I have heard that Tim Hortons changed its supplier and their old one is now the supplier for McDonalds coffee. I have no idea if this is true, but I’ll spread it on the internet anyway.
I never used Omegle but got the impression it was basically “what if 4chan but video.” I also relate to the fears of the corporatization of the internet, but I feel that is more like “we need more places like Neocities” and not “we need to protect our cesspools from regulation.”
I know from the various summaries that it was shut down because the owner couldn’t prevent his users from using it to distribute illegal material including child porn, and so he gave up fighting them over it. Since you’re so upset by its shutdown, I’ll just go ahead and also assume that you were personally affected by this decision. You might want to listen for the 4chan Party Van.
I’ve been having dreams lately where I’m driving around in my old 1987 thunderbird that I got in 2003 when I was in high school. It wasn’t a great car and I was hoping my next vehicle could be electric, but maybe that’s a sign I need to be going backwards.
I tell my cat every time, “I’m getting up but you don’t have to,” but what he hears is “we are entering panic mode. Enemies are at the gates. Be vigilant. While I pee you secure the exits.”
I totally understand the fear. Their history definitely doesn’t indicate they’re the best studio for the job. That said, I did enjoy Dear Esther and Korsakovia for what they are. Korsakovia is just a really creepy idea that I really dug, and I played Dear Esther shortly after my sister died so it hit close to home for me.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised by studios stepping out of their comfort zones before, and I’m so desperate for Bloodlines 2 that I’m not capable of being anything but blindly optimistic.
This weekend I got the chance to shoot my first rallycross event. Despite literal inches of rain, it was some of the most fun I’ve had with a camera....
I had pretty much the same experience. I loved using my Xbox One as an entertainment centre, but the most recent dashboard update made me never want to turn it on again.
Just speaking for myself, I bought a PS5 mainly because it’s where I can play Demon’s Souls but after Microsoft bought Activision I figured I would inevitably end up buying a Series X as well. Seeing stuff like this means I’ll probably never buy an Xbox again, regardless of what exclusives they’ve managed to acquire.
I know I’m not representative of everyone, but I hope there are enough others like me to make their invasive advertising push very unprofitable for Microsoft.
One of my favourite Batmans and he definitely doesn’t get enough recognition. Maybe not as iconic as Kevin Conroy, but more people should associate him with the role. Like Alan Tudyk with The Joker. As soon as I heard his voice in Doom Patrol, I knew he was born for the role.
An important distinction is that they aren’t military. Government, yes. But SNW recently had an episode establishing that a crew member’s personal log is sealed and it took the crew member’s death and a surrounding investigation to unseal them. The Federation clearly values privacy.
I’m convinced that someone high up in Konami’s marketing team thought that delta was the third letter in the Greek alphabet (because triangle = 3) and doubled down when he was corrected. So now they’re insisting they always intended for it to mean “change”.
It looks … fine. Snake’s face is still totally motionless like in the original teaser, which I thought was hilarious. But it looks like they’re doing a 1:1 remake like Demon’s Souls, which might be good or bad depending on execution. It could either uplift a classic or reveal how badly the gameplay aged. It has been a long time since I played Snake Eater or Subsistence so I couldn’t say without nostalgia goggles how well it holds up.
A new tool lets artists add invisible changes to the pixels in their art before they upload it online so that if it’s scraped into an AI training set, it can cause the resulting model to break in chaotic and unpredictable ways....
This is cool. I think generative AI is great, but the way it’s being trained right now largely without consent from the artists or subjects is unequivocally unethical. Until the law catches up with the technology, people need ways of protecting themselves.
Yeah, I don’t think this should be left to the users to block on their own even if it is available in a future update. Defederation exists as an option specifically for instances like lemmygrad. Ever since I joined Lemmy, everything I’ve seen in the main feed from lemmygrad stands out as extremist. Most of the communities I have blocked come from lemmygrad.
The gen 1 art was so good. All of the later designs look very sleek and streamlined, which has its appeal, but I miss when everything was double chonked up like it was a Thursday afternoon.
I see pre-ordering a Pixel 8 Pro would get me a free Pixel Watch. A quick look makes me see they can be used with FitBit (which I don’t use nor need)....
I like being able to see notifications from my phone on my watch, check the weather, and set alarms, but I mostly just like using it as a watch.
There used to be days when I didn’t put it on, thinking I wouldn’t need or miss it. But the number of times I wanted to quickly check the time or my notifications by turning my wrist but couldn’t was a lot higher than I expected, so now I wear it all the time even if I’m staying at home or near my phone.
On top of what’s already been said about technological literacy and security, I’d like to add that I WANT to support the artists who make things I like but the companies selling their works tend to ruin the experience by trying to squeeze every dime out of you.
For the last decade or so, digital storefronts have provided a pretty good experience, but it’s starting to get a lot worse as the old companies go public and become beholden to shareholders, or as new companies enter the arena and split up what was once available all in one place.
At first I thought just 3 and 4 because they look like ice cream and melted Starbursts. But then I thought 1 looks like a mixture of milk and white chocolate. And then I realized 2 looks like licorice.
So the answer is you’ll find me in the Isle Delfino emergency room after I’ve sampled all of the island’s goo flavours.
