You have a point! Did you know about inverter microwaves? now you have 2 options, full blast, and less full blast! ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/85575 this cool person found out about this in 1991, and now my microwave has it. Welcome to the future :D
In lighting effects an analogue could be a ‘scanner’, it reflects a stationary beam with a motorized mirror. Or you could mount the whole magnetron on a moving head!
Tomtom made the first steps with this almost 20 years ago, it could show a second quick instruction in a smaller box, and it only showed it like that if it was in quick succession. Kind of crazy that a gazillion dollar company somehow can’t pin it down
I’ll go first. Mine is that I can’t stand the Deadpool movies. They are self aware and self referential to an obnoxious degree. It’s like being continually reminded that I am in a movie. I swear the success of that movie has directly lead to every blockbuster having to have a joke every 30 seconds
I agree, and i think everyone i know that has seen it does so too. You should check out the one where they hop into a tent to travel through time(primer 2004) , it has a similar ‘production value’ vs ‘delivering plot’ ratio!
I used to regularly snooze my alarm which i had set for 7:00, however recently i have noticed that i directly wake up by my alarm at 7:10 and don’t remember snoozing my alarm!...
I’ve never really had an internal PC parts die on me, old or new, except HDDs I guess, but their MTBF is listed when you purchase, so that feels a bit different.
In your title you do mention “good games” were absent for a period, while you probably mean: “Mario games with the classic style”, that’s where a lot of miscommunication is coming from.
Nintendo pricing (especially further removed from launch) is pretty much space-magic.
I can relate tot odyssey graphics being more ‘hollywood’, but after I was a bit disappointed with sunshine (and have since come around to love it), I immediately fell in love with galaxy. Then galaxy 2 came around, wow. While it’s style is more modern then SM64, it does not feel as out of place as odyssey graphics to me. It felt too easy, but all Mario games feel too easy, I’m just a better platform-player nowadays.
I’m not a bot, but here is the summary of this article:
Foldables are new and have low user number because of the steep price. So most devs are not keeping foldables in mind yet while designing UI. That creates a situation where you buy a premium device but have subpremium experiences.
I learned to drink coffee with chocolate milk mixed in, then after a week black coffee was palatable. Parents drank excessive levels so it was always available, no one had milk or sugar in it so… I guess I learned it fast out of convenience :-)

This might be the case with bacterial infections, but most viruses can’t live that long without a host, especially if daylight is involved. ( L Meister · 2022 · Transmission of infectious SARS-CoV-2 via fomites is possible upon extensive moistening, but it is unlikely to occur in real-life scenarios). So if you’re not touch your mask all the time, it should help defend against infection significantly
Yes, it no longer impacts our comings and goings meaningfully anymore, so now it’s just one of the boys (influenza, sars, those and more here) Let’s hope, someday, it can join this list.
Now is a good time to flood Wikipedia with donations. For the first time in my life, i have just donated to them and will do so again. You can do it too for a minimum of €2, no requirement for recurring donations or any nonsense.
I checked their reported expenses and couldn’t really find anything they “blow” money on. Their revenue is smaller than a midsize EU football team, and considering the value comparison between the two, that makes me think either we disagree completely, you have extra info that you did not share, or I don’t understand you.
I mean, I use them my prime 4 dj system because i’m not always gonna be sure about internet availability at the next venue. I don’t want to DJ for other humans while using my phone as a 5g accespoint.
I wanted mine to be pocketable, but i could not yet afford a real iPod. So i spent 150 euro on a 256 flash stick from MSI. 1 or 2 albums plus some spares… Later I had an iPod and many headaches dealing with iTunes. The device was so great but iTunes already felt bloated to me back then.
Thx, this was an easy way to test this out! Pretty much confirmed what I already thought I knew. The nice booming base in Dark Horse threw me off :-) but I managed to get 5/6 correct. Listened with UMC404HD powering my ATH-M50x, which makes its literally HUNDREDS of dollars of equipment. When I power those headphones off my phone via apple DAC, I don’t think it would be audible. How did you do on this test?
I like Lemmy a lot, and I liked Reddit before. I never really liked Twitter, just followed some NASA accounts that told what certain probes/landers/rovers were doing. I’m interested in Mastodon because federated platforms seem to sustainably fill the gap the big 5 are trying to enlarge. What kind of content are you guys getting from there?
Lemmy was kind of jarring at first, but extensions like the universal link switcher help a lot. Any stuff like that to help onboarding Mastodon? Thx folks.
Youtube let the other shoe drop in their end-stage enshittification this week. Last month, they required you to turn on Youtube History to view the feed of youtube videos recommendations. That seems reasonable, so I did it. But I delete my history every 1 week instead of every 3 months. So they don’t get much from my choices....
It doesn’t seem easy to me, at all. Black/Dark also means night, shadow, invisible, while white infers light, visible, day. Lots of bad stuff happens in the shadow, and visa versa, and these themes are pretty universal throughout culture globally.
I guess globally folks are fine with referring to skincolors as white or black (which is oversimplified IMO), but locally the names of colors of the rainbow and the colors of human skins are not the same. Just like real life, because a caucasian’s skin is not colored pure white, and a dark skinned person is not colored pure black. Language brought the two closer together, skincolors and absolute color, but they are not the same. If I read all the alternatives to white and blacklist, none of them are instantly recognizable to me. That’ll happen eventually, and is not a reason to never change it. But saying black = skincolor so using the word black for bad = bad seems too simple.

Playing on my Project Zomboid server, water and power just cut out but my dude is not handy enough to operate generators, so I’ll have to scramble and go find my that “how to use generators” manual with the fuel I have left, just to get the fridge back up and running. And muldraugh itself is becoming pretty barren, so it’s gonna be the next town over 😅
YouTube itself is bound to implode because of the cost of all that infrastructure… sheesh. I recently reduced my YT time to the bare minimum, after being screwed out of premium (light), and found out about Peertube. It’s pretty bare bones, but viral videos can use P2P to offload the main server, which I thought was smart and fair. So, federated YouTube can be done I think. It won’t be easy though, or cheap.
I am at an accepting stage that not everything that happens in your life is in your control. When things goes really bad and you dont have much control on it, I would assume a person who believes in god or religious figures has their belief system as a coping mechanism. For example praying to the god and so on....
Language is alive and I can’t see anyone requesting origins specifically. Phrases like this can be part of 2 cultures at once. You even share the same base language, and don’t even have hard proof one way or the other but still took the time to say ‘nay’. Pretty boring…

Thanks for sharing, I’m doing a replay of it AW1 on my Steamdeck so I can play Advance wars 2 after (which I never played bfore)! Never knew about this website, gotta check that out!
Ssx Tricky!?!? I have most emulators set up on my SD, can you point me towards the info I need to get this running? Played this game until my hands hurt on the Xbox, would be a frigging blast to revisit!
One more shoutout for unrailed, last videogame I played with my dad before we had to say goodbye. Very cool gameplay, tension without (much) violence, excellent co-op and A+ soundtrack. Simple idea, perfect execution
I remember when Proton launched it was like magic playing games like Doom and Nier Automata straight from the Linux Steam client with excellent performance. I do not miss the days of having the Windows version of Steam installed separately.
because @clegko mentions shit support :( , maybe look at the framework laptop for your next upgrade? they are doing some stuff with replaceable parts, and the newest one even swappable gpu’s.
Both thinking and communicating that individual actions are futile is counterproductive. Close to zero is still non-zero. Be the change you want to see.
The censorship is kind of rediculous, tbh I thought that was in before Microsoft. Don’t see the rest as negative, and development seems more stable in the new groove, with regular larger updates. Couldn’t vote on mobs at all before, and there is DLC for Minecraft??
Just get the apple usb-c to 3.5mm dongle, it’s cheap and relatively powerful. They are 10 euro rond here and I have like 3 laying around (dongles suck and get lost ) or permanently coupled with the cable I use it with. 180 degree ports are probably not great in pocket, maybe if it rests on the port? port downwards?
First ‘public’ webcam stream was of a coffeepot to see if it was full or not, so more folks agree with that. How about making a cup in bed and then walking towards a fresh cup, it’s as if you had a very specific morning butler. I’m aware this is not a need (and I don’t have or need it), but it’s desirable for sure.
What are some "no brainer" inventions or features that just haven't made it to the consumer yet?
