however they are called ) actually just prefer a specific coffee plant that is more rarely used as the ones used for the vast amount of coffee in the world ( e.g. robusta or arabica). However, if the beans of this variation are used directly, it tastes exactly the same. There is a scientific paper about this. Long story short: people are drinking shat out coffee for no good reason. What is even worse, it is tried to hold these monkey cats in cages to produce more of this coffee. Again for no good reason. But people fall for the marketing pr gang that the coffee is handpicked by those animals, digested and shat out and they would not go for “yeah we need just to use another plant” because it wouldn’t be so exklusive anymore…

Ein Verbot wurde Parteienfinanzierung und Platform entziehen. Parteivermögen wird eingezogen, vll Immunitäten aufgehoben. Die müssen sich mit Gerichtsverfahren rumschlagen. Etc.

Mangosniper,

Also don’t forget about survivorship bias. We don’t know how many percent of their buildings are still standing. Probably only the really really good build ones. Also never forget, any idiot can build a bridge that stands. It takes an engineer to built one that barely stands. And that is often what we are doing today. Making our stuff “good enough” as otherwise it wouldn’t be economic feasible in the short or midterm. I am still curious how good it would be if we would instead aim for the long-term though…

Mangosniper,

Hey, no need to apologize for anything 🙃 yeah, that phrase is a quote ire st least kind of a meme.

Mangosniper,

Quellen? Was genau ist schlecht an denen?

Mangosniper,

Mangosniper,

You mean 2-3 trips per week, right? Maybe with kids it gets one per day or every two days? laughs in 100 percent homeoffice

Mangosniper,

Wasn’t the tire thing to stop the contour matching so that the drones can’t see/find their target?

Mangosniper,

How about a mixture of batteries (redox-flow, LiFePo, NaFePO, iron-air, Li-Ion), thermal storage (porous volcanic stone, heated water, liquid salt), mechanical storage (giant rotating masses, compressed air), pumped hydroelectrical storage, power-to-gas or power to liquid(hydrogen or ammonia) and creating interconnected power grids?

That should do. Would not create a single point of failure and prevent having everything in the hands of probably a single entity.

Mangosniper,

We proooooibably could do that if everyone agrees and we all do it together everywhere of the world. Will that happen? No. So we can not agree on that and therefore no big nuclear Masterplan will be build.

Let’s say we also try to get everyone on the full renewable boat, try really hard. Will that work so that everybody agrees? No. So as we can not agree on that no renewables will be built. Wait… Stop… That’s wrong. I still can built renewables even alone on my house. And here is the difference. For the nuclear plan we would almost all all over the world have to agree to make it work. For renewables, it will happen, because we can do it right here right now, everywhere, large scale, small scale. Doesn’t matter. It’s like with gravity and religion. For religion to “work” you need to believe. Gravity will work, if you believe it or not. That’s what gives me at least a little bit hope, renewables are so fucking good, they are unstoppable by now. Question is just if we are fast enough.

Mangosniper,

Problem is: who is in charge to write down the thing that is being voted for. E.g. “we need to protect the children” will get my yes vote. However, that is very unspecific and the specific thing could be “we are scanning every text message and sent file on every of your devices to compare that with child sexual abuse images as we need to protect the children”. I wouldn’t vote for that. So, whoever can frame the question that is beeing asked still directs what is happening.

Mangosniper,

Exactly this. There was some good coverage in the German podcast Logbuch Netzpolitik. Ashton is also involved in companies selling software to “solve” the CSAM issue with methods the scientific community says will not solve it and most likely will make everything worse, not only in the topic but also others like privacy overall.

Mangosniper,

I am on my third usb-module on my phone. Luckily it is replaceable. I would really like the concept of sticking a . in a o (as it is with lightning) than to have an . in a O and fiddling a o between both (as in USB-C). I have never lost a cable through wear and tear so far though…

Mangosniper,

Idk, I would not go with “I am a doctor so I deserve money with which I can live a live that seems so unhinged to the median income earner that I not only can allow to have a big car with which probably only one human at a time is driving, no, I also have a plane whith which probably only me is flaying at once and I have access to my own airfield”. They would still be on my menu right after the billionaires

Mangosniper,

No, it’s not gaming, it’s gambling. Gaming is if you get exactly what was promised for exactly what you payed. Gambling is if you maybe get what was promised while being disguised in gaming mechanics to be more appealing. And yes, loot boxes in games are gambling and should be banned.

Mangosniper,

Well yes. But it is the same as like quitting smoking and drinking as a heavy abuser from one to the other day. Your next few weeks will be not so cool. On this case it will be not so cool decades

Mangosniper,

Oh yes yes. Of course the time would be enough to apply policies to tackle the problems created by this. However my experience of humanity so far is that those time will not be properly used to tackle the problems 🙃 therefore it will still feel like a cold turkey (IMHO)

Mangosniper,

I can’t even believe how this feels. Every moment could be our last if the shell just hits 3m somewhere else. For fucks sake… Shit war shit. An the fucker(s) wo started it don’t get that feeling…

Mangosniper,

DNA testing that Russian investigators will do in Russia. And as we all know, they are trustworthy as fuck

Mangosniper,

Mangosniper,

Ihhhhhhh, Bildzeitung…

Mangosniper,

“climbed to the top of the food chain.” dude, you didn’t climb anywhere. If we would drop you in the middle of Siberia with 50km to the next road, you would be dead in about 5 days and eaten by something.

Mangosniper,

Some missiles have two charges. One explodes on the outside of the tank to get rid of the active armor and the second penetrates the hull then. When using a layer of wood, probably the first one detonates at the wood, second on reactive armor and hull stays intact.

Economic worries are prompting young Europeans to delay or forgo parenthood (ec.europa.eu)

Whereas previous economic shocks such as the oil crisis of 1973 caused a temporary dip in fertility, the 2007-2008 banking meltdown was different because birth rates continued to decline even after the economy started growing again, says to Daniele Vignoli, professor of demography at the University of Florence in Italy. He...

Mangosniper,

I like to disagree. There are other ways than to continue that pyramid scheme (which you do state as the “only way”). We could work on getting rid of “unnecessary stuff” and focus with the workers we have on the necessary. E.g. Traveling via plane or cruise ship or buying a new phone every year, a bigger tv every two and gigantic cars could be stopped. Let’s keep phones for 7 years, make vacation in our own region, country, by train, share cars. That could free a lot of working hours used to manufacture that stuff to put into the more needed professions like infrastructure maintenance and care work. Will that happen? I don’t think so…

Mangosniper,

How do you know the answer that gets copied from SO will not have any downsides later? Chatgpt is just a tool. I can hit myself in the face with a wrench as well, if I use it in a dumb way. IMHO the people that get bitten in the ass by chatgpt answers are the same that just copied SO code without even trying to understand what it is really doing…

Mangosniper,

Jup, Fairphone. Enough phone for anything you need to do. Repairable and fair. Best thing
