I was lucky enough to spot an owl in my yard the other night and it inspired this poem. 🦉

A blackbird feeds on a rowan tree in a city park in Tallinn, Estonia during a frost. Blackbirds have been known to get drunk from eating old berries that have fermented, but the outcome is rarely a happy one, since even a small amount of alcohol can be toxic and cause accidents in flight.

hi, @bookstodon - what are your favorite Australian/Kiwi #books?

it’s coming on winter here in the Northern hemisphere, so I’m counter-programming by reading “Thirst For Salt” by Madelaine Lucas (lovely so far), and I love a Jane Harper thriller.

@lunalein @bookstodon For nonfiction, my favorite Aussie book is Where Song Began by Tim Low. So much writing about birds is focused on the northern hemisphere that it was great to read about all the wonders of Australian birds. They buck a number of trends and have some unique qualities.
