Ooo, that's an idea I like. What else has Annapurna done?

Edit: They've published Stray, which was amazing. (But it wasn't their development like I initially thought.) I am cautiously optimistic.

gk99,

The only things Annapurna has made up until now have been exclusivity deals. This is their first game that's actually theirs.

Normally I'd be hesitant, but Nightdive's first game was the System Shock remake and it is pretty dope

We'll see what the stuff looks like when it's close to release.

Their wiki article lists System Shock as their third original game (I guess do you mean developed solely by them?)

Also - their release of SS was plagued with delays (like almost a decade) and still released with game breaking bugs.

Yeah but it's fun

This may be their first internal development but they are a fantastic game publisher already! They take a lot of chances publishing weirder stuff and it pays off a lot of the time. My favorites are:

  • Outer Wilds
  • Journey
  • Stray
  • What Remains of Edith Finch
  • Donut County
  • Gone Home
  • Kentucky Route Zero

I kind of look at them as the A24 of games (nevermind that Annapurna Pictures is a thing) where they have excellent taste in choosing what odd features to publish and give a chance despite not creating them themselves. It at least suggests they care about the artistry of the product to a point where I'm expecting that same standard in their first hands-on development.

zhaosima,

You just added a couple more games to my backlog. Thanks! :)

HELL yes. I've posted at least twice about the old Blade Runner PC game just since joining kbin/lemmy, so this is exciting. One of my favorites.

I am interested. Annapurna has published some of the most amazing games in the last 5 years and I'd love to see how they handle this themselves. Anything they put their name on is known for its narrative quality and I expect this will be much the same level of that.

Oh, I'm very excited for this. A dark sci-fi investigative game would be absolutely amazinig. Blade Runner, in my opinion, is an uptapped well.

Have you tried the point and click adventure from the same franchise?

This is very promising! I loved What remains of Edith Finch, Stray and Outer Wilds. Excited to see what they are doing with Blade Runner

I’ll be there!

Punkster812, to gaming in Psychonauts 3 not in development as they works on 'smaller' games

I kinda assumed as much, it took a long time for 2 to come out. I really liked 2, it was a great follow up to the original. Would love to see a third one as long as they have good, new ideas for it.

After watching their documentary about the development of Psychonauts 2, PsychOdyssey, I can understand why they want to wait a while for the next big project.

Reggie, to gaming in Larian Studios could be forced to make sacrifices with Baldur's Gate 3 on Xbox

3 years into this console generation and this is already happening. Either Microsoft changes its policy or XBox will miss out on more demanding titles.

BowflexPeloton, to gaming in Terraria keeps getting updates because it keeps selling

This article got me to reinstall it and get mods! I have never tried it with mods

Xathonn,
@Xathonn@kbin.social avatar

You're in for a good time! I definitely recommend grabbing the Calamity mod.

BowflexPeloton,

I grabbed Calamity, Thorium, and Terraria Overhaul for the major "game changing" mods, and a few other QoL mods

Xathonn,
@Xathonn@kbin.social avatar

The Calamity wiki is really helpful for finding out how to progress in the mod. It has a step by step guide to reach you the order of things
