Working on a little lighthouse keeper game for Playdate :)

Been working on this for the past few months, currently doing a refactor but I wanted to share a gif! I don’t have the playdate hardware yet so I’ve been testing on their simulator and having friends test on device. In case you don’t know what that is, it’s a slice of cheese-shaped 1-bit gameboy with a crank: playdate

GammaGames,

I do agree with you about alternate history in general, and PregerU is straight conservative misinformation

GammaGames,

No, people are annoyed by the constant articles he generates.

GammaGames,

I don’t agree with it, I’d prefer people use filters (most clients seem to support them).

GammaGames,

I agree, and think megathreads should only be used when the scope is limited to prevent the same story from being posted multiple times

Pokémon Sleep: Japanese walkthrough site lists “sleeping pills” as a tool for real competitive sleepers, but quickly backtracks (automaton-media.com)

A Japanese video game walkthrough listing sleeping pills as one of their recommended methods to get high scores in Pokémon Sleep has gone viral on Japanese Twitter recently. The mention of sleeping aid has since been deleted from the site.

GammaGames,

It came out publicly last week

GammaGames,

ChatGPT is great for simple questions that have been asked and answered a million times previously. I don’t see any downside to these types of questions not being posted to SO…

GammaGames,

The character (𝕏) doesn’t actually doesn’t exist in the font, because supporting arbitrary Unicode characters in every font would be absurd. Paste it into the font preview and it renders a black square.

GammaGames,

Of course there are fonts that support every character, the characters themselves would be useless if they couldn’t be rendered by anything. I’m only saying that this specific font doesn’t support the character.

GammaGames,

Tweets are now 𝕏crements

Grimlord, Into the Radius, Among Us, Vertigo 2. And then there’s some impressive mods for Fallout 4 and Skyrim. There’s also some nice crossplay games with pancake players: Phasmophobia and the more recent The Break In.

And then I like Pavlov for its Push mode and custom content like the Escape from Tarkov map. Obviously most of this is PC, but some are available on quest and you can also use Remote Desktop VR to stream to your headset.

GammaGames,

I think Pavlov is my favorite, but I’ve also played it for >200 hours 😬 Overall I still prefer the invisible and lenient item points all over your chest that Pavlov has, but Into the Radius’s inventory management is solid once you get used to it

GammaGames,

Heck yeah, Backbone! Did you know there’s a new maintainer on the project? He’s been busy lately trying to clean up the codebase x

I also use Semantic UI(‘s community fork, Fomantic UI) so I can avoid the hell that is modern UI frameworks. It works really well with Backbone

GammaGames,

Oh, that’s where the new app icon is from! I guess that makes sense. Shame it happened after I stopped contributing.

It sounds like they’d been wanting to do this since April but it kept getting delayed 🤷‍♂️ my assumption of desperation was premature

GammaGames,

It’s apparently an event icon because place is starting again tomorrow

GammaGames,

Hey, I’m Gamma he/him 👋 I like gamedev and writing fiction! Haven’t written anything shareable in a while since I’ve been working on a few Playdate games this year. I like to talk about most anything. Any book recommendations? Fiction or nonfiction, but preferably audiobook because libby might have it 🤞

GammaGames,

Found a few; Stranger in the Woods, Dawn of Everything. Added We Carry Their Bones to a notify list so I hear when it comes in. The last one kinda reminds me of Say Nothing by Patrick Radden Keefe, that was a good listen!

Haven’t heard of Librivox, I’ll have to check it out when I run out of stuff at the library 😆 Thanks for all the recs!

GammaGames,

I was just looking at this last night, I hope it works well!

GammaGames,

I’ve been listening to the FTL soundtrack since high school!

GammaGames,

I use it for programming!

Where did all the Sriracha go? Sauce shortage hiking prices to $70 in online markets (www.cbsnews.com)

tl;dr: sriracha is selling for ~$40-$70 a bottle due to a shortage of red jalapeño crops, caused by climate change (specifically, extremely hot, dry weather as well as landslide effects from various climate events in the previous years). huy fong says sriracha is resuming limited production but did not specify when this...

GammaGames,

The “shortage” is because the company tried to screw over the farmers and the farmers refused their deal

GammaGames,

Been using it for a few years without paying, never felt the need.

It looks like their paid plan adds cross-platform (including desktop) syncing, folders, some cloud storage for uploading files, a watch app, and some more themes.

Mark F***king Zuckerberg Is Not Your Friend (catvalente.substack.com)

I recently listened to a “tech” podcast host drone on for 45 minutes about the “Elon vs Zuck” cage match and this piece perfectly captures the frothing, screaming stream-of-conciousness in my brain at the thought of seeing another discussion about Twitter vs Threads/Insta/Face/burning-sh*itpile. I felt some small amount...
