For a relatively simple explanation. There is a male fig, which only produces pollen. This is what the female fig wasp wants to find to lay her eggs in. Now if the wasp were to enter a female fig by mistake, the pollen covering it since hatching would pollinate the fig, and the enzyme which the fig produces would kill and break down the wasp before it could lay any eggs. After which the broken down wasp would get completely absorbed to provide nutrients as the fig grows and matures.
It’s similar to how a plant’s roots absorb compost, just without the help of bacteria to break things down

I’m assuming by the mention of powder everywhere that it’s a dry chem one, which usually don’t have a recharge port and tend to be single use. (but recyclable/exchangeable) The powder it uses is what complicates things as it’s messy (think baby powder mixed with baking soda messy) and would also need to be refilled.
I’ve never had an issue of getting a doctor appointment within a couple of weeks. Dentists are the only one that keeps the very regular rhythm, and a have multiple reminders within the three weeks before so I can get time off.
As I go to a lot of hard rock/metal shows every year, I’ve grown to dislike the idea of assigned seating and prefer to stand. Most are also lesser known, so I tend to be able to get my tickets the week of, if not the day before.
I would also iterate to the other side, that sometimes people going through depression or the like may feel embarrassed or shy about exposing their pain. As it may make them close off even more, so you don’t want to be too “helpful” and force it.
Keep in mind that a lot of times people aren’t really needing any advice or anything but just need an ear to air out their problems. Also, if you are wanting to give advice, try to be less; “you should…” and more “have you tried…”
Depression is a very, very touchy subject and needs to be handled with a lot of care.
After 20-25 years, it’s more or less used for a spam pit and less important things now. No sense walking away from it when there’s no finances or other dangerous things attached

Until there’s an option to turn off auto-update (without killing the daemon), snap can go to hell.
Ive lost so much time with snap updating Firefox and breaking my current session of multiple private windows/tabs. (Yes, I know you can use the .deb version but I shouldn’t have to go through those extra steps)
Lemmy is going through that middle-school/puberty age, with all the corny forced memes; (eg. The beans, stroganoff, etc. phases) bandwagon voting, and toying with the line between light-hearted and mean when trying to roast or joke around.
I might be a bit rusty but… It was an animated series that revolved around four kids helping an AI in a supercomputer that’s in some abandoned building. While the ‘nerd’ of the group helps from outside and the other three enter it through theses virtualization pods in a secret room. When in the virtual world the kids also get these costumes that give them combative tools/abilities. The main mission being to help fight some malicious force that is trying to take over the computer (and get out).
I’m sorta similar to you, but it’s OA (from movement disorder) in my left toe and had it since elementary. It’s progressed so much after 20+ years that the knuckle doubled in size and the joint dislocated itself.
For me unfortunately, it’s too far gone for stretches, diet or any other home-based remedy to work. The options on the table now would be regular cortisone shots (helps, but only temporary), joint replacement (issue prone w/ short lifespan), and a complete fusion of the joint. Right now I’m decided on fusion, I just need to work out the logistics and schedule it.
For anyone else in a similar boat, don’t ignore/put it off and please try to get help for it before you get stuck with surgery as the only option.
