It’s not surprising his password had been yourefired. Its surprising he used the correct “you’re”. Although i guess technically it would have been more secure to include the special character. Haha

kameecoding,

include the special character

youtrumprefired

dunning_cougar,

The FBI runs Twitter, what do they need a warrant for?

HughJanus,

Used to, maybe.

someguy3,

Must be going after DMs?

TransplantedSconie,

If you’ve seen any footage of his nazi rally in Windham, NH, you’d notice that the fat pig was sweating like Elvis on stage in '77.

All while in air conditioning.

That heat you feel, you miserable vomitous mass, is the measured gaze of Jack Smith slowly closing the noose around your ankles to drag you to prison.

realcaseyrollins,

Don't call Chris Christie a fat pig, that's disrespectful

Cmot_Dibbler,
@Cmot_Dibbler@lemmy.world avatar

To pigs?

JustZ,

Oh shit.

morphballganon,

I suspect they meant to overweight people

PrincessLeiasCat,

LOL I’m sorry but this was such a joy to read. Oh, the glorious mental image. Thank you OP.

OldWoodFrame,

I just listened to the Darknet Diaries episodes (86/87/88) about the guy who “hacked” Trump’s Twitter, actually he was a white hat who figured out that Trump’s password in 2016 was “yourefired” because he used the same password on LinkedIn which got hacked.

And then he tried again in 2020 and Trump did not have 2-factor authentication on even though Twitter was trying to push it for political accounts, and his password was “MAGA2020!” which was near identical to the password for wifi at Trump rallies.

It was so easy that I basically guarantee other countries (and probably our own also) got in and read the messages, which brings up the intriguing possibility that they’re not looking for what he has retained in there, but what he deleted. Deleting incriminating evidence is essentially admitting guilt, not to mention obviously obstruction of justice.

mechinn,

Even if they could get in with little effort for them to be able to use the evidence in court it would have to be legally obtained. This isn’t intelligence gathering on a foreign adversary. Trump and his lawyers are going to try every maneuver in the book to get him out of seeing any consequences for his actions, the FBI need to do everything with this case by the book or risk everything getting thrown out on technicalities.

PrincessLeiasCat, (edited )

Which Ep was that?

Edit: I completely missed that OP had the episode numbers listed in the post. Thank you [email protected] for letting me know.

poppy,

The episode numbers 86, 87, and 88 are listed in the parentheses.

PrincessLeiasCat,

Thank you and apologies, I completely missed that.

RoundSparrow,

A Russian claims on Facebook that he got a Twitter direct message in 2012 from Trump that started the whole Russia + Cambridge Analytica combo: washingtonmonthly.com/…/a-trumprussia-confession-…

DigitalTraveler42,

What was our idea with Donald Trump?

For four years and two days … it was necessary to get to everyone in the brain and grab all possible means of mass perception of reality. Ensure the victory of Donald in the election of the US President. Then create a political alliance between the United States, France, Russia (and a number of other states) and establish a new world order.

And there it is, proof that they not only want to install Trunp as president but also that they want to start the “New World Order” that they’ve had right wing and Nazi conspiracy theorists scapegoating onto the Jews and “liberals”.

It’s so clear and obvious that this is what the global right wing is working towards because the messaging is almost exactly the same from right wing/conservative group and from country to country, and from right wing/Nazi/conservative pundits and influencers all across the world. The Global Right Wing want to take control of the world for their purposes, which should scare us all.

Fez,

Looking for logs to prove that Trump himself tweeted those things? 🤔

ziggurism,
@ziggurism@lemmy.world avatar

I would guess he needed to see the drafts folder. It was reported that he went through several versions of the call to stand down on J6 before committing to what he sent, and some of them were more approving than others.

DrZoidberg,
@DrZoidberg@sh.itjust.works avatar

You can save drafts in Twitter?

glimse,

Yes

TransplantedSconie,

DMs to the leaders of the 3%ers, Proud Boys, and other chuds who attempted to kill government officials I’d wager.

cindylouwhovian,

Bingo! Footage from the Jan 6th riot clearly showed the idiots communicating via twitter. Can’t wait to see what the DMs disclose. The authorities already the phones of some of the recipients of those messages - whatever they found clearly gave Smith and the justice department justification to get Trump’s account records.

meldroc,

Jack Smith might want to check the Wayback Machine to make sure nothing’s missing…

robbotlove,

when they ask for stuff like this, they already know what they’re looking for.

TransplantedSconie,

Yep. I’m guessing DMs to leaders of the 3%ers, Proud Boys, and others who tried to kill government officials

Overzeetop,
@Overzeetop@kbin.social avatar

And/or verifying that the posts came from his personal device (IP/identifier) so it can't be blamed on the intern or coffee boy.

Serinus,

You shouldn’t guess stuff that extreme. It trivializes whatever is found, whether it’s that or less than that.

Zuberi,

Lol

dhork,

Jack Smith is taking the hardball approach to slide into Trump’s DMs…

MicroWave,
@MicroWave@lemmy.world avatar

The search was so secret that Twitter was barred from telling Trump the search warrant had been obtained for his account, and Twitter was fined $350,000 because it delayed producing the records sought under the search warrant.

girlfreddy,
@girlfreddy@mastodon.social avatar

@MicroWave

bwahahahaha!!! That's hilarious!!!

FlyingSquid,
@FlyingSquid@lemmy.world avatar

Are we going to see more bullshit “Twitter Files” about how the evil government dared to exercise a legal search warrant?

Alto,
@Alto@kbin.social avatar

Still not a fan of secret subpoenas/warrants/whatever, but fuck that's funny

Falmarri,
@Falmarri@lemmy.world avatar

This is different from a FISA warrant I think. It’s not that it was “secret”, in that it won’t ever be public. Just that they didn’t tell trump first, which as far as I know is pretty standard

JustZ,

A statute requires notice of the existence and scope of the warrant. Here, it sounds like the court issued a discretionary protective order, further limiting the contents of Twitters notice letter to trump.

Alto,
@Alto@kbin.social avatar

I'm aware. I'm not a fan of them not being able to tell their users when this stuff happens.

Gotta wait til after they hand it over? Sure. But they should be legally required to inform the user after the fact.

Falmarri,
@Falmarri@lemmy.world avatar

Definitely agree with that

RangerAndTheCat,

If you’re not a fan look into services that have a “canary in the coal mine” or “warranty canary”, the best example of this being at work I can remember would be lavabit or true crypt (RIP). Take what I say with more than a grain of salt… just an old privacy advocate that may dive to deep sometimes haha adjusts tinfoil hat

Alto,
@Alto@kbin.social avatar

Unfortunately a lot of the FISA warrants completely gut organization's ability to actually fail to renew a warrant canary

RangerAndTheCat,

TIL… is there any real alternative option that a end user can look for from a service? (or ask that they add if they’re not aware of the option)

Alto,
@Alto@kbin.social avatar

Not really. The FISA warrants usually come with a provision that gives strict penalties for giving any sort of notice that they've been served

RangerAndTheCat,

Damn… :(

rastilin,

Yes, that's generally how electronic record searches go. I don't get why "secret" is bolded, since any of us would be getting the exact same treatment if there was a warrant for our own accounts. This at least is equitable in that it's equally unfair under the laws that these very same people had no problem with when they were in power.

sought the warrant in January 2023.

So after Musk took over. I have no doubt Musk tried to obstruct as much as possible.

DougHolland,
@DougHolland@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah, THAT’S what CNN should’ve said in the headline. Investigations into Trump are so ordinary now they’re barely news, but Twitter ignoring the law and the search warrant — that ought to be big news.

There are still serious news sites and government agencies using Twitter, something that’s been feeling more and more problematic to me. It would be nice if today’s news started a groundswell, or at least a conversation about that. Twitter has made itself into a forum for nutters, and now this? To anyone who’s still on Twitter, I would ask — Why?

LEDZeppelin,

That’s $44,000,350,000 in total after taxes. Would that be cash or credit card?

Rakonat,

I wish we saw more stuff like this with corps being slapped around even a little bit where it hurts (their bank account) when they drag their feet or don’t comply.
