In order to promote discussion on Lemmy, I’m doing micro-reviews for my favorite boardgames by genre. Please join in, provide your reviews, flame me for my terrible taste or to suggest a category for tomorrow!...
I was trying to find some games the other day, using advanced search and filters, and I’ve noticed some categories feel not so useful. This is the actual main categorization:...
I have been tinkering around a game idea and have developed some of the components and even play-tested some parts on Table Top Simulator. However, when it comes to balancing and creating the economy I am having difficulty coming up with a good workflow. I was wondering if there is any good resource for game creators. Maybe some...
I regularly play UNO atm and would love to hear your strategies when playing this game. Do you try to remember what cards were played e.g. the +2 an d+4? Do you switch colors if someone is about to finish? Do you also keep the color-picker until the end?
Whenever I have trouble getting back into a game I like to make my own setup and rules summary to make it easier in the future. These are intended for myself only so they take shortcuts and make assumptions about how I think about the setup and play and even our typical player count (2). I will share an example in a comment....

I’ve played 4 of the 12 games so far and I’ve been having a blast. I’m excited to play the next session, which is something I could never really say about ticket to ride....
Howdy. I have a boardgame called “Seventh Street” that I’ve developed. It’s kind of a complicated project but the best way to describe it is that it’s a real-estate trading game with elements of deduction and deception. (If it helps, think of it as Monopoly with incomplete information and without the death spiral and...
I would be curious about your favorite coop games. I often find them a big lacking, often being a bit unbalanced. An example is Battle for Hogwarts, where one game can be a walk in the park and another absolutely impossible and rarely is there a balanced match.
Just played a good game of Roll for the Galaxy. Usually we end up finishing the game because someone gets 12 developments/worlds, but this time we shifted to producing and shipping. It came down to who got to ship first in the last time (wife had a lower faction number, so she got it). Result was tied on VP. 😀
I have a copy of mage wars arena that I love quite a bit. However I struggle to get it on the table. Because it’s a 2p game, I have to rely on my partner being interested in playing it. Till now, I’ve had no success. Just to be clear, my partner is a boardgame nut....
So Oath is not a legacy game, because there’s no permanent changes to the game (no destruction, no stickers, no writing, nothing). It’s not a campaign game either since there’s no overarching narrative covering multiple games (well, not one provided by the game, at least). So it’s kind of its own thing....
Generally, I’m more of a lurker, but Lemmy is still young and I think we should all contribute a but more. In order to encourage discussion, I’ll be writing micro-reviews for my favorite games by genre in the next couple of days. You’re welcome to join in and review yours or flame me for my terrible taste!...
