I’m one of those assholes who has to negotiate dates and times even 4 months or a year out. I live by my calendar and my schedule is always packed M-F.
Organization is the opposite of burn out for me. I get burned out when my day is chaotic and lacks structure. I’ve been in my field a long time and know how to work best for my needs.
I played WoW a bit after its initial release through the first couple xpacs. Getting the MMO itch again, but I know the WoW I grew up with doesn’t really exist anymore, so now I’m pretty out of touch....
HorizonXI. It’s a classic Final Fantasy XI server.
I grew up playing XI and wanted to get back into it, but the retail server is a solo experience these days. Horizon has been incredible to relive my childhood on Horizon, and the community is amazing. It’s certainly not for everyone but I’m so glad to have it in my life.
I absolutely agree. XI is hard and a huge time sync. I don’t think most gamers would enjoy it at all, and most of my enjoyment comes from nostalgia and the sense of community.
I watched it live and was pretty underwhelmed the whole time. The coverage really didn’t capture the gravity of the violence imo. It just seemed like people lazily walking past barricates. I didn’t even realize that shit was going down until well into the day when there were reports of injuries.
I’ve been playing since launch day and haven’t had any issues. I’ve heard that there’s one setting that some people need to change but I forget the specifics. Maybe Google for BG3 Steam Deck Settings.
The number provided in the post is inaccurate to a real-world scale of US shootings. One person shot every seven years is instead accurate to real world data if the US population were scaled to 400 people.
316 shootings per day, every day for 7 years, is 807,380 people shot. 807,380 into 331,000,000 (the US population) is one in 400. Therefore if the US population were 400 people, there would be one person shot every 7 years.
I think your math is off there. First, you’re forgetting that there’s 365 days in a year. Then you’re forgetting that the scale is 400 people. Yours basically said that shootings irl are only happening once per year instead of once per day, and the US pop is only 1 person.
You don’t need any funds to buy a house. First time homebuyers can buy with 0% down and roll the closing costs into the mortgage. The tricky part is having enough income and a high enough credit score, which is easy on a McDonalds salary in some parts of the US and impossible with a 6 figure salary in other parts. I do think that the vast majority of people overcomplicate the house buying process and needlessly lock themselves into renting when they could be building equity for the same cost.
My landlord never once fixed a single thing at my rentals. I bought a condo and now my condo fees cover everything from hot water to heat and the roof, and I’m saving a couple hundred per month over renting.
The best antivirus is common sense. Use trusted sources, read comments, take regular backups, and use a dedicated server instead of your everyday driver. You can rely on Windows Defender or run another OS like Linux or even MacOS.
If you must download a suspicious file, check out sandbox options like Windows Sandbox.
pretty quiet week so far. incidentally, next week is election week in most of the US, so don’t forget to vote on November 7th (and vote early if you can–my ballot just has to be dropped off)
Well I’m craving something in this genre but I’m a bit overwhelmed and underwhelmed at the same time. So many titles and yet I’m not sure what to read. Maybe you can help?...
Have you considered Kate Elliott novels? Jaran was amazing if you like sci-fi/fantasy crossover, or King’s Dragon if you like pure fantasy. If you prefer easier reading check out the Dragonriders of Pern series.
To play devil’s advocate, I suspect that the majority of unauthorized 3rd party devices were designed for cheating versus mobility needs. Microsoft has fantastic accessibility accessories first-party that hopefully will meet the majority of needs.
This video was meh. If you want to start enjoying games again, just stop playing multiplayer games and enjoy a single player experience. Maybe something short like Portal.
