#ThisWeek : #colour#foliage#seed and #sun (also rain!) for #SixOnSaturday a lot of leaves on the ground, but still colour to be found, especially in the understory and some plants /trees that turn later than others.
Top left Prunus- a plum variety growing well in the last few years-- after its pollinating mate died 🙄 Centre Ontario native Aralia racemosa ripened some berries, though the plants have mostly frozen down, now. #garden@plants#NativePlants#autumn#fall#Alberta#October cont---
1/ @plants#Houseplants from the #WindowsillGarden for a sort of #FensterFreitag - 2 of the shots (2nd n replies) have the window glass and one a bit of frame, as background (the other on a countertop, beside with window light!)
The little #Haworthia was looking colourful- Haworthiopsis now, I haven't been that active in houseplants in recent years, so still not used to the 'new' names which aren't even that new anymore...lol Views backlit and front lit. #Succulents#IndoorGardening#Alberta
@plants second #plant for #FensterFreitag Ornithogalum pyrenaicum has rarely if at all flowered for me in past, this is its third time this year! A #bulb plant it is sometimes included in Cactus and Succulent collections, it's also and #EdibleHouseplant (in this climate- probably not quite hardy, but I have not tested), but I haven't had enough material to test- prob should have a bigger pot and cushier growing conditions! #Alberta#FlowersOnFriday#BloomScrolling#florespondence
@plants@nature #SevenOnSunday is #Smoke and #Clouds and lowering #Sun #Berries turning #red and #summer#green slipping away
smoky days, wet days, clear and warm days last week, now we go into a week forecast above average, sunny and dry-- good for farmers harvesting, though chilly most nights. I should get some garden stuff wrapped up, start thinking about cutting firewood for the inevitable drop! #autumn#September#Alberta#landscape more in replies
#FungiFriday#Mushtodon + a cheat for #ThickTrunkTuesday
I see lots of #fungi on #trees living and dead here, and lots of #mushrooms on the ground or fallen wood, but I do not often see regular looking, stemmed mushrooms on standing trees! In fact I think I've only seen it once before, and it was quite near this one- in a stand of Populus balsamifera /Balsam Poplar, in moist/mesic mixed woods on the farm. I forget, for sure, but this may be a dead standing tree. @nature#BorealForest#Alberta
About 10 hours late on #SixOnSaturday ! so why not throw in a couple more days: #FungiFriday and #MushroomMonday ! I take lots of photos of the many local fungi/ #mushrooms, but don't have names. Late summer/early fall (just a couple of weeks away, here) is peak season for many sorts. + a couple of #flower pics from the #garden that are hard to fit in colour themed collages- I don't have many in these shades! #Bugs#dragons and #vegetable#flowers for #SixOnSaturday @plants@nature
Top left and right- a couple of #heritage peas- I grow a number of mange-tout /snow peas/sugar peas and soup varieties- several start out as the first and mature to the second. Most of the flowers look like these-- some combination of pink or burgundy with white/lighter. I'd grow these just for the look of the plants-- I have some with deep violet pods also. #Gardening#insects#FlyDay#Alberta#Canada
