UK here; hiccough is definitely what I’ve seen and been taught, perhaps it’s a geographical thing?

Evia,

What’s 20? 100? 1000?

Evia,
@Evia@lemmy.world avatar

Mostly disappointed in how limited the study is for African countries

Evia,
@Evia@lemmy.world avatar

Yes, because no other country experiences famine

Perhaps a bit of a tangent: I’m pegnant and have been craving something all day but couldn’t work out what I wanted. I tried pico de gallo, bacon, mango. No luck. Eventually I realised: it was tap water with ice. That’s all I’ve wanted all day

Is there a hydrohomies here?

Evia,
@Evia@lemmy.world avatar

Gonna be honest, I still don’t know how instances even work

Evia,

A classic!

Evia,

Thanks, that was a really clear ELI5

AI sure does drift pretty close to the sun sometimes

This was my experience too, though I was in the UK where our religious and conservative nutjobs tend to hide because they secretly know they’re in the wrong. I was homeschooled for several years and found that I was able to thrive in areas that a conventional school structure wouldn’t have allowed.

I’m now a fully-adjusted and emotionally-intelligent adult with a confidence that most people my age are still learning.

Yeah but she’s be black, or poor or queer so it’s okay

Evia,
@Evia@lemmy.world avatar

Garlic and herb or black pepper? Personally, I don’t mind either but my partner will only buy garlic and herb so I have to smuggle black pepper into my work lunches

Evia,
@Evia@lemmy.world avatar

That’s half the fun

    But it can be the required standard going forward

    It depends if you can source the wool cheaply. If so, it’s about £40 for a drop spindle and some carding paddles. Otherwise, you’ll have to also factor in the costs of the fibre. Costs add up as you progress, of course… a spinning wheel would be your next big expense

    Made my brother this gansey, I'm so incredibly proud (lemmy.world)

    It’s based on a gansey that our dad had commissioned; my brother wanted one too so I copied what I saw, modding for his size. I’ve learnt a lot from it, mainly that I never want to knit such a tight knit ever again. I’m so incredibly proud of it though, it just shows what perseverance can do

    Thank you. I hope so!

    Thank you. He’d better bloody appreciate it!

    Evia,
    @Evia@lemmy.world avatar

    Thanks.

    It took me a year, but that’s mostly because I took a sabatical from it. Definitely 100+ hours

    Evia,
    @Evia@lemmy.world avatar

    Thank you. You can see towards the end that my tension was losing some consistency but the whole experience was worth it

    Evia,
    @Evia@lemmy.world avatar

    Thank you

    I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some truth to that theory

    Evia,
    @Evia@lemmy.world avatar

    Thank you. He definitely appreciates it :)

    It looks good! I like that there’s a range of different types of FOs

    It’s also really nice for my work to have been included in it, so thank you

    I didn’t even notice the third hand! I was too busy worrying about her crooked needles and the 10-row drop stitches at her wrist. I definitely see what you mean re. poor advertising. It’s like when a character’s knitting on tv and they clearly don’t know what they’re doing!

    Evia,
    @Evia@lemmy.world avatar

    Believe it or not, it didn’t improve with refinement. AI just isn’t there yet

    This is beautiful. What’s the pattern? And how did the kitchener stitch get its name?
