What would the fat do?

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

This could be worth a try… I don’t usually boil (extract brewer), but could boil/pasturise it first before putting in fermentor I suppose. Would maybe just come out slightly salty?

@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

I presume whoever made this meme doesn’t understand that incognito mode doesn’t actually protect you from tracking? It just deletes the history on the devices basically.

Leave the World Behind shoots to No 1 on Netflix – but viewers lodge complaint (www.independent.co.uk)

“Leave the World Behind is a weird, often funny, often stupid, and ultimately cynical mess of a movie. The film takes an awfully long time to finally arrive at the point, and when it does, the point is cartoonishly pessimistic and narratively unsatisfying. I did not care for it,” one viewer commented on X/Twitter....

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Just cause people are watching it doesn’t mean it’s good, it means they are checking out what looks like it might be good. Spoiler alert: it’s not.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Related to the recent reddit mobile site update that straight up breaks the website perhaps? (Cant scroll, can’t interact)

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Different menu unfortunately, this doesn’t work for the blueray version (different menu structure), but thanks for trying

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Yeh, we are thinking that might be the case. This was a last-ditch effort to maybe get lucky with someone who may know was all. Cheers.

People keep buying big tech products and subscriptions then are shocked when they fuck you over? shocked picachu

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

It’s a real shame. Monopolies in any industry/product inevitably lead to fucking over consumers… time we broke em up I think

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

After the clusterfuck of Cyberpunk? CDPR is now Bethesda 10 years ago. I have no expectations for this game.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Would love to just pay someone to access their jellyfin server. Does something like this exist?

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Is there a place to browse options? A lemmy community you recommend perhaps?

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Lol, that’s straight up not true.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Frog, meet boiling water. This is standard play, like adding ads in the first place. First it’s one short, then slightly longer, then two in a row, then interspersed… eventually it’s commercial TV, just one big ad. Give em inch, they take a mile. Advertising shits in your head, don’t let it.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Yeh, exactly, both famously disappointing games

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

It’s just so bland and formulaic. Against deep RPGs like BG3, it just pales in comparison.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Is that true? I didn’t realise this.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

I think you must have it set to america mode

Fluid, (edited )
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

A staggering amount of tweaks and fixes, awesome!

Unfortunately still no option to toggle on auto-fill of items in empty slots on the hotbar though

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Google Linux Mint. Install. Enjoy having your computer back again.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Meanwhile, BG3 launches and shows what a proper RPG is capable of.

Does it work when you let it pick the proton version instead? I had the same issue when trying to force it to use proton experimental.

Ahh yes, the same PM who has a list of 5 directly contradictory statements as his so-called ‘plan’, that one right?

Advice for Helping Older Person with Spam

I’m helping my older neighbor deal with tons of spam email that she’s getting. For dealing with spam I thought about using thunderbird with with some extensions and making comprehensive filters. To reduce the volume in the future I thought about using deleteme and simplelogin so that her information doesn’t continue to be...

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

I think something like simplelogin is too complicated for a basic user.

I suggest setting her up with two or three different new email addresses. One for important things like gov accounts, utilities accounts, and personal emails to friends, and the other for her to use to sign up to stupid data-harvesting crap like newsletters, stores, etc.

It would probably be helpful to do a little behavioural training too around not signing up for things that require your contact details like email or phone.

After trying to get into this game, twice, I always felt it would be made so much better with PvE instead of PvP. Like all MMO’s, if you didn’t get in on the ground floor, it’s ultra confusing and punishing to try to work your way in now, with so many unexplained mechanics and just getting griefed over and over.

“ Fixed an issue causing Dammon to enter combat and die at Last Light, preventing Karlach’s story from progressing.”

Oh, he wasn’t supposed to die? I wonder if that means I have to restart my run to finish the karlach story now?

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Thank you! That’s good to know. Yes, luckily I did have that encounter before the killening.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

What? It didn’t get voted down, it literally passed and is law under the Telco Act. The fact we passed it gave the UK ammunition to do the same thing.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Others did it and faced no consequences. No government step-in, no mass customer loss. When there are no consequences for greedy monopolistic behaviours, greedy monopolies act greedily. Welcome to market capitalism without proper regulation.

Purism is dead in the water following the atrocious Librem 5 fiascos.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

That’s my understanding as well, never understood its appeal as a social platform, tried to use it for a few months but it’s shouting into the void and loudest voice wins. Tis a silly place.

@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Never once had a driver issue on Mint. Literally did an entire rebuild (mobo, cpu, gpu, the works). Switched it on, everything worked perfectly, no OS reinstall or driver hunting.

Any issues I’ve heard about, the main culprit is nvidia cause of proprietary crap. Move to AMD graphics and it’s literally plug and play.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Interesting. I like this approach. Incentivises and rewards map skill

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

I presume you’ve already done the obvious like verifying file integrity and making sure proton experimental is set as the runner?

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Just confirming other comments. No need to use proton for CSGO, just use the native linux version, it works fine no issues

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

See “gross debt this year” and “last year”. We had surplus so it has been put toward paying down the principle

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Maybe relevant 10 years ago, but not anymore. Hell, most games run better with Proton now, no background telemetry crap.

What's the point of buying new phones every years?

Other than your carrier give it for free or cheap, I don’t really see the reason why should you buy new phone. I’ve been using Redmi Note 9 for past 3 years and recently got my had on Poco F5. I don’t see the point of my ‘upgrade’. I sold it and come back to my Note 9. Gaming? Most of them are p2w or microtransaction...

Fluid, (edited )
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Because they welded the one consumable that needs replacement to force you to buy new every few years: the battery

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

The point is that virtually every mobile on the market has a non-replaceable battery, and that’s a huge factor driving over-consumption via planned obsolescence.

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Apple literally admitted it engages in planned obsolescence practices and has been fined in multiple jurisdictions for doing so.

Not sure why you feel the need to support shady business practices. There are designs that achieve waterproofing/dustproofing while still enabling replaceability. The obvious question then is why would the majority of manufacturers choose a design approach which restricts replaceability?

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

Always wanted to try it but probably couldn’t get it to the table. Hopefully this version is a way to try it without convincing 5 others

Fluid,
@Fluid@aussie.zone avatar

AMD Smart access memory apparently if you have both, not sure how much difference that makes though

How to manually remove nvidia package that won't go?

(Linux Mint) Switched to an AMD graphics card recently and ran “sudo apt remove --purge” on all ^nvidia* and ^libnvidia* packages. Unfortunately, one package (libnvidia-compute-470) seems to not get the message and won’t remove itself. Quick search around the internet on solutions have not resolved the issue yet. Wondering...

Thank you! The more you know. Much appreciated
