Looks like I canceled Prime right on time. Literally just did it after having it for years because it no longer provides any meaningful benefit, and it’s grossly overpriced for what it is.

When I used to get two-day shipping all the way here in bumfuck, South Dakota, then it was worth it, but it’s faster now just to order from some other site.

The only zoom feature I’m aware of thar is built into android lets me set a static screen zoom that helps with system items, but would not allow me to zoom text on a web page.

You’re right. This is the real problem with search engines like Google and one reason I use SearXNG instances and Mojeek instead. Where I live, the algorithm is more likely to net content that is biased toward right-wing conspiracy theories and problematic agencies because of that algorithm. Any search engine that does this is not a valid search engine, in my opinion.

Where we live, I’d run the A/C very few days in the summer. My husband gets so uncomfortable in the heat, though.

A/C sometimes makes me feel disproportionately cold. I’m not sure why. I can be outside working in the winter, no problem, but A/C is something else entirely.

I’d been using Firefox on desktop for years and years (excluding the Macbook I had when I was working on my masters, where I used Safari).

The main reason I switched to Firefox on Android was Chrome insisted on displaying tabs in grid view, which drove me nuts. After switching, I started to learn more about privacy and concerns about corporations like Google and Microsoft exerting too much control over the internet and how we use it. Now I use Fennec on Android, and on desktop I use Firefox proper, Librewolf, and Tor, depending on what I’m doing and what level of functionality I need.

I’m also gradually migrating from Windows to Linux on my personal machines.

I’ve certainly noticed the change. There are some posts lately that are indistinguishable from those on alt-right breeding grounds like 4chan and reddit. That’s why I wasn’t too gung-ho about persuading people to join Lemmy – there were a lot of people on reddit I was hoping wouldn’t come.

I’ve started using raddle more, which comes with its own problems, but at least I don’t have to start by convincing people not to hate marginalized groups every time I open my inbox.

But in this case, it appears Bud Light did more harm than good. Fuck them for not even standing by their partnership. They absolutely fucked Dylan Mulvaney over for a boycott by some fascists, which would have passed, because everyone knows that fascists never stick to their vacuous convictions.

Exactly. People who fat shame don’t actually want people to improve – they just want a target for their hate. I see no reason to disparage the people in the picture, nor to think they won’t properly care for their dog.

I do, and I get it. We used to have the infrastructure, but it was lost as our communities became more car-centric. Personally, I own a cheap used fuel efficient car that I only use when I have to drive long distances.

I also know a lot of people who own gas-guzzling pickups and SUVs who don’t need them, and people who choose to live in expensive suburban areas because they fancy themselves too good to live amongst us “poor people” in “bad neighborhoods” because we’re supposedly dangerous. Also, a lot of people who think they have to drive everywhere they go, even a few blocks from their home. Those people can fuck right off.

I’d rather be inconvenienced by losing my car than continuing to subsidize the type of people I see driving every day.
