I've noticed that a lot of people on the #fediverse aren't particularly welcoming to those who don't initially get it or have trouble with it. You'd think that if multiple people say they have trouble picking an instance, it might be a genuine barrier to entry that we need to consider when introducing them to the fediverse. But no, instead of suggesting an instance to get rid of that barrier everyone gives unhelpful advice like "just pick one" or "it's not that hard." We'd have a much easier time getting people on the fediverse if there weren't so many people with this attitude of "the fediverse is simple, and the people who don't get it are lazy and should try harder."

Regulating cyber matters is a complex task, as cyberspace is an intricate world full of new threats related to a person's identity, finance, and private information. Algorithm manipulation, hate crimes, cyber-laundering, and data theft are strong menaces in the cyber world.

"Successive Israeli governments convinced the world that its policies toward Gaza were justified by security, something for which Israel will not have difficulty garnering sympathy and understanding for years to come. But the main objectives of the disengagement, the siege, and the policy of separation were purely political: to ensure the survival of a regime of apartheid. That was never a secret." https://www.972mag.com/gaza-broken-paradigm-biden-complicit/

The amount of hate I see for #apple and #macos while following #linux hashtags is baffling. Especially when I see those same people praising #google, especially those talking #security and #privacy. Google will gobble up everything it can about you so they can sell your information for advertising.
In reality the real reason people hate is because cost of entry. Apple hardware is expensive because it’s build to last. If you can’t afford to buy their hardware it’s easier to hate on it, I guess.
