Does Godzilla count?

Godzilla, rather characteristically, stomps any other answer.

noroute,

Yes it does, disasters can be related to any genre really. Sometimes there are only some scenes of disaster. Like i gave example of tv show Lost airplane only crashed in the beginning but consequences of that was trough whole show. So it does count in this post :-)

Drivebyhaiku,

Hells yeah. OG Godzilla is kind of a marvel. Like those models are bloody DETAILED and they were destroyed for the takes like some kind of beautiful temporary sand mandala. It’s focus on the human cost of nuclear disaster is also really chilling.

I saw it in a theater and DAMN is it a good show when it’s on the big screen. If you ever get the chance do it.

Drusas,

28 Days Later

noroute,

There is also 28 Weeks Later (2007) very good and underrated zombie movies.

Sea_pop,

The opening of Weeks is better but i felt like the rest of Days was better

I could only take it seriously until

spoilerthe helicopter scene.

Starglasses,

I liked this one. I’ve only seen it the one time, but it was obviously excellent because it still evokes memories that I liked it.

cheese_greater,

Zombieland

Brkdncr,

I just watched Leave the World Behind and it’s pretty good.

Sea_pop,

I wanted to like it more than I did but did not feel like I wasted my time. Could have been a bit shorter, imo

Brkdncr,

Yeah it’s not amazing but I was entertained.

Seaguy05,

“Love and monsters” was a great scary conceptualism about humans living in a post apocalyptic bug world but kept it light and comical. Great intro showing the realism of that world followed by a great comical story line. I’ve seen other descriptions calling it a better “zombieworld”.

raptir,

If we’re going “so bad it’s good” I’ll give you The Core.

noroute,

Fun fictional movie but there is almost zero or zero science behind it.

raptir,

You said disaster movie, not scientifically accurate documentary.

noroute,

Yes, was just sharing my thoughts =)

I LOVE The Core. It is so stupid on every level that it’s fantastic.

Bender12,

Armageddon. Science aside, it hits all the feels.

logicbomb,

It’s not just science. You have to simply forget everything you know about science, relationships, the government, space agencies, logic, and smart people, but the payoff is that you get to hear a guy sing about how much he wants to fuck his daughter.
