What this group of people do not realize is that they are truly not as anonymous as they think especially as AI gets more and more powerful. I look forward to the day they are all exposed along with others who think it is “fun” to be an asshole online.

I am the same way. Taught myself c#,Unity, Blender, Gimp, Audacity and more and made a top rated VR app in a 3 year period. Now I still the these resources, plus several AI’s. Love how accessible information and knowledge is becoming.
I don’t see it happening as we are entering a period of explosive progress with AI that surely will find ways to make water bountiful all over. Not a guarantee though and for sure the path to that future will have some bumps. Already has some.
There is a % of people in every country no matter what, trash talk and think their country is the best. They are often closed minded and ironically the type of person that others like them in other counties talk trash about. Best not to stoop down and let that % do what they are gonna do.
I would use open source but there are no open source game engines that support VR with controller and hand interactions, let alone online avatars. Open Source is just behind in a major way in the VR/AR space and I hope it makes closing that gap a priority.
I remember when FB bought Oculus and everyone was outraged swearing to boycott and maybe they did, but the Quest went on to be the best selling VR headset by a lot.

That is your opinion, but from what I understand he attacks big centralized organizations all the time on his socials and thus I think we need to take that into consideration until a court says he is or is not guilty. Smear campaigns are a real thing.

Maybe check out YouTubers laowhy86 and serpentza as they lived in China for over a decade and then had to run. Interesting takes for all 3 above. What I find most interesting is that most of their criticisms can also be levied on their home countries if you can get past the fog.

In think the key to helping those stuck in the Reddit world is to cross post Lemmy/kbin links to Reddit. You can even get any url to a post via the share feature on the apps. Let’s make them aware there is a place where they are not just making money more money.
One of the issue here, and I am in absolutely no way defending Unity, is that legally an executive team works for the shareholders. They must ensure shareholder return no matter what as they are in the hook for it.
Unity’s biggest issue is that they like many successful companies stopped innovating and have moved from a company run by technical people to one run by sales and marketing. Sales and marketing only know how to extract more out of the product they already have and not how to improve the product to make more in honest ways. I would (have) gladly given Unity more money if they offered tools that truly helped me get to market faster as then my win would be their win. Instead their product has become stagnant, slower not faster since 2019 and more expensive. I am getting less for more and it is unacceptable. Unity is a horrible business partner. But I can see why as they are a sales and marketing company now. Steve Jobs says it best in this 2 minute video. He got it. Why are so many other not getting this?

I too think he is an idiot, but since he likely is not, we have to wonder why he is tanking Unity. Mayne he and Musk are both playing some game where they personally win by destroying a company? I don’t know, but it all seems suspicious.
Hogwarts Legacy was a very solid title with very memorable characters, story and wow what a detailed fun world. Have not played BG3 yet so cannot compare, but Hogwarts is my GOTY so far.
Is it even going to matter in the next 3-5 years? AI is going to make its own, kore efficient language and all the ones we use will be for hobby, fun and those who did not adapt.
I agree with you, but writing human readable code will become a cottage craft and hobby as while it is good to know, AI will just be so much faster and better that coding anything yourself will make little business sense. I am already writing way less code, especially with the 100k token windows over on Poe.com which seems to handle most of my script sizes.
I think you are right if the progress on AI is linear, but if it continues to be exponential, nothing you said, even undocumented is going to be a barrier. That assumes AGI is coming and is as smart as the smartest people. We will see, but my money is on the progress surprising everyone. I am surprised by how much AI has improved over the last 6 months alone.
