I never understood the watch thing. Mechanical watches are a Rube Goldberg way of timekeeping in the age of electronics. I was always hell on watches, so kept to cheap Timex or Casio watches. After I started carrying a mobile phone, I stopped wearing them entirely.
I do get cars and motorcycles though, at least to a point. Even something as simple as accelerating onto the highway is a vastly different experience in a Mitsubishi Mirage compared to doing the same in a V6 Camry, Z06 Corvette, or Tesla Model S.
After a certain point though, you're well into rapidly diminishing returns in terms of performance /dollar, and it just becomes another financial dick swinging contest.
You didn’t mention about how they said all the MoonSwatch models would be available for purchase online and then later pulled that back and none of them are available online.
Also, many of those who were pissed about the MoonSwatch ripping off Omega were also pissed about not being able to buy one.
It’s kind of frustrating that Reddit and Discord don’t want to do anything with us. It would help numbers-wise, but no, stay on Discord which is bad for searching and Reddit where we tried to have an exodus from. Now all the content is on Reddit and all we have is reposts. Which encourages people to go crawling back to Reddit if they want content and aren’t hardcore principled about staying off.
Which includes me: I keep trying to be active on the Fediverse and to help it grow, but there are lots of niche communities there that don’t exist here. I’d make them myself but I’m very much not cut out for a moderation role.
I know I should make more content myself. However, I’m not seeing much drama in my hobbies right now despite heavily immersing myself in them. I could actively look for drama in hobbies I don’t participate in to write up here, but honestly I don’t feel like it.
It’s definitely frustrating. I’d understand if the modteam (same ones are top mods for the subreddit and the discord I was told) have a plan for a different space, but I didn’t see any replies from them on reddit or the discord unfortunately beyond their post on the subreddit for the most part.
I did advertise on !newcommunities and I’ve been keeping an eye out for asklemmy threads about community recs, so hopefully we can get some more organic growth continuing forward. I am unfortunately in the same boat of having currently quiet hobbies though. I mainly TTRPG and Wizards decided to blow their drama in the beginning of the year unfortunately lol.
I forgot to say this in my original comment: the extremely frustrating part is that they did protest. They shut down the sub on Reddit. But they won’t do the actual effective way to hurt Reddit: by moving to its alternatives, and/or helping those who moved.
I get it, it’s just Reddit, it’s not like going to the website is breaking a real picket line workers made to get better wages, but it’s still frustrating.
I remember being absolutely obsessed with this show when it was on. I had my dad rush me home from basketball practice to catch it on time. None of this is really surprising to hear though.
This, the hair drama, all the other animal crossing economy issues, and the time travel drama. It’s crazy to me that such a chill game had so much drama.
Animal Crossing released a hairstyle that is most likely afro puffs but some people say they could be space buns. Someone on Twitter posted a screnshot of their game and their character had this hairstyle. The problem started because their character was white and afro puffs are a black hairstyle. This lead to the whole cultural appropriation argument and such. With Twitter being well, Twitter, it spiraled put of control. I’ve added a couple links where you can read about it.
I won't claim to know anything about this world but a quick check on Mercari shows me most Angelic Pretty dresses are below 50K (360 usd), with some exceptions around 80K (580 usd) for rare complete sets.
That's a far cry from 500 usd.
Note: These are all second hand in fabulous care and look almost new.
Seems pretty reasonable to trust your translator and then want a refund when you haven’t worn the outfit yet. Not sure how this is as bad as everyone is making out. Is it because she got a refund in spite of them not wanting to give it? Why should she give a fuck about their policies if it’s going to cost her a grand and a half? None of this seems unreasonable and the one valid piece of criticism (being able to resell it) is judging someone for what they didn’t do which is usually a bad idea.
It wasn’t her translator, it was her traveling friend, the store has a strict no refund policy, which is why the manager had to make calls to have it approved. She made up lies about how the store was failing and was going to lose their spot in the shopping center. She has also tweeted antisemitism things, made jokes at an abandoned nazi camp, stole her dads ashes to mix with paint, stole 10k from a family member’s funeral who committed suicide…
