We all are pretty annoyed at how the printer industry is screwing customers over. There are a few printers that are really good but most of them suck and try to suck out your money by demanding ink when none is needed....
We believe that any software should support fundamental digital freedoms. With the rise of cryptography and computer systems, it is now possible to guarantee these freedoms in the world of bits: privacy of thoughts, freedom of speech, right to authorship, and autonomy from software providers. These rights can be encoded into the...
I noticed that transfer companies usually charge fixed amount for each transaction, so donating $1 can easily incur 30%+ fee....

Hi all, I’m looking for some Discord alternatives. All I really need is the ability to do voice calls and screen shares. It can be either via DM or channels, I only need to it be able to speak with a few friends that’d be open to moving over. I recently stumbled across this superb little word processor, and I’m just blown away by how good it for being made by one dude for free. It’s like a slimmed down version of Scrivener or Papyrus, with a wonderfully simple and easy to use interface....
UPDATEThank you for your feedback! Based on what you all provided, I’m going to postpone installing any de-Googled Android OS for the time. It seems there’s still a lot that needs to be worked on in terms of device and application support, and I don’t have the time to work out the kinks and issues that might show up here...

I was forced to fill out an XFA form (that was pretending to be a PDF) from the Canadian government and the experience left me feeling completely subjugated. Now we are facing an unprecedented growth of AI as a whole. Do you think is time for FSF elaborate a new version of GPL to incorporate the new challenges of AI in software development to keep protecting users freedom?
Does anyone have any recommendations for good backup software? My use case is pretty simple. I have an external usb drive I want to backup to every so often. Both the source and backup drives are 8TB capacity (I’m not even close to using the full capacity yet)...
I am looking for a nice ebook reader app for android but it’s proving to be quite difficult. Every app I stumble open misses at least a few things I want. So here is a list of things I want:...

I didn’t know about this, but I haven’t used Audacity in a long time.
No more open source....
I don’t understand what problem they are meant to solve. If you have a FOSS piece of software, you can install it via the package manager. Or the store, which is just a frontend for the package manager. I see that they are distribution-independent, but the distro maintainers likely already know what’s compatible and what...

Edit: And in the end, it’s back to good old Fedora with Xfce. I guess I’m an old man, fixed in my ways. Haiku was interesting, but not nearly as stable as needed. OpenSuSE with Xfce was rough, it requires more polish....
