Hello peoples....
My GP has given me an Adult "ADHD Self-Report Scale (ASRS-v1.1) Symptom Checklist" as part of trying to get medication prescribed.
Some questions ask about social interactions, but my answers will be impacted by my ASC1 ( ) traits (Questions 15, 17 and 18 just seem like they would be too rude to do.)
Is that likely to impact my NHS diagnosis?

It maybe that these things are taken in to account when reviewing the checklist, but it could also be that I don't get the medication I'd like to try because the AuDHD symptoms don't match their (I worry) simplistic definitions. Gaah!

Oh look - yet another author who's written a novel, but can't bring themselves to admit this.

After all, 'serious' novelists wouldn't dirty themselves with something as vulgar as that, would they? Who'd invite them to cocktail parties? Long live the Posh vs. Tosh false dichotomy.

“It’s not just even that they invested in these companies and made dividends off of or got customs revenue, It’s that they were willing to have their brand literally branded into the flesh of people. On July 15, 1944, in Bristol England, the "Park Street Riot" occurred as 400 Black soldiers confronted 120 MPs over pub access. Observers later recounted that locals rooted for the Black troops. Like the Battle of Bamber Bridge a year earlier, this event underscored the racism Black troops faced as well as the disconnect between how they were treated overseas vs in their own country.

very sound. the UK had racism, but not racist laws by and large. As a Bristol schoolboy we were taught nothing of this but 'folk memory' is that we were grateful for the black soldiers but the more honest old people said interracial relationhips caused issues. Some pubs famously barred white soldiers when told to discriminate. i'm grateful for this expansion of my home city's history

@Deglassco @blackmastodon @BlackMastodon This is an amazing thread. Is it in one place anywhere please? I'd like to pass it on to people here in Bristol.

In 1943, U.S. forces in Britain expected to export racial segregation. When white American Military Police (MPs) insisted a local pub segregate, the owner said he would. When MPs returned next day, they were met with “Blacks Only” signs & British barmaids telling white soldiers to wait their turn when they thiught they would be served before black soldiers. This set the stage for the epic Battle of Bamber Bridge.

This is one of my favourite facts ever. Learned it as a kid, never forgot it.

mcv,

I'm still baffled that the US could demand racial segregation from UK pubs. I'm glad the pubs and the other locals supported the black soldiers, and not the racist MPs.

'Offshoring Refugees: Colonial Echoes of the -Rwanda Migration and Economic Development Partnership' https://mdpi.com/2076-0760/12/8/451
part of the special issue The Legacies in and Welfare in Europe.
The UK-Rwanda proposals differ from official practices of as they have developed in liberal democracies since the 1970s.

There are certainly some international parallels, such as Australia’s ‘Pacific Solution’ of ‘offshoring’ asylum, which is often cited as an inspiration. Yet a much clearer precedent involving the forcible movement of people to countries where they have no personal or legal connection existed for many years in the British Empire.

Apparently, the has just launched "Woke Watch", where red faced pillocks send in angry e-mails, complaining about transgender asylum seekers giving their house prices pronoun cancer, or something.

Anyway, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should one e-mail [email protected] to , or just plain take the piss. No, that would be WRONG. Oh, for shame!

@kevinrns Ah, but that's the beauty of it. If they try anything with your e-mail address, they get done under the 2018 Data Protection Act.

You see, they're silly enough to publicise their e-mail address, but if you reply, that's between them and you.

So, let's see how stupid they are...

No, dont visit daily mail, dont click daily mail, dont smell daily mail, dont give your email address, look at the daily mail, dont let your local sell the daily mail, take your dog walking down to the daily mail.

The daily mail is uncharged co-conspirators.

The daily mail isnt yellow journalism anymore, its gone amonia now.

This is one of those 'first' photos. Its not great, the bird was far to far away, but it is my first ever image of an Osprey. Next time I see one it will be better. Promise.

@JimsPhotos

are great birds!

They are very vocal with each other and have one of the more pleasant calls for . I can sometimes get them to respond to my whistled attempts to "talk to them". 🙂

Other fun facts… They only eat fresh fish which they catch themselves.

They have a special wing structure that allows them to plunge feet first into the water without hurting themselves, and special reversible toes to help them hold wriggling fish.

(those perennial bullies) frequently shake-down Ospreys in the air to get them to give up the fish they just caught. I've witnessed this more than once!

Included photo shows the two master fisherman scanning the water for their next meal!
