Good. The lemdroid instance is run by the subreddit mods, and they’re toxic as hell.

For what it’s worth, !android never closed.

The obvious one: them repeatedly defending, even until a few days ago, the forced closure of !android (by one single mod) and insisting that it stays forever a redirection page to their community and that if you don’t agree with their fucked up idea of “moderator discretion” then you’re just like Spez. Thankfully that’s over now that the mods responsible of that have been replaced, but they forced their shit on us for almost three weeks through their new mod who was the old creator of this community and they didn’t want to fold for almost three weeks until the admins put a stop to that. They could have apologized after a week or so and voluntarily reopened the community instead of repeatedly intervening on lemmy.world through their alts to defend that power move, but they didn’t, that’s how toxic they were.

Yeah, we were all very unhappy with their behavior, and it’s our hope that we leave them behind in the past and focus on building our part of the community instead.

I can’t promise you much, but this I can promise: this is not my community, this is our community, and we will all do our best to make this the best that it can be.

Yeah, I don’t think that’s a problem here since the ranking algorithm is different and things are a lot slower. We’ll see how it goes.

Hi again! I just wanted to offer again to look into things for you because if you were indeed banned for being critical of Samsung, that’s a problem. All I could find from the modlog was a /u/JshKlsn that was temporary banned for a week for being rude to folks on /r/android by a mod who doesn’t use Samsung devices. I know you’ve said that wasn’t your account. I’d be happy to look into a different one for you as this truly has me confused 🙁.

Oh, also, before I forget, we will be running a community icon/banner contest next weekend. So, get your stylus and Stable Diffusion models ready to get a head start.

I would say 256x256 is good for the icon, can be bigger or smaller, but has to be square. Current icon is decent though, it’s fresh and cute, so you can vote to keep it as is.

For the banner, let’s do 1280x400.

It’s very different. I based the current set of community policy on NSQ’s, first innovated by our newly promoted admin and my co-moderator here.

I’ve never liked the idea of having too many bots running around, so I would like to have the least number of bots here as possible. It should just be a place for us to talk about Android and have fun.

I also don’t really like clickbait and spam, so I took an extra step in the rules to prevent it.

    XDA and Android Central are different forums, yet they co-exist fine.

    Smaller places with passionate people have their advantages, people will talk to each other instead of at each other more.
